1 Chapter 1, The unexpected

When one is a senior in high school they are expected to work hard and graduate at the end of the year then go off to college or work. Through for Hanji Davis it didn't exactly go that way.

.....

Hanji's mother was home, in the the kitchen peeling potatoes for dinner. She was a small Japanese woman with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Hanji on the other hand had little brown hair and green eyes much like his father who's eyes were more of a hazel then a green. Hanji how ever did get his mother's body type. slightly smaller and slimmer muscles. He won't complain the fact the he was shorter then most other males ment people didn't expect him to beat them in fencing; It often gave him the upper hand. He set his backpack down on the couch and joined his mother in the kitchen. While at time like these he'd rather be playing VR in his room, his mother appreciated when he came and helped her. Help as ment that dinner would be done fast and probably just round the time his father came home from work and they would be able to eat like a family. Besides he had a whole summer ahead of him to play, and his job as a waiter didn't start until next week. He walked to one of the many drawers in the kitchen and pulled out a peeler before sitting down and helping his mother. He could tell by the ingredients on the table that for dinner they were having both his and his father's favorite meal. A roast with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. the meat roast was most likely what was in the oven that sat just at the end of the counter. between it and the sink as a smaller counter the held a vase full of spatulas and whatnot.

"How was your last day"

His mother ask as he started peeling his second potato. He hadn't done much today, seeing as it was the last day of school. He had signed year books picked up his diploma and talked to friends for the most part. Seniors like himself weren't even required to go. He went the fencing practice early because he saw not point to stay at the school for the whole 7 hours. and then come home still dress in the clothes he practiced in.

"It was uneventful, but pretty good"

he decided after his thoughts. As they finished peeling, his mother told him to change and shower jokingly telling him he smelled worse then the time he had played with skunks as a kid.

.....

Many thought crossed his mind as he showered as they often do. Some of the gay jokes he and his friends used to make in the locker room while they showered. The time he told his friends he was in fact gay and one joking ask him to suck them off. He had punch his friend's arm for that, but it didn't stop his friend from continuing to joke about how he would return the favor. Thoughts of all the stupid pranks they had pulled on the teachers for the past for year surface making him laugh at a couple of them. He couldn't believe it was all over he wouldn't be going back to summer in the fall. Maybe his mother would let him hang out with a couple friends before dinner. Maybe he could pull one last joke for the end of the year. He got out of the shower and dressed in comfortable but is to move in clothing. He dumped the contents of his backpack on his bed only picking out things he would need to put back in. His phone and charger when in the bag first, along with his emergency kit in held bandages and medicine. He and his friends did stupid thing it would be best if he brought it just in case. It had safed them many times before. Snack wer the next thing in the bag then his pocket knife and lock picking kit from there hiding spot under his dresser. There were a few of his talents he didn't want his parents to know about. With every thing he believed he would need, he took his bag and walks down stairs; calling out to his mother as he did.

"Mom is it ok if I go over to Josie's house."

his friends name was real Josiah but that had become a nickname for him every sense genderbend day were he made a convincing girl. His mother looked out at him from the kitchen.

"do you have your phone with you"

Was all she asked befor she went back to checking the roast's temperature.

"Yes" hanji replied as he put on his shoes.

"Then be careful and come home before you dad gets home."

He nodded before making his way to the door. Josie's house wasn't to far but just enough that it would be a pain to walk there. He glanced at his mother's car he had a license but not permission from his mother. As much as he wanted to drive he knew better then to take it with out asking. He made his way to the garage and grabbed his bike. He would have to see if he could beat his time on how fast he could make it the Josiah's home. He checked the time and took off as fast as he could down the road. If only he had wait a couple more seconds. just as he turns the right hand corner an man in a gray truck came barreling down the road half his car on the sidewalk. Hanji pulled on his breaks and tried to move out out of the way causing him to ride quickly onto the other side of the road. The while SUV didn't have enough time to stop and much less slammed and more crushed both hanji and his bike. Hanji felt the most pain for the last minute of his life in his ribs were the handle bar of his bike was not smashed in between ribs in seemed. Death brought a darkness to his vision.

....

when hanji say a light he though that maybe he was waking from a dream and he had fallen a sleep in the shower but when ever when he could see his surroundings he was in what looked to be an officem beside form to fact there wer plants covering the walls and a small statue on the desk that looked similar to a new born. In the center of the office sitting behind the desk dressed in Hawaiian clothes was a man with a short white beard and tanish skin.

"hello, why dont you sit down"

The man said in a calming voice as he pointed to the chair infront of the desk. Hanji not knowing what to do just did as the man said. As he sat he notice he had his backpack with him as it made it hard to sit right. He ended up taking off and putting on his lap. The man behind the desk waited until he was comfortable before he started talking.

"I must apologize to you for Danzi. for I doubt he will. I am sorry he killed you."

hanji realize he really must be dead. Is he here to be judge be fore he when to heaven or hell.

"oh but I did in an accident right. that car didn't mean to hit me"

"Well kind of..... wait your not mad."

"well I'm already dead there's not much that can be done. Yes I'm upset I didn't get to talk to Josie and I won't ever see my family again but there's not much that can be done. sure being a wrathful ghost and haunting my friends could be fun. "

"oh well that's an interesting way to look at it.... um so Danzi the the God alcohol was the man in the gray truck it's his fault your dead. And seeing as it was a God's fault your dead who wasn't the God of death, to make up for your lose I will compensate you for it with the opportunity to live again"

"you'll what"

The tan man who had yet to introduce himself when write to work he pulled out a little note book and started written things down.

"You'll obviously want to be a hero that's every young mans dream. There was a king who was trying to summon a hero just a few moment ago so this will work perfectly. You'll need a good sword so I'll let you take one of Arteta's, she the goddess of war and sword play. Hmmm should I make you taller or no you'll look cute tha way. do you want to take anything with you just so I can make Danzi pay the consequences of his actions?" The man asked finally looking up from his book and looking at him.

" umm my backpack and it's contents" he says see as it is the only things with him.

"Yep of course. Well Hanji Davis I hope you have fun try not to die if it helps I'll make sure your a lot harder to kill. I'm quite good at that seeing as I'm the God of life. " the man... God of life let out a small laugh

"if you have any question feel free to call me on that phone of yours I'll mostly be your only contact that works. Off you go"

Hanji got up to ask something now that what the God was say sunk in he had questions. but before he could ask them the world went dark again. 'Why does it go black like that' was another of question now added to his list.
