18 Chapter Eighteen

He didn't care if the bastard didn't know what he did. That still wasn't an excuse for what he did to Rina. She was supposed to be his and Damien took that away from him. His instincts pushed him to protect her no matter what, to take her back.

A shudder went down his spine. He wasn't sure what she wanted anymore, Rina may have looked the same but her entire life was different. She had other things to worry about, a son to take care of. She was a mother now. His hands twitched at the thought.

'The next time I see him, he will pay for what he did.' Tristen thought angrily.

His resentment soon ebbed away as he stared at Nathaniel leaping across the small field. The distinct sound of crickets rushed through the small field, he rolled over and went on all fours staring at the grass. A small cricket leaped on another blade of grass with Nathaniel following right behind it.

'I can't believe I'm actually an uncle, Nathaniel is my nephew…'

'She should have been ours.' his beast growled.

Tristen flexed his fingers but chose not to respond.

Michael sighed as he saw the anger Tristen was holding onto fade. He knew why Tristen was angry and he couldn't blame him. He felt the same way but did nothing because he trusted Rina's judgment. Who was he to tell a woman how they should feel after what happened to them.

Nathaniel's head shot up, his little nose scrunched up before a low growl trickled out.

"Something is coming," he said.

Broken branches sounded just beyond the tree line. Tristen unsheathed his sword cursing at himself for not sensing the demon earlier. Michael readied himself.

Nathaniel pulled out the katana his great-grandfather gave him for his birthday. Thin wisps of blue energy came forth and wrapped around the short blade. Thin green threads floated from the tips of his fingers on his left hand. He dropped into a fighting stance preparing for what was coming.

Tristen gapped at Nathaniel's actions. "What the hell?!" The green energy was exactly like his brothers.

Michael dropped his arms stumped at what he was seeing. Nathaniel ignored Tristen's vocal reaction and focused on the target that came barreling through the tree's.

-O-

Damien followed the demon's trail which was obvious to even the human eyes. He walked by a torn tree trunk, large prints on the soil led him to his target. He was nearing the end of the trail when he heard a familiar voice.

"What the hell?!"

Followed by a crash that shook the ground beneath his feet. Damien stepped in to the clearing but no one noticed him as everyone including himself focused on the little boy. The demon was a reptilian form over five feet tall, green scales and its claws resembled a falcons talons.

It sped towards the boy. But he dodged the large demons clawed appendages only to be sliced off by the little boy's green hued whip causing the demon to yell in agony.

Witnessing the attack Damien's eyes widened in disbelief. The boy had the ability to use the poisonous whip. It was a rare trait from his mother's side, very few were able to perform this attack. From what he was aware of there was no other beside his mother and himself could perform this attack.

Somehow this little boy was able to perform the attack at such a young age that even he himself could not have accomplished in his youth. Now Damien was determined to find out who this pup was, he had to be a relative of his somehow. The real question was how come he didn't know about this pup and what was he doing here with Tristen of all people.

The Demon leaped towards the boy but he quickly dodged the attack and flicked his whip down. the green energy cut into its back resulting in a screeching howl. The boy wasted no time in cutting the demon down, the blow turned him into ash. Damien couldn't see what the child looked like. His back was facing him.

-O-

Rina ran towards her son and hugged him tightly. A cool breeze scattered the ashes across the field.

"I'm glad you're okay," Rina said into his hair and kissed the crown of Nathaniel's head.

"Mom...someone else is here," Nathaniel whispered into her chest. She went rigid unsure of who it could be.

Tristen quickly turned around looking for the threat only to find Damien staring at the back of Nathaniel's form. He snarled.

"You bastard!" Tristen yelled running towards Damien swinging his sword recklessly to meet thin air. Damien was on the other side of the field with his blade unsheathed. But his attention remained at the little boy 's silver head, the priestess held him from his sight.

"Whose pup is that?" Damien asked uninterested, hiding his curiosity.

'Guess Rina was right he doesn't remember shit.'

"None of your damn business you asshole!" Tristen yelled charging towards Damien's once again, only to be back handed by Damien slamming him against a tree knocking him unconscious. It seemed Damien was not playing anymore he wanted his answer. He sheathed his weapon and walked an even pace towards the pup and Rina, only to be blocked by Michael. Sarah came running up the field and saw what was happening. Panting she ran and stood next to Michael.

Raising a perfect brow he stared at the humans before him. Taking two steps back he evaded the females large clubbed weapon effortlessly.

Damien growled, he had enough of these foolish games, this human dared to attack him. He was ready to kill them if it wasn't for her words.

"He's my son," Rina whispered, diverting her glazing orbs from his glare.
