24 City View Apartment

Located near the hubbub of the downtown area and twenty minutes away from the business district, City View Apartment fell on a class A property with mostly high income tenants and low vacancy rates.

The building itself was fairly new and had only twelve stories of apartment rooms with two stories for private penthouse, while the rest of the floor was reserved for the building facilities such as fitness center, indoor swimming pool, conference hall, and a whole floor of "Dear Anna" spa facility.

However, the most attractive offer for the tenants was the ten percent discount for dinner in the famous five stars rooftop restaurant, Skye Bridge, in City View Apartment. In addition, free access for the after 7pm lounge.

A lot of people mostly after this exclusive acces because not only the food in the restaurant was made by top chefs, but the late night lounge after Skye Bridge closed their restaurant was a big opportunity for networking.

New business deals and partnership between multinational cooperations usually occured in this late night lounge. Big household names and important figures often seen hanging out in Skye Bridge lounge.

It was the exclusivity and rare access of the lounge that made these widely known figures chose this place to connect. One couldn't hope to enter the place with only money. This was a matter of not only wealth, but power and status, as well as connection.

All these were the reason why after only a year of its existence, City View Apartment was in high demand. Not only for its prestige, but also the strategic location. Even Li Fei only got the apartment after throwing her husband's name.

"Miss?"

I heard the driver's voice in between my half-asleep state. Slowly, I straightened my back.

"Sorry to wake you up, but we've arrived," the cab driver kindly said.

"Yes, thank you."

"Make sure you have all your belongings before you get off, Miss."

At the driver's reminder, I glanced at the empty seats beside me. Once I had done checking, I paid the fee and got off from the cab.

I was immediately shocked at the tall and magnificent building in front of me. My face might not look like I was surprised but deep down, I was restless beyond words. One thing I had in mind, 'I think I may have come to the wrong place.'

But, surely I didn't because I had remembered it vaguely, Li Fei standing in front of this exact building. So, without further ado, I sauntered into the apartment building and was greeted right away at the lobby.

"Oh, welcome back, Ms. Huang!" The female receptionist greeted me with her professional smile.

I was a bit taken aback at the sudden greeting but nonetheless, I returned her greeting with a nod. I wondered how she could remember my name as a long time had passed since Li Fei visited this place.

Well, perhaps she didn't remember me at first, but my face gave it away. The face of the "crazy wife". Who didn't know?

After dealing with the receptionist, I frigidly walked towards the elevators while trying to recall where to go. While I was waiting for the elevator to arrive, a middle age man carrying a briefcase had just entered the building and he went directly for the elevators.

When I heard the 'ding' sound, I raised my face to see the elevator door opening up. We both went inside after the other party went out.

I walked to the corner of the elevator as soon as I entered. The middle age man stood by the button panel and put his thumb on the black screen. I watched as his fingerprint appeared line by line on the screen until finally it was completed and the fingerprint turned green. He then pressed the eleventh floor before he went back to his phone.

I blinked at his action. I stared at the row of numbers intently. A fleeting image flew across my mind.

I silently inched forward and put my thumb on the screen. The computer traced my fingerprint and when it turned green, my index finger went to the panel. I hovered between the number seven, eight, and nine. My eyebrows scrunched up.

While I was hesitating, I felt a gaze at me. I turned my head to find the man who was busying himself with his phone a while ago, was now staring at me with suspicion all over his face.

I swiftly turned my head back to the panel and decisively pressed the ninth floor. Only then the man retracted his attention.

I went back to the corner and a piece of memory came to me.

The day when Li Fei bought this apartment was that very same day when Lu Tianfeng returned with Hua Ling.

And that day was the only time she ever came to the apartment and didn't return for the whole night.
