5 Intruders

...

Todd, a teen boy, sits on the front porch of his house under an awning, watching the rain poor down onto the street as he messes with a camera in his hands. A neighbor's dog barks, shortly followed by someone talking. All the clouds in the sky make it seem like it's almost night, just enough dim lighting to see clearly.

"Fluffy, you're covered in mud!" They say, and no more sounds come from their direction.

His friend, Jake, pulls up into the driveway of the house in his light grey car. Todd puts the camera in a pocket on his jacket, throws the hood over his head, and hurries to his friend's car. They take off out of town towards the sawmill.

"So, what do you think will happen once we get there?" Jake asks as they drive through the forest, about a ten minute drive from their destination.

"I don't know," Todd replies as he pulls out the camera from his jacket pocket, "But whatever happens, we'll have the video to prove it,"

"Are you sure there's an actual sasquatch here?"

"Of course, my dad won't shut up about seeing something large and hairy wandering through the woods. And, he's not the only one to have seen it,"

"Doesn't that seem odd though?"

"Of course, but it's not like sasquatch is some sort of common animal like squirrels or deer,"

"No, not that. Isn't it odd that your dad just suddenly started seeing it along with the other workers? I've never really heard of sightings for a creature suddenly show up out of nowhere,"

"What about demons? Demon sightings just appear out of nowhere because something causes them to come into our world,"

"Are you suggesting sasquatch is some other-worldly being, like a demon, that needs to be summoned?"

"No...but, my point still stands. There are things that seemingly appear out of nowhere and perhaps this sasquatch actually came from some other state or something,"

They arrive at the sawmill, the front gate locked. Jake parks the vehicle in front of the gate and the two get out, donning their hoods to provide protection from the cold rain. They walk up to the gate, pulling on it a bit before figuring out they can pull it open just enough to squeeze through and enter the grounds. As they walk into the sawmill, a silent alarm triggers, alerting the police station.

"Man, this place is kind of eerie," Jake states as they walk into the middle of the massive area, looking at the buildings under repairs around them. As they walk towards the main structure, where a giant saw blade sits upon its throne, they hear a loud metallic bang. They turn to a building that has a large hole in it, showing the inside is filled with lockers. The sound of something scraping against a locker can be heard echoing through the sawmill. The two look to each other before Todd grabs his camera. He turns it on and hits record before they start walking towards the building.

The rain pounding on the ground masks the sounds of their footsteps as they approach the building. A mixture of sweat and fish melds together into a stomach churning stench that attacks their noses. Taking a step into the building, their feet hit the concrete floor. They stop at the sound of an angry grunt coming from the other side of the room. They freeze when they see something large and covered in brown fur appear above the tops of some lockers two rows down. The creature turns to them, and they can barely see its eyes glaring at them. It suddenly lets out a beastly roar that causes the two teens to freeze in place as it shakes their spines.

The sasquatch suddenly takes off to the right towards the ends of the lockers. It reaches the end and starts charging at them, bearing its sharp, yellow, teeth. The teens finally snap out of their trance, and take off running. They can hear the creature stomping behind them as they rush to the gate, squeezing through. As Jake makes his way through the gate the sasquatch grabs onto his jacket.

"Todd! It got me! Help!" Jake cries out as he struggles to push himself all the way through the gate.

Todd drops the camera and runs over to Jake, grabbing onto his arm and pulling him.

"Take off your jacket!" Todd exclaims as he slowly starts to lose the tug of war with the beast.

Jake unzips his jacket and the two fall back as the sasquatch tears it off and stumbles back a bit. The two run to the car and start it up, the sasquatch banging against the gate, which starts to bend. The lock on the gate breaks and the sasquatch runs over to them just as Jake throws it into reverse. As they start to back up the sasquatch slams its fist onto the car, bending the hood and damaging the engine, causing the car to die. Before the beast can do anything more it sees something approaching in the distance. It lets out another roar before taking off into the woods and disappearing. Jake and Todd are relieved when they hear a car approaching from behind. They turn around and realize they're still in trouble when they see it's a cop car.

As Jerard, Randy, and Red are watching a documentary, Randy's phone goes off. He sees it's from the police station. He gets up and walks into the kitchen, Jerard pausing the show as him and Red turn and listen in on the conversation.

"Hello?"

There's a long pause as whoever's on the other side talks.

"A break in? I'll be there as soon as I can," Randy finally replies before hanging up.

"What happened?" Jerard asks.

"Some fucking kids broke the damn gate at the sawmill," Randy sees Jerard's disproving gaze and glances at Red, "Don't say those words," He quickly adds before he heads to his room and changes into some pants and a thermal shirt, "I'll be back, make sure you record those for me, will ya?' He asks as he grabs his keys and heads for the front door.

"Sure thing," Jerard replies.

Randy reaches the sawmill, seeing the busted lock and the heavily damaged car. The two teens are standing by the cop's car, both looking completely shaken up as an officer stands at the front of the vehicle.

Randy gets out of his truck, glaring at the two kids as he walks up to them.

"We got an alert from your security system," The cop states as he approaches Randy, "When I got here the gate was busted, a couple lockers were broken into, stuff inside them was trashed and thrown about, and I found this in the mud," The cop hands over the camera.

"It wasn't us!" One of the boys whines, "It was the sasquatch, it nearly killed us!" Randy pauses for a moment as he looks at the camera, glancing over at the two teens and seeing the fear in their eyes. It's not the type of fear a teen has when getting caught.

"Take em to the station, and uh, you mind if I keep this for a bit?" Randy asks, holding up the camera.

"Of course not, just don't forget to turn it in when you arrive at the station,"

"Will do, thank you Billy,"

"No problem Randy. Now, come on you two," The cop opens the door and gestures for them to get in.

"It wasn't us!" The teens cry as they get into the backseats.

"Save it for your parents," Billy replies as he closes the door, "See ya at the station," Randy nods in response before checking the camera. It won't turn on. As Billy takes off to town, Randy checks the batteries, only to find there's none in it. He goes into his truck, looking for the batteries he keeps in his glove box. As he's rummaging through all the junk in it, he starts to get the feeling of something watching him. He grabs the batteries, and places them on the seat with the camera before quickly turning around and drawing his gun.

He looks around, seeing nothing but trees. The feeling remains. Something's watching him. Not wanting to find out what, Randy gets into truck and heads back home.
