Prologue 1: The Pit

Far in the cascading sands of Plethoras, deep in the Barren Steppes, there exists a pit. No one knows who, or what, made the pit, if it was always there since before the dawn of time, or if it was even created to begin with. Some say Plethoras was once a bountiful forest, teeming with life and nature of every kind until a man came to kill its source and dig the hole to the Hels for his own goals. Some say it was the gods' cruel trick to test the world as a whole. Some say it was simply always there. Few speak of it now, as there are few left who still know of it, though its existence always seemed synonymous with the lands of Adthera.

Spiraling down the cylindrical wall of the pit is a path; a road leading down to an unproved, unpromised, unseen bottom. Only two things are truly known about the pit: the fact that it seems to stretch down into infinity, into the abyss itself—into the Hels, and what comes out. Sometimes, throughout the ages, hordes of demons, devils, undead, and monstrosities of all likeness crawl, walk, climb, and fly out to terrorize and end the entirety of life itself. Thankfully they've yet to succeed, despite coming close a few times. And though they haven't been seen, long enough for most to forget, they have not slept, stopped, or ever planned to. One day, they will return, and when they do, the whole world will have Hel to pay.
