8 The Survivor

I'd awake with a small smile, remembering the dream I had. I sat up and next to me was a small mole. I had never eaten one of these but I heard they were very good, and very hard to catch. Was this my reward for bringing the pups to camp? I gobbled it down, having been more hungry than usual. After finishing the mole I got up to check up on the pups.

The pack was very lively today, almost everyone was out and about. As I was walking towards the nursery, Ivory stopped me.

"Hey Milo! Wanna go hunting? Summer and Raven are coming with us!" She'd exclaim.

"Yes but hold on, I've gotta go check on the pups."

Her face lit up, somehow even more, "Can I come? I heard they're super cute!"

"Sure," I replied exasperated. We walked together to the nursery. I continued to walk towards the Nursery, Ivory wasn't far behind.

By the time we got there Ivory was back to her endless babbling, "What do you think the puppies will look like when they grow up? I bet they'll be strong and independent-"

"Listen Ivory, They aren't our pups, there's no reason to talk so much about them or even worry about them." She looked a little wistful when I said that, it was like she knew I was right but didn't want me to be.

I almost pitied her but then I remembered I can't pity any wolf. Not even the ones I had killed, especially not them. We walked into the Nursery and saw a wolf tending to and watching the pups. It was the Omega from before. He turned to look at us.

"Hello Milo, Ivory."

"We came to check on the pups." I'd say.

"Alright, just be careful. They seem very shaken up." He'd say suspiciously.

I walked over to look at the small, weak looking pups. I thought of how easy it would be to kill them, but not now, not with everyone watching. I had to resist the urge. One of the pups looked up at me and started whining.

"Why is he so scared?" Ivory asked me, "You saved them."

"Maybe they just thought of me as a threat."

"I mean, I guess but they are fine around everyone else." She'd sigh.

Suddenly we all heard a scream. My ears perked and I started running toward it. I heard the Omega and Ivory following me. I stopped in my tracks while the other kept running. I saw the wolf who screamed, then at the barely live wolf who was lying in front of them.

I stared at him, and the wolf stared back. Then they began screaming.

Lycidas ran over to him and asked him what was wrong, the wolf pointed at me. Lycidas looked at me, and he looked like he knew what I did. He ordered the healers to take him, then he walked over to me.

"Why in the WORLD did he point at YOU!?" Lycidas shouted.

"I- I don't know…" I tried to sound as confused as possible, "I guess I remind him of whatever hurt him."

"For some reason I refuse to believe you. He looked at you with an expression I know too well. What the hell did you do."

I looked at Lycidas, thinking of something to come up with.

"I-," I began to say.

"No. You know what? I know what you did. I KNOW!" Lycidas yelled, and everybody looked at us.

Apollo ran over to us, a concerned look on his face.

"What the heck is going on here." He'd demand.

"Nothing, Milo and I will go talk in my den."

"Alright…" Apollo mumbled. We watched as he walked away. Then Lycidas grabbed me by the ear and dragged me to his den.

"Hey I can walk!" I spat.

Once we got to there he summoned his demons and had them grab me.

"Tell me what you did." He'd snap.

"I did nothing. I told you, I probably look like what attacked him. I have no idea what happened to him." I'd snarl.

"Fine, but tomorrow, when he's stronger, I'll ask him." He growled. His demons disappeared, and I left.
