3 Full Moon Mystery

Red turns on the lamp on her nightstand, illuminating the room in a bright, soft, glow. The room is empty except for her.

What on earth could that have been?

Cautiously, she gets out of bed, and heads out into the hallway. She sees a light coming from the kitchen downstairs.

Crash!

A glass jar is thrown to the side, shattering into a million pieces at it hits the floor. She looks at her father's doorway and sees its open. Something about this, doesn't feel right. Red goes back to her room and grabs a taser from the nightstand before heading to the stairs. As shes heads down the stairs she sees a large burly creature standing in front of an open fridge. It's her dad, in his werewolf form. But, why is he in that form while in the house? The sound of him chewing something can be heard throughout the living room, making her stomach churn a bit. Like a dog smacking its lips over and over. She freezes when one of the steps creaks under her foot.

Jerard stops eating whatever's in his hand and turns to her. His growling echos through the house as he sits there, his red eyes piercing through her. He suddenly drops whatever's in his hands and runs out through the broken back doors and into the darkness of the night. Red makes her way into the kitchen and sees what he dropped, a package of raw meat. The plastic is torn to shreds, and about a forth of whatever meat was in it remains, tear marks on one end from his teeth. A shiver runs through her body as she goes to pick it up, and her hand is met with cold, slimey, mucus.

She hurries over to the trash can and drops it in, quickly washing her hands several times with soap. As she dries her hands off she looks at the backdoor. A lot of the blinds have been torn off, revealing the glass has been shattered into a million pieces.

What on earth has gotten over him?

Red puts on her house slippers, turns on the kitchen light and starts cleaning up all the broken glass and the contents of the jar he had thrown to the ground. As she sweeps up the glass at the backdoor, she notices a full moon in the sky.

Dad never mentioned anything about the full moon having any effect on him…

After Red finishes cleaning up the kitchen she grabs a blanket from the downstairs hall closet and uses some clamps to pin it up in front of the back door. The exhaustion isn't enough to stop her from worrying about her father, but after seeing how strange he acted, she decides its best to wait till morning, when he'll hopefully be human again.

Tap...tap...tap. tap. tap, tap, tap tap tap tap tap tap.

Red wakes up to the sound of heavy rain as it knocks on her window. Glancing at the blinds, it looks like it's still night time, not a trace of sunlight on any of them. She doesn't feel like she got any sleep at all. Letting out a big yawn, she grabs her phone off her nightstand and checks the time. The screen, despite being on its dimmest setting, still hurts her eyes when turns it on. After her eyes adjust, she sees that it's in fact, a couple minutes before seven in the morning.

Maybe he's home by now, and not in the forest getting drenched...thank god this happened on a friday so we have the weekend to talk about this.

Red gets out of bed, slipping on a warm, fuzzy, bathrobe and heading out to the hallway. Her dad's bedroom door is closed. She walks up to it, and turns the knob slowly, the door creaking open. She's relieved to see her dad sprawled out on the bed, though it's not a pleasant sight seeing him in nothing but boxer briefs. She quietly closes the door and heads to the bathroom.

Afterwards, she heads downstairs and sees the puddle of water quickly forming at the backdoor. She grabs some towels and placing them at the foot of it. Then she starts cooking eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns for breakfast. Not long after the food starts cooking and smelling up the house, Randy leaves his room, in a long grey robe that goes down to his knees and matching slippers.

"Morning grandpa," Red greets him.

"Morning sweety," He says as he rubs the top of her head and looks at all the food she's cooking. He goes to grab a piece of bacon from a plate, but Red smacks his hand, "Hey," He says with a butthurt look.

"You need to wait," Red states as she flips the hashbrowns, "Last time I let you get bacon early, there wasn't any left for me or dad,"

"Alright, alright," Randy chuckles as he sits down at the kitchen table. As he looks around, he notices the blanket over the backdoor, and the towels on the ground. He gets up and moves the blanket to the side, seeing the broken doors.

"What the, hell, happened?" Randy asks as he turns to Red, "Did this happen this morning?"

"No," Red replies as she finishes cooking up the last couple of eggs, "It was, uh, dad…"

"Jerard?" Randy lowers the blanket so rain doesn't come pouring in, "Why the hell did he do that? How the hell did he do that?"

"I'm, not sure. He did it sometime last night when he came inside to eat some of the meat we had in the fridge. He was, still in his werewolf form. He ran out when he saw me coming down the stairs,"

Randy glances back at the blanket then looks down at the ground as he places a hand on his chin.

"I'm gonna go have a word with him," Randy states with a serious look on his face before he heads for the stairs, snatching a piece of bacon on the way out of the kitchen. As she hears a door upstairs open up, Red finishes cooking the last egg and puts it on a plate filled with more eggs before she hurries upstairs.
