23 Chapter Twenty-Three: The Ten

The capital city of the Empire, Ludwig, was bustling with activity.

"Quickly! Move those over there!"

"Hey you! Deliver this to the Maiden Bakery!"

"You can't take that! Hey!"

Alice walked through the streets as people ran all over the place. She grabbed a man and asked him a question. "What's going on?"

The man smiled when he saw how expensive her clothes looked. "You must not be from around here, lady. The Hero Prince Jason's wedding is coming up, and the city is in full swing making everything needed." The man pulled away and immediately began going back to what he was doing.

"Doesn't it take a while to plan a wedding?" Alice watched the people and smiled. "I've always wanted to crash a wedding. Why do I say that like I've heard of other weddings?"

- Host's memories as: Arthur Williams, show Host having a bucket list which included crashing a wedding. Host never completed this. -

'System, can you stop licking away my old memories please? I might eventually forget you're here.' Alice began to walk casually towards what looked like an inn.

- Memory Lock: Disabled -

She began humming as she moved through the people. 'Is this our last embrace? Or will the walls...'

Pushing open the door, she noticed a group of figures in the corner of the building who seemed to be dividing a few items. They seemed to be adventurers.

Alice walked up to the counter and laid down a silver coin. "How many nights is this?"

The Demon receptionist smiled. "Four nights."

"When is the prince's wedding?"

The adventures began to fight, eventually spilling out the back door. Alice heard gusts flying and people grunting before the one who looked like the leader of the group walked back inside. He wasn't injured at all, but the three who followed him were.

The receptionist continued to smile as Alice looked at her neck. Her eyes narrowed. "The wedding will be in one month. You're room will be R-09."

Alice laid down seven more silver coins. "I'll stay a month." She stared at the group of adventurers. The leader had short blonde hair and blue eyes that shined brightly.

"Guys, we agreed we'd split it evenly this time, right? Stop fighting over loot like that!" The leader smiled as he patted what's looked like an archer on the back. The archer was an elf that wore a green and grey tunic.

Alice sighed as she walked up the stairs. "What's with Elves always having a bow?"

The leader laughed for a moment as he watched Alice go up the stairs. One of the others looked at him. "What do we do, boss?

That's her right? That mask matches the description."

The leader nodded. "We do nothing. We're a surveillance unit for a reason."

Alice shut the door to her room. It was a rather large room, with its own bathroom and closet. She leaks on the bed and took out the burned book. 'How do you work? If you have all history of the universe, wouldn't everything be here?'

She opened the book and began reading through the history from

the eighteen-hundreds to the late two-thousands. 'Industrial Revolution...Great War... Interwar Period? Second World War?' Alice looked closely at the book. 'World War Two began on September first, in nineteen thirty-nine? Adolf Hitler was even the one responsible!' She began to grasp the book tightly.

'What world was this before the Holy Wars? System, in my original world, what year was Adolf Hitler assassinated?'

- In Universe Three, Earth Three, Adolf Hitler was assassinated on August twelfth, nineteen thirty-seven. -

Alice's expression immediately changed. She couldn't comprehend that she lived in a different universe. 'U-Universe Three?System... what universe are we in?'

- Out of the Ten Universes, Host and System are currently in Universe Seven, Host's original Universe. It's also known as the Separation. -

'Why is it called that?'

- It was cared for by System's creator, Fetoria. Her creator, who is _________, created the other nine universes. -

Alice laid back onto the bed as the open book laid on her chest. 'How was I taken from my universe?'

- Host's Soul, when formed, was ripped from Universe Seven, becoming Arthur Williams. -

- When Host's Soul was ripped from Universe Seven, Arthur Vermont was never born, and humanity lost the majority of the world to Demonic Conquest and reawakening of other beings. -

- Would Host like to continue? -

'History changed because my soul wasn't available? Don't continue.'

Alice stared at the ceiling, seemingly dead. 'What the hell...' She seemingly laid there for days, not knowing what to do with the information.

- Host has been inactive for: Eighteen Days. -

Hearing the notification, Alice suddenly blinked. 'Sorry, System. You just dumped a lot of information on me that I did not need.'

- Host read the book, not System. -

'Was that sass, System? System?' She sighed before getting up. 'I should take a bath.'

She walked into the bathroom and stripped away her white robes and cloak, revealing her flawless figure. She ran the water and got in, thoroughly cleaning herself.

After thirty or more minutes, she got out and dried herself off with flame magic. As she began to use Item Creation to make clothes, she stopped herself.

"I have to practice Creation more. That gender changing pill worked on that person but..."

- It is a trivial process. Host's gender can not be affected. -

"That's fine. I wasn't planning on doing anything like that. I will need Creation mastered if I plan to eventually become the Goddess of Creation in one of ten universes." She sounded a bit sarcastic when she spoke. Alice walked out of the bathroom, noticing the door was unlocked. She immediately Locked it and looked around the room.

'There's... something. I can't put my finger on it.' She put a robe from the bathroom on and immediately began to check the room for what could possibly be magic bugs or cameras.

After checking everything, she sighed, sitting on the floor. 'Time to make clothes.'

'Creation.' Alice closes her eyes as she imagined fabrics weaving together, creating a single sleeve. Opening her eyes, she saw a mangled mess of fabric in front of her.

'This will be a lot harder than Item Creation.'

'Creation.' Alice spent a few days like this. Failing, creating, failing, creating. Finally, she was able to create a somewhat wearable sleeve. She held it in her hand and smiled.

"I did it." She stared at the single sleeve for a moment. "...I can't wear this."

She opened her storage ring and took out a set of black and white clothing, putting it on. Alice put on her mask and threw on her hood. 'Perfect.' She walked downstairs to the inn's lobby and went outside. While walking, she noticed many people began to settled down compared to her arrival.

Some people were seen openly beating there slaves.

"Serves you right, you bitch!" A man punched a woman in her stomach, causing her to fall over and spit up blood.

Alice casually walked by them as she heard the man's fist repeatedly hitting her. 'Wait until the wedding, Alice.'

———

A man and nine others sat at a translucent table and watched as Alice walked through the streets. "What do you think, Two?"

A feminine being with a mask that had the Roman numerals for two covering it's face shook it's head.

"I do not think we should tell Warden of her yet." Two looked to someone with a mask that had the Roman numeral for nine on it's mask. "What do you think, Nine?"

Nine sat quietly as it seemed to observe the table. "We should not be leaving Fetoria's universe in the hands of someone with such conflict inside of themselves. Ten?"

Ten sat quietly. "..." After signing he stood up. "The ten of us must continuously monitor her if she is to be the Sword for Warden's purpose."

The nine others in masks all nodded collectively before disappearing. Ten stared at the table. 'This is a former human?'
