41 The Breakfast

I snapped open my eyes in surprise after I saw the foreign ceiling and the overly wide bed I was currently lying on.

I immediately hauled myself up into a sitting position and scanned around the room in confusion. Afterwards, I held onto my head while I sank into my thoughts.

'What happened? Did I accidentally fall asleep last night?' I thought to myself.

I tried to recall the events from the previous night and the last thing I remembered was hiding under the cover trying to trick Jin Longwen. After that, it was a blank.

The answer was clear from there. I had truly fallen asleep. I groaned inwardly.

How could I fall asleep just like that at the presence of a man? I really needed to knock some sense into my head. Letting myself appeared defenseless against a man in his own territory.

I looked down at my clothes at the next moment. I checked everything and fortunately they were all in place. I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Awake already?" A crystal clear voice was heard suddenly.

I lifted my head and looked towards the door. The man had already dressed up nicely in his beige sweater and white pants. When he came closer, I could smell the scent of soap coming from him. I knew by then, he had just taken a shower not too long ago.

'Hmm...he woke up quite early,' I thought to myself.

Meanwhile, in respond to his question, I only nodded absentmindedly while I rubbed my eyes at the same time.

He then sat down right across me and set down the silver tray in his hand.

"Come. Let's eat!" He said.

I stopped rubbing my eyes and blinked at the emergence of food in front of me. There were toasted breads, a jar of blueberry jam, butter, one glass of milk, a cup of black coffee, and a plate of fresh fruits. However, what surprised me the most was how he had decorated the set of breakfast beautifully on the tray.

White petals of roses were scattered across the tray along with a stalk of baby's-breath lying at the corner.

I took one petal into my hand and immediately realized it was real roses. I raised my head and laid my eyes upon him.

"Should I applaud you for your impeccable service?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

On the other hand, the man had only smiled warmly at me.

"Just a little something for my first guest," he replied.

"Nobody ever come here before?"

He shook his head. "No, this is my private space."

My lips twitched at the revelation. I averted my gaze from him and proceeded to pick up the bread and the small knife used to spread the chocolate jam on my bread.

I casually took a bite and enjoyed the sweetness melting in my mouth. But it wasn't long before I stopped munching on the food. My movement was halted altogether at the sight of his light grey eyes watching me eat.

I swallowed the bread that was still in my mouth before finally speaking to him, "Are you not eating?"

He only smiled then and picked up the black coffee. He sipped it in an elegant manner like a noble in the olden days enjoying their tea time.

After lightly sipping his coffee, it was his turn asking me the question, "Well, aren't you eating?"

I knitted my eyebrows before I continued to munch on the bread. All the while, I had my gaze down at the silver tray. I wasn't exactly looking at the row of foods on it. In fact, my mind had been focusing on his gaze. I could feel his eyes on me even if I didn't look up.

I was now trying to figure out what was it that he was looking at? Was it my hair?

Well, it was rather messy in the morning. It would look funny. So, it was a possible option.

Or was there something on my face?

But then again, I didn't recall any habit of drooling for the past sixteen years I had lived as Airi.

Perhaps my outfit?

I had checked it though, I was still decently dressed despite not having a shower yet.

My mind was on a roller coaster during the whole breakfast time. It made everything I ate tasteless and they were just something that passed into my stomach. All the while, I had also hoped that he would stop staring at me.

When I had finally finished eating two breads, I reached out for the milk. It was then, his hand had suddenly approached my face and rubbed the leftover crumbs off my lips.

My body froze immediately. I looked up at him and saw the man was licking the crumbs that was on his fingers.

Something about this scene made my breath hitched and I couldn't take my eyes off him.

Jin Longwen smiled as he returned my gaze. "Don't know you're such a messy eater."

"...."

With that, he had took the word out of me and left me staring at him.
