148 The Familiar Stranger in The Cafe

There was something about the rain, the gloomy sky, and the splash of rain-boots on the wet ground that seemed so enthralling it brought melancholic laughter into our lips. An overdue conversation over beers and boiling hot pot that felt like it should've happened a long time ago, but it didn't, not until we were stuck with the rain.

Yet, for some, sometimes the damp air felt like romance instead and the rhythmic drizzle was the melody that sang love. But sometimes, the darkening sky could feel like a painful past and the rain brought back the tears with an extra heartbreak.

I lifted my hand to feel my chest, a wall of flesh that sheltered my currently pounding heart. It screamed erratically alongside the nagging feeling that couldn't seem to go away. My mind was still in a mess. I wasn't sure what to make of the event that had happened just now. Charlotte's tear-stricken face was etched vividly in my head.
