The First Sign Of Hope,,,

It was late in the night. Probably past midnight but the hotel was even more than it is during the day. Lenette sat in her room in the hotel contemplating how much her life had changed in such a short time. She fell for a dashing young man, she found out about the captivating world of demons and cambions and how she was one of the latter, and most importantly she had found a way cheat on exams and tests and never get caught.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

Someone knocked on the door as my mind drifted away.

"Hey, Lenette. It's Gregory. Could you please open the door? I've got something to tell you."

"Why don't you go tell your new girlfriend Anne. I'm sure she'd love to hear it. I'm sure she'd love it so much, she might want to kiss you again."

"It's not her fault her mother is a succubus." Gregory said.

That made so much sense but I still didn't get why she couldn't wait a day to make her move. I mean just how irresistible is he? I mean, I've waited months to kiss him again and I'm not dead.

I opened the door with my telekinesis, "You know you could have destroyed that door with a sneeze right?" I said as Greg shut the door behind him.

"Yeah well, where's the fun in that?"

Greg was as cool as ever like nothing could phase him but I knew there was something on his mind.

"I don't have to be telepathic to know something is bothering you. Come on now tell Dr. Lenette." I said trying to lighten the mood. But Greg's facial expression just made me feel facetious.

"Lenette. I don't think I can do this." Greg said while staring at the ground.

"Do what?"

"Fight my dad and my sister and their entire army. I mean the weight of the word is literally on my shoulders and I don't think it's possible for an 18 year-old demon prince to defeat his twin demon sister who has been in hell for the past 11years training with demons and ruling them with an iron fist and my over powered, over achieving, over demanding father who is really pissed that I left a scar on his cheek and ruined his beautiful face." Greg poured out his troubles as we sat in my hotel room.

"Well you may not be able to do it on your own but I'm with a little help from the people around you, we just might win this…"

Just then we heard a shout of frustration from the lobby downstairs.

"That's loud, I mean we're on the 17th floor? That's just crazy." I said very surprised.

"Yeah, there's only one person I know who could make a sound that loud." Greg and I teleported to the lobby to find the source of the shouts that could deafen even a fish at the bottom of the ocean.

As we arrived, we saw a boy who looked about the same age as Greg pushing the buttons on the elevator fervently, frustrated that it wasn't working- probably because Anne had another man trapped in there and was seducing him too-he let out another shriek which seemed louder than the first.

"Christopher? Is that you?" Greg asked.

"Oh my Satan. If it isn't Gregurioua Callaghan Luciferoa. It's been decades, how have you been?" The loud boy said as he walked towards us.

He was tall- well to me everyone seems tall seeing as I'm only 5"4- ,taller than Greg and he looked slightly slimmer than Greg. He had red hair and bright red eyes. His eyes looked so deep and peaceful but the red colour also made it look dangerous. It was one of those eyes that just entrance you like a good book by an amazing author. He looked like a vampire with those eyes. Ironically, he had sharp canines and pale skin but was as beautiful as a summer sunset. However what completed the vampire look for me was the pitch black trench coat with the flipped up collar and the crisp white shirt he wore underneath. He looked like a character straight out of twilight.

"Well if I recall it's only been about three weeks since I last saw you." Greg replied with a smile on his face

"Three weeks, ten years no difference. I mean what is time but a limitation to limitlessness of the day?" Christopher sounded so deep but personally that didn't make any sense.

"Oh Lenette, this is my cousin Christopher El-Hades. He's the son of my uncle Hades." Greg said

"Well, this here my friend is one of the reasons why I wish I was on the other side of this war so that I can tell the big man up there that he is an artist for creating such a masterpiece." Christopher said as he bowed and took my hand and kissed it.

"Wow" I said "That's…" Greg jumped in to complete my sentence for me, "Too much? I know. He's fond of doing that kind of stuff."

'I wonder how many girls he gets with a tongue like that.' I thought to myself

'You have no idea.' Greg replied.

"Well, what brings you here?" Greg asked

"My dad sent me here to assist you in your quest to prevent uncle Lucifer from enslaving earth." Christopher replied, still looking at the elevator door.

I had just noticed that Christopher had an eastern European accent which made me believe more and more that this guy was a vampire.

"Really? Hades? The guy who gets a new shipment of slaves every time there's a war? That Hades?" Greg said like it was the most impossible thing in the world.

"Yes my friend, that Hades. He said the world was created with balance and it's not right for his cousin who already rules one of the seven realms to want more." Christopher said still looking at the elevator door but this time he looked like he had reached his breaking point and had given up on it.

"Well, between you and me, I just think that he likes earthling women so much more when they are alive." Christopher said while whispering.

"Well I asked for the room next yours Gregurioua but they said it was occupied and I was on my way up to eject that person from the room but now that I see this glorious creature is the one I have rescinded my initial stance." Christopher said, now heading towards the staircase.

"Why don't you just teleport upstairs?" I asked

"Unlike you, my little cambion, I do not possess the power of teleportation." Christopher said as he walked away.

"So what powers do you have?" I was curious to know but I was sure I could take a wild guess and say it's something related to vampires seeing as he gave off a vampire vibe.

He got to the bottom of the staircase, leaned back holding onto the rail, and flipped his luxurious red hair back like an anime character and said, "Ask Mr. Know-it-all over there, if I talk anymore he'd rip off my skull, and it wouldn't be the first time. 'Sayonara'". After he said this, he zipped up the staircase and out of our sight.

I turned my head slowly to look at Greg, who looked embarrassed.

"It was one time. I didn't know my own strength and I tried to throw him across the room and mistakenly ripped his head off. We were 9 years old." Greg tried to justify himself to me.

I raised my arms up like a criminal caught at a crime scene, "I don't even want to know. All I want to know are what his powers are."

"You're right. He's practically a vampire without the dumb sunlight and turning into a bat thing." Greg explained

"He can run really fast, almost as fast as me or even faster, he isn't limited by the laws of gravity completely, he survives on human blood and all the other vampire stuff. Oh and despite his looks, he's over a hundred and fifty years old."

That last one took me by surprise but the rest I had already nailed down.

"This is good. Christopher is one of the strongest offspring of the 'Greek gods' and is almost as strong as I am." Gregory said but his words couldn't even convince himself. I felt that was a sign of hope but I see that Greg didn't think so. Just then, the doors opened and a man walked out looking disoriented and dizzy but with a weird smile on his face and walked out of the hotel. We wondered what had happened then we saw Anne walk out of the elevator as regal as ever like nothing had happened.

"I wonder what was wrong that young man?" Anne said

We both stared at her knowing exactly what had happened.

"Well, It's not my fault, he walked into the elevator and tried to talk to me, and Greg you of all people know I don't talk." Anne said while walking towards us.

"You know what, we don't want to know. Bye." Greg said as he grabbed my hand and took me up the staircase.

"Wait Greg hold up" I said when we were half way up the first flight of stairs.

"Yeah Lenette what's …" Greg was interrupted by an unexpected kiss on the lips. I just couldn't wait any longer.

It felt like a thousand roses were resting on my lips. Greg drew me closer and put his arms around me even tighter. He didn't want to let me go. I could see it in his eyes every time he spoke to me and I could feel it in the way he held me and kissed me. We stood there kissing for about a minute and when we were done, it was a quiet walk up the staircase. Gregory's pent house was right next to my hotel room, "Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" Gregory said with a smile on his face.

"Yeah sure." I said. I could barely look Greg in the face. Even though this was the second time we kissed it still felt like the first.

"Oh and Lenette, Lord Drago-Smith offered to give us exclusive access to the private gym in the hotel for training or whatever." Gregory told me as he opened the door to his pent house

"So I guess we'll resume training?" I asked. I was so eager to continue training especially with Greg but he said he wouldn't be the one training me and that he had gotten someone more suited to the task.

'I wonder who it might be' I thought to myself as I lay on my bed. I resumed thinking about my recent life switch but I kept getting distracted by memories of the kiss. I still don't know what came over me but I don't regret it.
