112 The Man's Other Side

Xiao Fei.

Little Fei.

I never knew how much I missed hearing those two characters sliding off someone's lips, amidst the October cold wind as they breathed down gently into my ears. It was the slow whisper that called neither the past Li Fei nor the present Airi, stuck between two souls.

It was the whisper of someone's love. A call of one particular person's dream.

"Jin..." My voice was a hint of mumbling, dripped in a pool of doubt as I gazed up into his gleaming eyes.

That was when I saw the dark lines under his eyes, the exhaustion that wore down his shoulders, and the thin stubble that had grown thicker since the last time I had seen him.

"Xiao Fei..." His tender whisper sounded again and a smile seemed to have grown fond of his lips.

"What are you doing here?" He asked. Then, he brushed his fingers through my hair. "And your hair?"

"I-I cut it." My lips couldn't help but curled upwards on its own. "I cut my hair."
