3 3. The Boy

CHAPTER 3 : THE BOY

"I seriously don't remember anything Eth. And I think it would be better if you ignore this as well. At the time of the accident, I had a very bad feeling about it. Let's not discuss this ever again, okay?" Eleanora asked, trying not to raise her voice.

"Okay okay, no need to get riled up over this. Wanna have Ellie special 'Mocha-cookie-crumble-frappuccino'?" Ethan asked with a smile.

"Of course!" Eleanora exclaimed, her mood uplifting considerably.

"Stay put here then. No running around without my permission!" Ethan said while lovingly rubbing her head, making Eleanora pout a little.

Luckily the fracture was minute and would barely need a month's bed rest for full recovery.

"Also I have informed Uncle and Aunty-" Eleanora widened her eyes at Ethan's word.

"Don't worry. I told them nothing major happened so they can relax." Ethan said assuringly, making her settle a little.

"I will be quick." Ethan said, giving a little peck on Eleanora's forehead, making her blush hard, before leaving.

Eleanora looked at his retreating figure, happiness blooming in her chest. The past one hour had been a little too much on her. From dying, to being found, to avoiding the catastrophe and getting to relive the life she wanted, it was no less than some miracle-chain happening.

Her hopes for this situation to remain similar were the last thoughts before she drifted off to sleep.

Ethan walked out of the building, his steps long and powerful. The moment he entered his car, he exhaled and inhaled deeply, closing his eyes before opening them again. A weird murderous glint in his eyes.

He stepped on the pedal and raced away, his Mercedes overtaking every other car on the road.

'Nobody can do as much as touch her, except me. Whoever dared to hit her, you are long dead now.' He muttered internally before parking near a building.

He was fast enough to reach the third floor and ring the doorbell. Though the door opened quickly, saving him from anymore annoyance.

"What's up?" A teen boy with a dimple on his left cheek, wearing a black oversize hoodie while carrying a glass of coke asked in a half smile.

"Pull out the footage of Victoria park from one and half hour ago. Now." This Ethan was entirely different than what Eleanora got to witness.

He nodded before walking towards a room, watching at an entire wall covered with screens of varied CCTV footage.

He sat on his chair, keeping the coke aside before typing at break neck speed, his fingers dancing on the keyboard. And within seconds, the footage was on screen.

"Stop stop stop." Ethan said in a hurried voice, looking at the screen intently.

A woman, with her helmet on, could be seen struggling beneath her blue scooty while a man in black tuxedo was squating in front of her.

"Zoom in." Ethan said and the boy followed.

'I have never seen him-' Ethan was still contemplating when the boy spoke up.

"Ain't he Alexander Laurent?" The boy asked a little cluelessly.

"Alexander Laurent?" Ethan asked.

"The renowned heir of The Laurent Agency, that swept the entire entertainment industry in Country Wade. I have heard that they were planning to expand overseas. Guess it's true." The boy spilled whatever he knew.

"Pull out every single detail on this person, okay?" Ethan ordered before turning around, typing something on his phone while the boy's phone vibrated.

A payment of $20,000 was made to his account.

"Will be done within an hour." The boy shouted happily from behind but Ethan was already halfway out.

Next, Ethan called Eleanora and his family, informing them about the accident, who arrived at the hospital before he could return with her Starbucks beverage.

"Ellie, finish up that milk quickly, you also need to eat these fruits and-" Clara Rosenheim, Eleanora's mother, could be seen lecturing Eleanora as soon as Ethan entered.

Hearing her statement, Ethan instantly hid the Starbucks bag behind him, knowing this would earn Ellie another long lecture and the Frappuccino ending in the dustbin.

"Ethan! Thank god you arrived. Look at this child, she met with such an accident and now refuses to eat healthy foods. You are a doctor, explain the benefits-" Clara was still speaking when Eleanora cut her off.

"Mum, I am a doctor as well!" Eleanora said frustratedly while giving a mean look to Ethan which said 'I told you not to inform them'.

While Ethan replied with pleading eyes saying 'how was I supposed to keep your fracture and a month long bedrest hidden from our families?'

"But Ethan has more experience-" Clara was again interrupted.

"Mom, don't worry. I will take good care of Ellie and make sure she eats proper food and takes rest. You must be tired from handling the bakery and need rest as well." Ethan said in a polite but understanding tone, making Clara smile.

"Such a sensitive boy! Ellie must have saved an entire universe in her previous life to find someone like you." Clara said affectionately as Warren, her husband, cleared his throat, signalling that she was speaking more than necessary.

After all Ellie was his baby daughter. No matter how good of a man Ethan was, he would always have eyes for his dear girl only.

Even Eleanora rolled her eyes at her mother's statement but she had a faint smile at the end, after hearing her father's voice.

"Mom-dad, let me accompany you till the gates." Ethan said, making both of them hug Ellie one last time before leaving her in Ethan's care.

"Shouldn't you be thanking me for hiding your treats from them instead of giving me that mean look." Ethan said after returning to the room.

"Let's not forget you were the one to call them here first. I told you not to-" Eleanora was speaking when someone cut her off.
