4 Chapter 4

They got report that Lucy Alexander was out of danger, and needs few days to rest from the trauma. At that time, they we're scanning the letter. Luis and his team where present, as Sarah used the computer.  She suddenly found it difficult to operate the computer.

      "What's wrong Sarah? " Luis asked.

     "I think someone is hacking into our system. ". All the computers at the department  went blank for a while, and reboot by it's self. They saw Elliott's face on the screen.

"Hi everyone, I hope you all must be very busy. "He laughed menacingly.

  "I got something to show you detective Luis, while you we're asleep, I took some pictures of you and your mum. "He laughed again, the picture displayed on the screen. Luis got extremely infuriated. "You see, you'd have been died hours ago, if I wanted you to.", He laughed again. His face disappereded, and the computer stated functioning. Everyone was amused of his dexterity.

"Sarah, track that call! ". He ordered harshly.

"We've lost connection Luis, it's not possible "

"Then do something about it fast! " He scolded.

"Luis; come with me" General Huskey said, as he went to his office. Luis followed. He closed the door behind him as they got to the office. He was requested to sit down.

"I know this killer had humilated you, in fact, the entire police council. But, you can never catch a professional killer like Elliott in anger. We have to use our brains, he's   proving the he is smarter than us, we have to stop him, before he brings our name to jeopardy."

"If I lay my hands on that rascal, he'd wish he wasn't born! "

"Here, have a glass of this. It'd make you feel better " He gave him a glass of hot gin, made of lemon, and lime juice.  He gluped the entire content in a swallow, kept his face like he took something sour. "Now Luis, what's our next move? "

"We have-" John opened the door.

"Sorry to interrupt General, I've gotten report from the hospital that Lucy is eligible to be discharged. She is on her way here" John said.

"Good, get me informed when she arrives. "

"Yes general! " He saluted, and left.

"So, you were saying? " He turned back at Luis.

"Firstly, we're going to the seaport to find out about that ship, and who wrote that letter. It's  confirmed It isn't Elliott's lettering. We'd find out what was inside ship 2257 on the 2nd of march, 1995, who is in charge of the ship. Who'd pay five hundred million dollars, to get the ship unrestrianed.  Then visit Stanford orphanage Mexico, to get informations about Elliott's childhood days. Ask Lucy couple of questions, she must know something. "

"Good, you guys carry on, leave Lucy for me to handle. "

"okay, thanks a lot general "

Everyone at the department were busy with one thing or the other, Lucy arrived not quite long, and was taken to the General.

She a young pretty girl, with blonde long hair. She was welcomed by the general.

"What's you name? " He asked, despite knowing her name.

"Lucy Alexander "

"How old are you? "

"18"

"Does your father had any enemys? ", She didn't give a quick response, seems she was remembering something.

"I think so"

"Who? "

"Don't know for sure, but I hear him sometimes shouting and aguing with someone over the phone "

"For how long have you witnessed this? "

"Since the death of my mother, three years ago. "

"How did she die? "

"As my father... She was shot". The General looked into her eyes, as she tried to hold her tears. She is indeed a brave girl, she needs justice for her parents death, and counting on the FBI to bring the killers into custody.

"Sir, do you think Elliott killed my mother too? I overheard my father talking to someone on the phone. It was a night after my mom's death. I didn't hear much of  what he was saying, but he was in tears. I've never seen him cry before, even when my mother died. He sounded weak and guilty. I think someone was blackmailing him. When I came to ask him what's bothering him,  he cut the call and cooked up a story. I didn't fall for it, I knew something was wrong. ", This time, tears rolled down her eyes.

"So, you father knew the killer? "

"I guess so, maybe that's why he didn't make a police complaint for murder. "

General Huskey got up, he went to agent walker, whom was few steps away from Lucy.

"Finding Mr Alexander's phone would lend us to the killer. "

"No need General, our phones were seized when we got kidnapped." Lucy stood up. He placed his hands on her shoulders

"We would bring Elliott, and the person who killed your mother behind bars. That I promise you! "

"Thank you general ", She dried her face with her left palm.

"Meanwhile, we've to ensure your safety, till we this is all over. "

"She can stay with me. "Sarah smiled.

"No, she will need protection from a professional. She'd stay with detective Luis for now, we'd assign police agents to watch over you, so you don't have reason to worry. "

"Thanks for your help general. " She left with Sarah.

"Put detective Luis through! " He ordered.

"Hello general ". Luis answered over the phone.

" found anything? "

"No general, how about Lucy.? "

"It's clear Elliott killed Mr Alexander, but we don't know why. She said her mother was killed the same way too, and her father knew something about her death . "

"Mr Alexander killed his wife? "

"No, the person that sent that contract must be the killer. "

"Don't worry sir, I'd find out about that contract. "

"I trust you son. Do your best. ".

"Why did he call? " Scullard asked.

"He thinks Lucy's mother was killed by the person that sent that contract.

They went into the port, they saw different ships, with different numbers. They saw ship 2256, but ship 2257 was missing. They taught it went offshore, they decided to ask the caption of ship 2256.

"Hey!, DCI, detective Luis" He shows his identity card. "This is the CEO, sergeant Scullard, and my apprentice . we are here to ask a couple of questions"

"I know you guys, I know what you are here for. Sorry, I can't help you".  The captain walked into the ship. Luis yanked him roughly towards the wall, and pointed a gun at his head.

"Tell us what we need to know, why isn't your ship, and others busy!?" He shouted.

"Okay, fine!  I'd tell you what you wanna know! " Luis released him, and put his pistol back. "You might wanna come inside, it's gonna take long. " The captain said, and they followed him into the ship's bar. He poured them beer, they siped as they discussed.

"My ship, ship 2254, and 2258, were ordered to stay ducked, after the death of our leader, custom Alexander. "

"And who gave this order? " Luis asked, and took a deep sip.

"The vice "

"What made him make such a big discission? " Scullard asked.

"A day after custom Alexander's death, ship 2257 sank into the Caribbean sea, south America. Ship 2257 was suspected for importing narcotic drugs, contra band goods, and illegal weapons and machinery into the country. Mr Alexander ransacked the ship, in other to clear his doubt three years ago. It was confirmed. Two days later after custom Alexander found out about this, his wife died. We where shocked, as well as confused when he said he had dropped  the  case of those drugs and contra band goods. According to him, he said there was statistically no strong  evidence of drug trafficking. "

"So, General Huskey was right. The killer of Mrs Alexander is the one that wrote that contract. ", Luis said to Scullard.

"Yes, and the killer is also a drug trafficker. " Scullard added.

"If the killer of Mrs Alexander was a drug trafficker, then why did Elliott kill Mr Alexander?" John asked.

" It's possible Elliott is working for this drug dealer, their crime relates;" The captain said. "Think about it, they wanted to wipe out his entire family to keep their secret. "

"You are right, Elliott is a hired  hitman to clear every obstacle hindering their operation. " Luis nodded

"Thanks to the vice, he doesn't want this matter to die like that, he has taken it as his responsibility to get to the root of this matter, and uphold justice. And if he does, there'd be problem for I, and the other captains of two ships. "

"Why? " Scullard asked confused.

"Because we'd be charged for drug trafficking, and contra band goods, and apparently be killed. "

"Why? "Scullard asked again, more confused.

"Cause these four ships are in charge of importation of hospital equipments, and drugs. We were noticing unknown substances, hidden admits the drugs, till ship 2257 was bought.

"By whom? "Luis asked.

"I don't know, it was never reviled "

"How long now? " John asked.

"Three years"

"I see, so this all happened within the period of Mrs Alexander's death. "Luis said with his hands folded, and john writing the captain's statement.

"Yes, I suppose. "

"So who is the vice here? " John asked

"Mr Betsey Rivers. " 

"Betsey Rivers!? " Luis repeated  astonished, as they looked at each other. The captain noticed they were nervous.

"What's wrong, " He said.

"Mr Betsey Rivers is next on the death list! " Luis answered.

"What! They are after his life? " The captain asked bewildered.

"We must protect him at all cost, he's the only one that can give us more details about the drug dealers and ship 2257,that was sank. " Luis said as he got up. "Thanks captain for your cooperation, you've really helped us a lot " They exchanged hand sakes.

"Anytime detective, I just need justice "He smiled.  Luis adjusted his suit, and left the ship with his team.
