2 Chapter Two

Cool brisk air hit her, they were finally outside. Laurina crossed her arms, a notable shiver coursed through her. Tristen wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her against his chest. He radiated heat, the cold never bothered a demon even a half breed. Heat swept against her side, the chill finally passed. She let out a low sigh.

"What the hell man, I have ten missed calls. What's up with all the texts?" Tristen asked.

Michael wiggled his eyebrows up and down. "What's the matter was someone having a good time?"

"Ugh, shut up Michael." Rina said.

The car door swung open behind them revealing a brunette in a leather bodysuit and pink eyeshadow.

"Come on you guys let's get out of here." she shouted.

"Ah Sarah we're coming." Michael said followed by a nervous laugh.

"Is she drunk?" Rina slapped him in the arm.

Michael lifted his hands in defense and backed away chuckling. He rubbed the back of his head.

"Well you see-"

"Michael, her brother will kill you! You know he doesn't like you and her coming home wasted won't help." Rina yelled.

"Yeah and your lecherous ways don't help either." Tristen muttered.

"Right, right let's get out of here." Michael said.

They hopped in the black sedan, Sarah began to doze off while Tristen and Laurina sat in the back. Clawed fingers dragged lightly over her thigh that was pressed against Tristen's leg. The sensation sent shivers down her body. Rina shifted side to side as Tristen began to rub her thigh.

"So we're still doing it this year?" Michael asked.

"Huh?" Rina focused on Michael as Tristen continued to press against her.

"The glory forest? The date is two weeks away."

"Wow, man I totally forgot about that." Tristen said.

"I mean we do it every year so not sure why."

"Shut up Michael." Tristen snapped.

"Ugh would you all shut up." Sarah said and clutched her head.

Rina scooted forward. "Here let me help." she pressed her hand over Sarah's temple, a soft blue hue engulfed her fingers.

Sarah let out a groan. "Geez you're a lifesaver, thank you." she leaned against her hand.

"That will help with the headache but you're still technically drunk, sorry can't get rid of that."

"Mmm...you priestesses have all the fun, all that power and healing abilities." Sarah said.

"Don't forget all that training we had to do, practically made us all socially awkward. We had no time to do anything else." Rina countered.

"I know, I know but it's still cool. My clan was all about demon slaying, we can put up a real good fight and our poisons are the best but what do we even need it for now a days."

"Feh, you'll need it in the glory forest." Tristen cut in.

"Yeah, maybe but it's still different, the low level demons will get a whiff of your scent and run the other way." Sarah said.

"Don't worry Sarah dear, I'll protect you." Michael chuckled.

"Yeah right, I still don't get how anything holy runs through your veins with your perverted ways." Sarah snapped.

"Now, now-"

"Ugh whatever Michael." Sarah turned to the two in the back. "I definitely wanna go you two up for it?"

"Hell yeah." Tristen said.

"Yeah I'm up for it. When you think about it, it's the only time we all really get to let loose. It's the only place untouched by any technology." Rina added.

"Yeah I feel like I can breath there." Tristen grumbled.

"Your poor nose, I don't know how you deal with all the city smells." Rina rubbed his knee as she tilted her head against his shoulder.

The glory forest was labeled as sacred land amongst the four Lords. Over five hundred years ago a treaty was signed by two demon Lords residing in the east and west and two human Lords ruling over the north and southern lands. The glory forest was located between the north and western lands, therefore they had free access to the area while others had to schedule their visits. It was the only area elite demons, the Tai's could release their inner forms and bask in the untouched land.
