1 The Birth of Something Sinister

Father used to be so nice and caring. But, one day, he came home, and he was really mad about, seemingly nothing. I don't know why he was so mad. All I know is that he took it out on me and mother, for some reason. This has gone on for about a year now. After his latest fit of anger, I ran into my room and locked the door. As he banged on it, I could hear him yell: "OPEN THIS DOOR, WILLIAM!" I laid in my bed on my side, curled up, and grasped my knees with my hands. As I got into this position, I could feel the emotional pain in my heart, followed by crying. Thoughts fill my head, like: "Is it my fault that he's this way?" "Does he hate me?" and "Am I really that bad of a kid?" Suddenly, I hear father speak again. "You better not lock this door next time. Or else, your punishment will be even worse." After he said this, the saddening thoughts filled my head again, and I continued to cry.

I must have cried myself to sleep, because I woke up the next day, to the sun shining in my face. I just hope that father is at work. Maybe then, I can go to school without mental bruises again, for once in a few months. Anger and rage filling me, I punch the wall. As I do this, it almost felt like something was just created inside my head. Suddenly, I feel the pain from hitting a wall with my bare fist at full force. I decide to just shake it off, since there's nothing else, I can really do about it.

Thankfully, father was at work, and I was able to get to school without seeing him.

"I wasn't existing just a moment ago, and now, suddenly, I exist. And the one thing that I feel, is this feeling of rage towards one person. It feels great!" Suddenly, the entity talking laughs maliciously. "I want to experience more of these kinds of feelings. No, I NEED to experience more of these kinds of feelings." The entity says.

One night, the entity was controlling William's body, and heard something. It seemed to be crying. "Oh, that sound is music to my ears." It thinks, as it follows the sound to its source. Then, the entity sees William's dad, and hears him mumbling something and crying. It then notices that William's father seems to be writing something on a sheet of paper. As soon as he seems to be finished writing, a gunshot can be heard. The entity frowns, disappointed it didn't have the chance to do it itself. But it did have the chance to do something else.

I wake up and see my father on the floor; blood spilling out of the left side of his head. "FATHER!" I yell. I may not have particularly loved my father this past year, but he's still my father. I run over to my father's body. "Father! FATHER!" I shake my father's lifeless corpse, and then notice something on his desk. It was a paper, slightly stained with the blood of my father, and, what seemed to be, a tearstain. The note read as follows: "Clara, at least, I'm hoping Clara found this note first. I'm sorry for what I'm about to do, but my mind has been... scrambled, ever since I fell off that ladder while working. I don't know why I'm doing these things. All I know... is that the only way to stop myself... is to... Well, you already know what I'm about to do, since you found my body with this note. But, just know this, I love both of you. And, if it is William reading this, I love you, son. Please never doubt that. I'm sorry for hurting you. And that's the reason why I'm doing this. I don't want to hurt you any more than I already have... and I know my mind isn't going to be clear for too much longer. Goodbye Clara... and goodbye William. Again, I love you both. I'm sorry.

Your father, and husband,

Vlad Afton"

I start to sob. "Vlad!" I hear mother scream, as she runs towards father's lifeless corpse. I notice that she was carrying a shotgun. Still sobbing, I look at her. "William, what happened?!" She asks, as she lays the shotgun down and kneels beside me. I don't say anything, I just continue to sob, as I lower my head and hand her the note. A few moments pass, and I feel her embrace me. "It's going to be okay, William. It's going to be okay." She assures me, as I continue to sob. Mother always had been a strong person when it came to emotions. "It's going to be okay..." She assures me again, as I finally calm down. "I believe you, mother." I say, as I hug her back.
