Jax walks throw the Mercy High main hall every other student staring at him. He can't think of the reason why or maybe he can; there was a dark purple bruise around his eye and a cut on his lip. "Hey... Jax are you okay..." a smooth voice hit Jaxs ear with a hint of worry in it. Jax turned to see Em looking at him with concern in her eyes.

Jax specks but in a whisper, "yes I'm fine... I just fell, that's all I promise". Em knows that Jax was lying to her; she grabs his hand and pulls him outside of the building. "Hey, where are you taking me, you crazy person," Jax asks with irritation in his voice. Em gives him a dirty look and throws him in front of herself and looks at him, waiting for him to tell her what is going on. "Jax what happened to your face and do not lie to me I will hurt you," Em says looking at him.

"Okay... okay I was fighting for money again I know what you are going to say and no I will not stop I need the money," Jax tells her and sees that she is furious and looks like she is going to kill him.

"Damnit Jax what the hell are you thinking you know that there are better ways to get money just get a job," she looks at Jax and sees that he is not going to stop, but that is not going to stop her from yelling at him for this. Jax laughs and smiles that her words, he hugs her, "I'm sorry for making you worry, and for making you yell at me we should get to class."

She looks at him and shacks her head no "I have a better idea follow me." Em grabs Jaxs hand and they start to walk to her car Jax opens his mouth to ask her what she is doing. "Well, I thought that for your birthday we could just blow off school and just hang out at my place if that is okay with you," Em says with a smile. Jax looks that her and stops walking and opens his mouth to speak "We can't, I have a lot of work to do today but we can hang out after school, besides my sister is coming to town today as well."

Em looks at him with a blank expression, then she smiles and agrees they both start to walk back into the school. Both of them hear the school bell ring, and they look at each other and say their goodbyes. Jax walks to his first class Math he dreads Math class it wasn't because Mr. Heart it was the Math problems he found them to be a announce. Everything about school got on Jaxs nerves the grades and the people except for Em she was the saving grace of his school life. Her and Jax have been best friend's scenes he could remember, but Jax can't help but feel a pain in his chest whenever he thinks of her as just a friend.

Jax loves Em, but he doesn't want to make things wired if he tells her, so he has hidden his feelings for her for the last three years of high school. "Hey Jax, are you still with us," Mr. Heart asks Jax.

"Yes, I am sir," Jax responds calmly. Jax looks around the classroom and sees a face that he never thought he would see in a long time, he see the face of his childhood friend Alex in the hallway outside the classroom. He gets up and leaves the room "Hey Jax get back here class is not over!" Mr. Heart yells out to him, but, Jax keeps walking with his bag in hand.

"Long time no see Alex how have you been," Jax says in a cold tone.

"What up with cold shoulder Jax I thought were friends," Alex says in a very soft and seductive tone. They walk out to the football stands to sit and talk it has been two years ever scenes they have spoken to one another. After they sit, Jax asks her point blank, "Why are you here. I thought you and your family left town for good."

"I came back to celebrate your 18th birthday or did you forget my promise to you Crow," Alex looks at Jax with love and kindness in her eyes.

"Don't call me that you lost the right to call me Crow ever again," Jax looks at her with nothing but hate. Alex, a girl with black hair and blue eyes and a kind smile that would warm the heart of the coldest person ever but to Jax, it has lost all its charm. "You left me with these people that hate me you and Em where the only real friends that I ever made and you left, you and I, we are not friends," Jaxs say with a monotone voice looking at the ground.

Alex looks at him and says "I think if Em can forgive me, I think you can too, so Jax please can you let me back into your life I want to make up for the two years I missed."

"Jax, please try to forgive her she is trying to make up for the mistake of her family," Em says out from behind them. Em walks up to them and her and Alex hug like old friends should they both look at Jax. He gets up and looks that both of them, Alex and Em look that Jax smiling, he looks away and walks away from both of them and walks out of school.

"Don't worry Alex. I think he just needs some time to think about what is happening," Em says to Alex, put her hand on her shoulder.

"I just hope he can forgive me before midnight tonight, because he is about to have a rude awaking," Alex whispers under her breath almost like she is afraid of speaking.

Jax walks down the road and can't help but think about Alex and how Em was able to forgive her so fast. Images of Jax's father flash in his mind. The only real thing that Jax can remember about his father is him walking out the door and Jax running after him yelling "WHY?" He thinks this over for some time. The questions that he has asked himself over so many years' starts to pill up in his head. Why did he leave? What did I do wrong? How could I fix it? I want my father back.

Jax shakes his head and reminds himself of the promise he made. He will not think about that man ever again. The only family he needs in his life is his mother. For all, he cares his father can rot in hell. Before long, Jax finds himself in front of his house, and he looks at it but, he does not want to go inside. He walks past it and enters the park right next to it and sits on the swing set. He closes his eyes and lets the cold air wash over his warm face; his hair slowly moves with the wind.

He opens his eyes and the park is gone and sees himself in a clearing. It was an out of body experience he sees his body. He can see his favorite jacket; it was a windbreaker with his favorite band logo and name on the back. His face was white… whiter then it usually is it's almost like fare has overtaken his whole body. Jax looks over to the other side of the clearing and see a man with a beard and is dressed in a sharp looking suit but, he is shrouded in flame almost like he is commanding them with his mind. Jax hears himself yell out, "Who are you? Why are you following me?" But before he could listen to a response from the man, he felt a tug on his shoulder.

In one swift moment, Jax is ripped out of the wired dream and pulled back to the park and the swig sit. "Hey… wake up. You know you can't fall asleep in a place like this by yourself," Em tells him as he looks up at her with wide eyes. Jax looks down that his hands and closes them and stands up.

"I know… But the wired thing is… I don't remember falling asleep." Jax looks at Em again, trying to focus his eyes.

"Hey Jax, are you, okay you look like you're about to pass out, we should get you inside," Em reaches out and grabs his hand. She fell's how hot his hand is and gasps "Jax you are burning up we need to get you inside." Em pulls Jax out of the park and into his house. Em points at the couch, and Jax sits down; Em pts her hand on his head and fells his tempter. "Jax why are you so hot this is not a cold nor is it the flu."

Just as Em finishes talking the front door of the house opens and Jaxs mom and sister walk in and see them. "Hey Em I didn't think we were going to see you toda…" before Jax's mom can finish her sentence Jax passes out, and his head hits the coffee table with a loud smack. "Jessica, go grab the first aid kit now," without missing a beat Jaxs mom pulls him up and lays him down on the couch. Jessica runs back into the room with the aid kit.

"You know that won't help anything except for the gash on his head," Jessica says moving Jaxs hair out of the way so they can see the cut on his head. Blood slowly falls from his head.

Jax opens his eyes and looks around and see Jessica "When did you get here, Jess," he whispers as he sits up. He feels a splitting headache and reaches up and feels the blood with his hand. He tries to stand up, but his mom stops him and pushes him gently back on to the couch.

"I got in town just an hour ago, but we got home, and we saw you and Em, she was feeling your head. All of the sudden you just fell over and hit your head on the end table," she starts to stitch up the cut.

"I was checking his tempter he was burning up for some reason, but I guess it's gone now," Em walks over to Jax and crouches next to him. She holds his hand and feels that his tempter has gone back to normal and he is more alert then he was just a minute ago. She can't help but wonder what happened, but she pushes that thought out of her head and focuses on helping Jax.

"Well whatever it was it has pasted," Jaxs mom says as she helps Jessica finishes stitching up the cut. She helps Jax up to his feet. Jaxs looks up at her and smiles as a way of saying thanks. Jaxs looks around the room and sees a light out the window, it's bright, and it lingers out of there window for a second or so but, disappears. Jax writes it off as a car driving by or a person walking down the road.

"So, Jax, why were you in the park? Me and Alex couldn't find you for hours," Em asks with an air of caution about her. They lock eyes, and Em sees a wave of anger filling Jaxs eyes he was almost saying, why did you even bother looking. Em quiets, and Jax stands up and starts to walk to his room.

"Jax where are you going Jessica is home, and we have a guest. Don't be so rude; I know I raised you better than that," Jaxs mom reaches out and stops him from walking. Jax looks at the ground and turns to her and sighs loudly. "Now Em did you say Alex was in town." Em looks up and nods her head and opens her mouth to speak but stops herself.

"Well, that can't be good, because she left Mercy to learn how to use her power. She can only be here to help Jax learn how to use his without killing anyone," Jessica says, throwing a phone over to Jax. "Happy birthday baby brother." Jax looks down, and the phone starts to ring "You should answer that," Jessica puts her hand on Jaxs shoulder.

The phone rings and Jaxs looks down and see the caller ID and sees a name it reads Abraham he answers and says, "Hello."

"Well this is going to be wired, but you are in danger to losing your life if you don't go with Alex. You and her needed to leave Mercy and come to the city," the man says in a calm voice that can put you to sleep. "Trust Alex, and you will make it out of town alive," he keeps saying to trust Alex, but Jax can't bring himself to trust her.

"Who are you? What are you talking about I am safe right now," Jax with a cloud of confusion overwhelming his every thought? The man was silent for a while, and when he did speak again, he told Jax that Alex is running over to his house to get him and they are going to Architects City.

"Jax how do you not know that you are a Nephilim your power is awakening right now because today is your 18th birthday," Jax stood in the middle of the room and felt his body's weight about to crush him. He takes a deep breath and lets it out in a very loud sigh. The man continues speaking, "Listen, Jax, you need to remember when you get here. You need to say you are here to see Abraham. You will be let in then you will be under our protection."

"What do you mean by under your protection? Who is coming after me?" Jax asks as Alex bursts throw the door and the phone hangs up. Everyone's eyes lock onto Alex. Jessica walks up to her and pulls her to Jax and tells both of them to get moving.

"We don't have much time left before the organization comes to get you Demon," Jessica hasn't called Jax Demon in years. So why did she call him it now of all times? Alex grabs Jaxs hand, but Jax doesn't move.

"I'm not leaving without Em she is as much a part of this as you are Alex," Jax turns around and sees Em bleeding from the mouth and the chest. At that moment time slows down as Em falls to the floor and a masked man looks right at Jax. "Emily NOO…" Jax screams and rushes the masked man. Jax pulls his fist back plants a firm hit on the man breaking his mask. The mask falls and reviles burns on the man's face they are old he got them some years back but, Jax didn't care he just killed Em.

Jaxs pulls his fist back again, but this time with more anger and power, everyone in the room can see that Jax's fist is engulfed in flame. Jax lands the second hit right on the man throat breaking his windpipe, killing him. He looks at his hand and sees the fire he whispers "I get it now why people call me Demon."

"We need to leave Jessica and Marry will handle the aftermath here…" Alex tries to pull him back to reality, "JAX lets go; we need to leave now." Jax looks at her and nods his head, and they run off. So many thoughts fill Jaxs head. How could Em be dead? How could I have these powers? Why did I kill that man? Jax knew that he could have just knocked that man out and waited for the cops, but no, he killed him.

The thoughts racing throw Jaxs head kept him distracted, so when Alex stop run after what felt like 5 minutes but in reality, it was a solid 15. Alex pulls out her phone and leads the way to the place they need to go, but, she does not tell Jax where she is taking him. She hasn't told him what the hell is going on; at the start of the day he was just an ordinary high school student and now he is a cold blood murderer and, now he can make flame manifest out of nowhere. If anything, she needs to give him some answers and fast.

"Okay, we can stop. I need to do something," Alex says having them stop in front of a train station. Jax opens his mouth to ask her what is going on, but Jax sees that Alex starts drawing on the station's wall. Jax stands back and looks on to see what happens. After she finishes the drawing and it looks like a hex she put her hand on the drawing and whispers something in Latin. A door opens, and a white light starts to shine, Alex grabs Jaxs hand and pulls him throw.
