10 Chapter 10

Lucy roared with laughter. Her voice coming out as many, her eyes raging fire. "You have no family. We all belong to the dark. Everyone playing their assigned roles. And I was the role giver" Then she stopped laughing. Looking at him with rage, a rage that chilled Manuel to this bones. She bellowed. "We told you to stop painting." And with that she held his wrist, her contact to his flesh burning him. A fire that sent Manuel screaming with pain. He felt hell on earth.

She kept chanting. "We told you to stop painting." Manuel's screams filled the room. They were screams borne from his soul. Lucy let go off him. "Hell will beget you too." She scowled. She was just about to dip her hands in his eyes when father Josiah came in.

Father Josiah was with a rosary on hia outstretched hands. He looked anything but scared. He held the rosary and screamed. "Depart from him oh evil one. Jesus has conquered you. Go to where ye came from to this ground beneath." Manuel breathed with relief as his mother left him and turned to face the priest her anger transfered to him.

"The earth belongs to me." Lucy growled angrily.

"No! it belongs to God. To the father Almighty, the alpha and omega. You belong in this ground. Go to where ye come from to this ground beneath."

"To this ground beneath." Two other seminarians who Manuel hadn't seen before chanted with the priest. "To this ground beneath." They Kept chanting as Lucy shouted. And tried to fight back. Her wails tearing away Manuel's heart. Soon with a loud scream she disappeared. Her last words remained. "We told you not to paint."

The priest rushed to Manuel's side. The seminarian handed him a piece of clothing which he used to tie up Manuel's bleeding hands. "It will be fine. You are here now."

That was the last thing he heard before he drifted to sleep.

Manuel woke up in a warm room covered in a blanket. His clothes had been changed and he was feeling better. Everything that happened the day before started coming back to him although it all looked like a dream. He would have believed that it was just a dream only the bandage in his Hand confirmed the reality of it all.

He looked around the cozy room. It was a small room with a wardrobe, a table and most shockingly a new canvass and brush. The thought of painting caused tremors to run down his spine.

He started to shiver when he saw it remembering how he had been warned extensively not to paint. And how painting had ruined his life.

He wondered why the priest after seeing what happened will give him a new canvass. But he knew he couldn't trust anybody so he stood up from the bed quickly. With one thought in mind and that was too leave. If his mother was the devil, then he just might be doomed after all. But he would fight still, he had to even if there was nothing to fight for. The Angel had told him to.

He quickly stood up Looking all-around for an escape route. The house was a bungalow too. There was a window high up but the table would serve as a help, Manuel hoped.

Manuel charged to work. He pulled the table close to the window determined to leave. Just as he was about to climb it a voice startled him making him loose his footing so he fell on the floor. Sending a pain to his ribs. His whole body hurt.

"Where are you going?" Father Josiah said calmly.

"Nowhere." Manuel quickly stated standing up. His hands were shaking as he starred at the priest afraid. He knew that face, he had seen them in his father.

"Ok." Josiah simply said. "You have a canvass, a brush and all you need. Paint."

"What!" Josiah exclaimed shocked.  "You know I can't. For some reasons my paintings release demons they killed___" his voice trailed off when he remembered what his mum had said.
