32 Where Am I?

I felt a light-headedness in my head as I slowly regained my consciousness. The grogginess weighed over me like a heavy load being dumped atop of my body. It took everything within me to open my eyes and as soon as I did, a slight soreness invaded my limbs.

Despite that, I forced myself up whilst trying to lighten the dizziness by massaging my forehead. It was due to this movement that beckoned an acute pain to directly stung my right hand. My body jolted slightly at the sudden pain.

Immediately, I turned my head to check on my hand and found a medical hose was connected to it. I knitted my eyebrows as I glanced up at the bag filled with transparent liquid.

'IV drip?' I thought.

This procedure looked similar to what they did to me back at the hospital and I couldn't find anything wrong with my body, except the overwhelming exhaustion. However, my vigilance still did not lower down, thus, I carefully removed the needle out of my skin.

Afterwards, I began to scour the room I had currently occupied. Although the room was dimly lit, I could still make out the size of the place. It was definitely larger than mine. Three times wider in fact.

The bedroom was minimally decorated with only a bed which was oddly larger than necessary, two nightstands, a velvet rug, two couches, and a big bookcase embedded into the wall.

Overall, due to the size of the room, it appeared rather empty and plain. Though it might be so, it didn't set off a gloomy atmosphere, but rather a relaxing vibe.

Perhaps it was the result of the owner's color preference which seemed to lean more towards the neutral ones. Hence, the paleness of the room that beget a pristine sight.

I blinked my eyes a couple of time as I tried to recall what had happened to me that landed myself here. But all I could remember was being out of breath before everything turned dark. A frown appeared on my forehead.

I sighed. 'I guess for now I only need to find out where I am and possibly get out from here.'

Thus, I tossed the duvet aside and made my way towards the door. It was quite chilling walking barefooted in this season but nonetheless, I braced through it and got out from the bedroom.

As soon as I stepped into the hallway, I was shrouded in a complete darkness. Apparently, it was night time from the look of it and the residence seemed to not bother themselves with the lights, or another possibility, nobody was actually in the house.

My body relaxed a little bit at the last thought. If that was the case, then this would be an easy escape. But first, I needed my car key.

With that, my first guess was the living room. While holding on to the railings, I traced my surroundings and realized that I was actually on the second floor which seemed to only consist of rooms. Hence, I made my way to the stairs and carefully descended towards the first floor.

It was at this moment when I heard a car approaching from outside. Its headlights soon pierced through the darkness and lit up the room for a short seconds before it went away. But with that, I heard the car pulled over right in front of the house.

I stood rooted to the ground, not knowing what to do at this moment. I felt like I needed to hide. But then again, where in the world should I hide in this massive house? Well, wherever it was, the owner would surely find out soon. This was their territory after all.

So, what other option I had? Ran back to the bedroom and pretended to sleep?

I wasn't sure if I could manage to hold on for long. Thus, I stood frozen by the stairs while my eyes were fixed on the front door. In the end, I decided to just meet the owner head on. He or she couldn't be that bad right?

After all, the bedroom was not locked and that was enough proof to me that the owner didn't intend to imprison me or anything which also mean that he or she wouldn't have any intention to harm me.

Which criminals in the world would grant their victim the freedom to move anyway?

Therefore, I was certain that whoever the owner was, he or she didn't wish to inflict harm upon me. With this analysis, my mind managed to calm down as I continued to descend towards the first floor.

The amusing thing was at that moment, what didn't register to my little head was how the owner had taken care of me by letting me rest inside a neat and tidied room which could possibly be the owner's room as well.

I didn't count on that one major deed that would easily end all of the negative thoughts I had.

By the time I stepped onto the first floor, the front door had clicked opened and a tall figure entered the house with two paper bags in their hands.
