Chapter Thirty-One: Are you an Angel?

Alice stared at her reflection in awe. She slowly moved her right hand, and the reflection followed.

"Woah."

The guardian spoke. "Would you like me to list off the changes of what I presume to be an evolution?"

Alice nodded, shocked that the reflection followed her movements.

"You have grown two inches, ascending to five feet, nine inches tall. Your chest and other measurements have remained the same. Your hair has grown down to your knees and has changed to being mostly white, with pink scattered throughout it. Your eyes now give off a golden glow, and your hair radiates a bit of light."

"The biggest change, however, would be your wings. They seem to have shedded all the burning feathers, replacing them with crisp golden feathers, which burn with the same light as the flames, and the symbol on your arm has moved to the center of you back and stopped burning."

Alice looked at the ring on her finger. "What does this mean?"

"I believe it's time you take the Promised Land to Heaven, Light-bringer."

———

An Angel stood before a statue of an Arch Angel holding a large black longsword.

The Angel had hair that seemed to be made of gold, and wings of white with some golden feathers.

He tried his hardest to gain control of the sword, but to no avail.

Another Angel of his same stature walked in. His bald head reflected the light seeping into the building. "Arch Angel Gabriel." The Angel spoke. His wings were great and even had some black feathers.

"What is it, Matthew? Is Micheal screwing up the mortal world so much that we must go down there?"

Matthew rubbed the back of his head. "Well, no. Actually, it's his daughter this time around."

Gabriel turned to him. "You mean the Fallen One?"

Matthew nodded. "I never thought what happened would happen. It seems it may have been a mistake sending her to the mortal world."

Gabriel looked at Matthew's deep red irides(plural for iris), and sighed. "Matthew, you have had the shortest time in the Court of Generals, so I'll pardon you this one for not taking proper care over the mortal world."

He walked passed Matthew, who turned to follow him. They walked outside as Gabriel spoke.

"What has happened that is so-" Gabriel looked up at the sky. "...there's a giant crack in the universe."

Matthew nodded. "It's had many repercussions on the mortal world, but not many here."

"That's because there's hardly anyone left here." Gabriel retorted.

Matthew looked at Gabriel for a moment before continuing. "Hyrdos has awoken, and many others are about to follow. Micheal and Moloch, along with the rest of the order, have established a nation to-I assume-one day raid Heaven. Alice Night, who is a Calamity, has suddenly grown to be as powerful as she is now. I believe she will be the calm before the storm."

Gabriel nodded. "If the calm is a powerful Fallen Angel we threw into the mortal world, as well as sealing her father away for thousands of years, then yes, the 'calm.'"

"Well, Matthew, call all the Generals back to the altar. We need to hold a meeting immediately."

———

Alice put on a black shirt, followed by her white tailcoat. She had to make new pants, which fit her much better, and she even spent time to create a ring that masks the glow she gives off.

"I guess its time to return to the world." Alice also noticed her eyes seemed a bit sharper and mature. 'This is not the appearance I designed all those years ago.'

"Light-bringer, would you like to take the ruins and army with you?"

Alice looked at the ring which she put on a necklace which also had a white cross on it. "Sure, but how do I do it?"

"It really is elementary, Light-bringer. All you have to do is grab that white ring over there and think about everything going into it. I would recommend waiting until we're out though. Don't want to be stuck in nothingness forever."

Alice saw the ring the guardian spoke of and grabbed it before releasing her wings and flying towards the entrance of the ruins. She flew out of the giant doors and towards the spot where the pit would open.

As she approached, a smaller hole than the pit opened, allowing Alice passage to the world. Once the hole closed up, Alice landed in a forest instead of the barren plains.

"Oh, right. You'll go to a random location once you leave." The guardian spoke. "That's my bad."

Alice sighed before thinking about the ruins of the Promised Land appearing in the ring, and it did. Every soldier, building and piece of knowledge appeared in the ring.

She nodded and began to walk away when she suddenly heard a child's voice. "Miss, are you an Angel?"

Alice turned to stare at a poor looking child and back at her wings. "I guess I still count as an Angel."

The girl grabbed Alice's hand and began to tug at her. "Can you come help my village?"

Alice stared at the heil and felt a new feeling build up inside of her. She picked the girl up. "Which way is your village?"

The girl pointed towards the west and Alice immediately flew in that direction. She saw a burning village and many injured people surrounded by a group of Crusaders.

The crusaders watched as the village burned and laughed. What seemed like the leader turned towards the village chief and removed his helmet.

"Still don't want to join the Theocracy, heathen?"

The chief stood up and held the stump his right arm was reduced to. "Not if men like you are going to oversee us."

The crusader lifted his short sword and shook his head. "Wrong answer."

As the blade was about to hit the man, the crusader suddenly found himself slashing against the blade of a rapier. As he looked at the wielder, he quickly stumbled backwards and fell to the ground dropping his short sword.

The other crusaders around him did the same, before they all scrambled to kneel.

"I-I had no idea an Angel was here. Please, lady, tell us why you have come. Do you bring a message?"

Alice looked at her rapier blade and noticed a small crack appeared in the blade. 'This'll be troublesome.' Turning to the crusader, Alice spoke with a commanding tone. "I've been asleep for ten years. Tell me at once what has happened in the time I have been gone, or I will take you to Hell myself."

The crusader nodded quickly. "The Fallen Angel Alice Night completely disappeared from the world and the order established a nation under the one true God. They've slowly annexed the continent and have greatly shifted the political situation, as well as enslaved anyone who isn't human."

"Anyone?" Alice asked. "Would that includes Queen Maria?"

The crusader looked up at Alice before he was forced to look down by an unknown force.

The guardian thought as he forced the man's head down. 'That's right, bow, you fool.'

"Anyone ma'am. Although royalty and rulers have it easier. They just become commoners."

Alice shook her head as she picked up the soldiers short sword. "You call that easier? It sounds like this Theocracy isn't fair when it comes to these things."

"Life isn't fair, lady."

Alice inspected the blade. "Yes, I guess your right." 'Kill All, no rename it.'

[Renaming Skill: Kill All...]

[Skill Renamed: Extermination]

'Extermination.' The crusaders slowly felt their chests tighten up before they began to fall to the ground in pain. It carried on for several minutes before they were all lifeless corpses on the ground.

Alice put the short sword next to the crusader and spoke to the villagers. "You are saved. I'd recommend taking your people somewhere else. First, let me see your wounded."

After a few hours, the sun rose and Alice finished healing all the villagers. She didn't reattach any limbs, but performed enough miracles to make the villagers believe she was a god of some sort.

Alice flew away from the village and focused on finding someone that can show her to Heaven's Gate.
