3 Chapter 2 — William promise unwillingly fulfilled

It's a quick moment that happened, their path crossed unexpectedly. Lilian couldn't have imagined that on the first day she came home from the Philippines, she would see her ex-husband that early.

" Hey, Demetri! Nice to see you there!" sweet greeting from the beautiful lady stands beside William. There was no emotion in William's eyes. She felt that until now, William still hates her.

Demetri showed his reassuring smile as a response to Santi.

" Who is she?" Santi interestingly questioned. Demetri put his arm upon Lilian's lean shoulder.

" She's my fianceé," Demetri discreetly answered. She looked up at Demetri.

How can he proudly say that?

She turned her gaze to William. He seriously looking at Demetri's face, he seems don't care about her existence. She didn't need to wonder after all. William was precisely rid of her existence in his system after the divorce.

" Oh, I see", the sophisticated woman responded.

" By the way, where is your room?" Santi asked again with a smile pasted on her kissable lips.

" Room 1027 HC," Demetri replied.

" Oh really? Only the wall parted our room, " Santi eagerly stated.

What the heck!

William whispered something to the woman and she pleasingly nodded.

" By the way, we need to go. My boyfriend and I still have an important event to attend. Have a nice day! Nice meeting you and goodbye! " Santi greeted warmly.

After William and Santi passed, Santi's fake smile immediately faded. Her sister Sophie is a bitch but she's more than like her sister. William likes bitches as he admitted it many times in his interview about his private love life.

Lilian followed her gaze to where William having a pleasing walk with his new girlfriend. She wanted to cry because her ex-husband didn't even look at her for just a second.

Anyway, she's not an important person in his life. She's nothing and a plain commoner without having a good taste for luxurious things. She was just a poor woman who came from an uneducated family. The daughter of a farmer and a selfless maid.

Comparing herself to the elegant new girlfriend of William, she's not even at her fingertips. Rich, beautiful, and she's a famous model in Asia.

What are the qualities she needs to be proud of against that kind of woman? Maybe, her attitude is far compared to her but in physical, she's on a downfall. That's why the reason why William stayed with her for so long, because of their two children.

There is a big gap between her and William in terms of status in life. But, if tried to look at William and Demetri's lifestyles their status is no different.

William Gritson is the President of Gritson Entertainment Agency, he is also a famous movie and TV director of his Entertainment agency, while Demetri Sylvestre the young CEO of Sylvestre Enterprises. They're both competitive in terms of business.

And the question is, how she got married to a rich, famous, and handsome President of Gritson? The answer is simple, William fulfilled his promise when they were still young.

[ Flashback ]

LILIAN sweeps the dry leaves in the yard alone. This is what she does every day so that she can help her mother working as a maid of a wealthy family. They have many siblings and both their parents are poor, both are uneducated so they are lack qualifications in finding a good job. Poverty in life is their main problem.

" Lilian! " A boy called her name loudly. He waved at her, so she voluntarily waved at the boy as well.

He happily approached as she held the broom with a wooden handle.

" Hello? Do you know where we came from?" The child started a conversation. She just listened to his story.

He tells a story about visiting a big mall and going to an amusement park. She is happy listening to his stories because she has once been with them on a trip before. William's parents are kind. The Gritson have own one of the expansive land in their area.

" Ah, Lilian, I forgot to bring what I bought for you. I'll take it here in a minute!" He said happily and ran back to the mansion.

He just followed him with her gaze until he had entered the mansion. While smiling, she continued sweeping. She had already swept a large part but William was still not coming back, so she was a little bit worried. She put the broom she had used back inside the stable and decided to return to the mansion.

She went inside to find William. The large size of the mansion made her not know where William went to. But, she immediately stopped when she saw him peeking into the room where his parents were talking with their hacienda workers.

She found him seriously listening to their conversation, so she was also curious. She suddenly heard things she didn't want to happen. William looked at her sadly and reluctantly walked away. She immediately followed the boy.

" We will soon be separated. I don't know if we will meet again. We will live there in America and I will also study there," he said sadly.

She was also saddened by what she heard. William gave her the paper bag. What's inside is the recording portable device that William requested his dad to buy.

" My Mom and Dad are going to sell the hacienda, so we won't own this anymore. How about us, Lilian? How about our friendship?" he asked. She held out the boy's hand.

" We'll see each other again, William. If when we meet again, I'll hug you tightly until you're suffocating," she naughty replied. She just wants to lightly break the emotion between them.

William is her only friend. He's her only best friend.

" Really? All right, when we meet again and we're at the right age. I will marry you," he promised and they sealed their pinky promise with a tight hug.

Lilian decided to use his gift and recorded their conversation about the marriage. William taught her to use it and he made a promise to marry Lilian if they meet again at their legal age.

Because of his promise and the proof, William forced himself to marry her even he has decided to withdraw his innocent promise.

For five years, she felt she didn't belong to the Gritson family especially to William’s real mother Yuri. His mother is the villain of her own story, a wicked witch who brought too much trouble to her married life.

It was good when they were still young because William's father and stepmother were kind. William's father likes her so much. He's willing that his son will go to marry her.

Although William is coerced about his promise, he withstands to fulfill it. He has no other choice because he is the one who insisted that the two of them will get married.

So they got married, but William requested it to have a secret wedding. In five years of marriage, they keep their marriage from the public. Lilian didn't do anything either. At least, he agreed to marry her even though she was just a poor woman, and he have no feeling for her at all.
