17 The First Target(2)

The Village of Sun is some kind of small and an old-fashioned town with a very busy place which full of people who came to play or enjoy for every competition. There are also the local people who opened their business here and that are what makes the town look very lively and lousy place. The atmosphere is very different from the city.

When Lexi walked behind Lans and every time Lexi passed by a food stall or restaurant, she have to closed her nose with her hand because she didn't like the smell that come from that place.

Even though the street is big enough for a car to pass by, Lexi still consider is too narrow because of the crowded people. However, this situation is not enough to makes Lexi lost in the middle of the sea people.

Lexi looked at Lans who was walking ahead of her while holding a square shape of machine. From her perspective, this machine is some kind of tracking machine. 'Lans might be tracking down Orange right now. Better to just follow him without asking any question.'

After they walked through long, narrow and crowded streets, at last they arrived in front a shabby and quaint building.

'Why do I suddenly feel like I'm in a thriller movie right now? Why does this building look like a haunted house? Are we going to enter this haunted-like building?'

Lexi gave a quick sidelong to the signboard of the building. The name of 'The Ugly Duckling' which was written in linked writing font was imprint on the signboard.

Lexi's eyebrows furrowed in confusion 'The Ugly Duckling? What does that mean? Is it mean that people inside are... Ugly?'

"She's inside... From now on, it's depending on you on how to be her partner. Like I said before, she is quiet... But also smart. She can see through your tricks even if your acting is good, so pay attention to your actions," Lans said while he turned around to look at Lexi.

"Okay, I got this... Don't worry, Lans. I know what to do. Isn't this my job as a Captain?" said Lexi nonchalantly but confidently.

Lans nodded after he saw the confident look from Lexi. "I'll be waiting at the nearest shop. I confident in you so I don't think I will help you with this thing. Good luck with the task."

After patting Lexi's shoulder and give a smile to courageous her, Lans walked away without looking back at Lexi.

Lexi pursed her lips as she watched Lans's departing figure. Although she know that this is her job as a Captain but she can't help but feel irritated that Lans leave her alone like this when it was supposed to be their jobs to find the recruit members together.

'Fine, let's get this over with.'

With a deep breathe, Lexi pushed the shabby door and walked inside. Unlike what she just imagines a while ago, this place is filled with a normal people. (Normal mean excluding how they look and what types of they skin colour). The building that she went into was actually a small bar, far from Lexi's expectation.

All the people inside the shop shifted their glance over Lexi before they continue with their own business. Lexi didn't care about them though as she only want do find Orange.

Lexi's eyes wondered all around the corner to look for the first target. Finally, she found her at the bar counter while having a drink with only herself. There is no one around her as if she was an invisible person in this shop. From her back, Lexi could tell that she was lonely and sad.

Lexi smiled with a small smug as she walk over toward Orange. She took the seat right next to Orange and she order some drink from the bartender.

Orange turned her head to Lexi when she realised someone taking a seat beside her. Only for a moment before she turn her head to the front again, totally ignore the fact that someone sat next to her.

Lexi glanced over to her. She saw realised how quiet and uncaring she is toward the situation around her. She didn't want to talk to anyone nor did she want anyone to talk to her. It was like, 'You can talk to me but I will just stay silent and listening here'.

'Darn it... She is really quiet, way too quiet for me to start a conversation. What should I do first? Talk to her like I'm her old friend or should I talk to her like a person meet with a new person? Gosh, why am I suddenly felt doubtful to myself? Where did my self-confidence went to?'

Even after the bartender already put her drink in front of Lexi, Lexi still has no idea on how should she start the conversation between them.

'Screw it... If she thinks that I'm a weird person, I have to make her join my team first.'

Lexi coughed for a several times and that act successfully gained the attention of Orange. The orange-liked girl shifted her head toward Lexi and look at her with her broad expressionless face.

"You look so lonely. Mind if I talk to you? I didn't have anyone to talk with too. My friend left me alone here so I don't have anyone." Lexi give her a small and sincere smile. She hopes that this conversation was a successful one because it would be a headache to her later if this conversation fail.

Orange looked at the black-masked girl who sat next to her. She blinks her eyes several times before she formed a small but cute smile toward Lexi. "Sure."

Lexi was a bit shocked. 'I thought that talking with her hard. I even taking my time to thinking what topic should I talk to her? It turns out that she was an easy-going person. *cough* what a waste of time.'

"I heard that there was a competition later on. I was new here so I was wondering how the competition here worked out. I think you are a regular player who come here, right?"

Orange only gave her a sidelong glance. "How did you know that I was a regular here?"

Lexi responded with a shrugged. "You don't look like one. Basically, someone who was new here was trying to talk to everyone and make connection for their benefits... But you just sit here like an old boss who owns this place. Isn't that obvious already?"

Orange narrowed her eyes before she let out small chuckles. "You pointed out a good answers but that's not enough to convince me. Why would you talk to me? Out of all people in this place, why would you only talk to me who was sitting alone here?"

'Ouch... Girl, you really pinned me down this time. Can you just be a normal person already? I just want to be your friends... I mean, can you be my first team members?'

Lexi tried hard not make an awkward smile. "You looked like you are a nice and easy person to talk with. I've heard a rumour about this place that you can mess up with someone you don't know. If not, there would be no chance for me to come again. I don't want to be thrown out from this place."

"So, you think you wouldn't mess up with me if you come talking to me?"

'Okay, smart girl... Those mouths of yours are starting to give me a pain in the ass. You want to talking smart to me? Alright, then... Let see who still can talk in the end!'

Lexi put down her smug smile and change it into a clearly sardonic expression. "You are a pretty smart person by using your mouth to talk to people, don't you...? Orianda Rexyelline Anston Nayga Genberi Edstar or the short one is—Orange? Am I right?"

Hearing the person next to her used her real name, Orange couldn't help but feel quite stunning. She didn't expect Lexi to know her real name.
