2 Introduction

"Alan, wake up. You will be late for your first day of college",said Mrs. Lennings. Alan was her second and youngest child. Stacy her daughter had died due to meningitis a few years back.

Probably that was the reason why she loved Alan so much. But Alan hated the pampering. He wished to fight his own battles... to overcome his difficulties by himself. But due to his mom's constant overreacting and protective nature, he could not do so.

Alan hated everything about his life. His parents constantly quarreled. His house was a rundown. He was from a poor family. His ambitions were never considered and he had to do everything just as his parents told him to do. He sometimes contemplated on committing suicide but then, there was one thing that kept him anchored, and those were his adventurous walks through the city. The constant poverty in his life made him grow mature at a young age. Also, he had a very analytical mind and a really strong body as well as willpower. Years of hardships had made him immune to most of the problems people were wary of, such as hunger, thirst, tiredness, etcetera among others.
