hatchling

on a bone filled dune in the middle of nowhere a egg shudders. its surface rippeling as its resident tries to escape the shell confining it. when finally two sets of small 3 to 4 inch long claws slice through the hard exterior of its prison. the new hatchling peaks out at a strangly familiar mountain range. feeling like going in that direction he starts wondering towards it with a feeling of excitement. each of his steps and swings of his tail swirling the surrounding sand. when he gets within a few hundred feet of the mountain he hears gun fire and clanking coming from the settlement built into the mountain. then the the sound of a man burning to death and lots of gun fire.
