9 Time Consuming

(D-rank dungeon)

Each and every step Katsuya took would echo through-out the cave.

He was now further than he had gone last time when he came with Genzo and Jill. There seemed to be no sign of monsters.

Katsuya knew that they had to be somewhere, he thought that maybe the monsters wondered deeper into the dungeon, that's why he hadn't come across any yet.

In the shadows, were four pairs of glowing red dots. He wondered what it was, knowing it was not normal cave lights.

As he looked closer, he realized that they were not lights. Instead, they were eyes, belonging to four small furry white creatures with long ears.

Creatures that went by the names of "Killer Rabbits"

Katsuya quickly took steps back as he pulled out his knife.

"Rabbits?"

He was somewhat scared of the small creatures, but couldn't quite point out why. One of them began hopping towards him.

"Not today!"

Katsuya effortlessly swung his leg against the creature's face, knocking it down. He calmly walked over to it and kneeled down, stabbing the knife into its neck.

[Leveled up]

As he Katsuya Yanked it back out, he felt as if he had gotten a power boost. It wasn't a dramatic change, but he did feel somewhat stronger.

Adrenaline began running through his veins.

"Alright, let's do this."

He ran forward and stabbed the knife into the other creature's eye, then yanked it out as blood flew through the air.

[Exp up]

Katsuya turned around as he felt two pairs of teeth pinch into his leg.

(Katsuya: Hp: 22/26)

The other two creatures had bitten him. He Looked down at them as they still had their jaws locked onto his leg. He did feel some pain, but the bite mainly felt like getting a needle pricked into your skin at the doctors office.

Katsuya let out a sigh as he shook the creatures off. Immediately, he stabbed the knife into one of their necks then pulled it back out.

[Exp up]

He couldn't shake the feeling that he was a bully, beating up helpless kids.

Katsuya put his knife back in his pocket as he approached the last rabbit.

He reached his hand out to grab it, but was bitten. He quickly pulled his hand back as blood dripped from the side of it.

"Ow, that kinda hurt. Well, time for your punishment."

He tightly grabbed the creature's ears and held it up into the air as it screeched. Katsuya slowly lifted his other hand then slapped across its face.

Slap!

"That was for biting me."

He then brought his hand back and slapped it across the face once more.

Slap!

[Exp up]

"And that was because you're an evil monster."

He let go of it's ears, letting it fall to the ground.

Thump!

Katsuya was shocked as he realized the creature had died. He had only intended to slap it around a couple times then let it run off.

"Whoops, I think I overdid it."

He turned and started deeper into the cave. Katsuya began venturing further off.

--------------------------------

After walking for nearly 30 minutes, Katsya was bent over, holding himself up on his knees.

"I'm...pretty tired. I should rest my body here for awhile."

He had arrived at a giant area in the cave. There was a giant pool of gleaming and calming blue water that lit up the area around. There were rocks sticking out of the ground that were three times the size of him. Long blue stalagmites hung from the top of the cave.

He looked up and wished he could touch them, but knew he would have to be at least 80-feet tall in order to do so. Katsuya let out a sigh as he sat down against one of the rocks.

"I'll relax my body for about ten minutes, then I should be good to go."

He stared at the shining blue water. It was a type of water called

"Gleaming Water" which was only found in a dungeon. It was able to instantly and completely heal wounds and replenish health. However, it could not be contained as it would disappear after leaving the area where it was found.

"This is my first time seeing it. Now I know why people admire it."

He slowly closed his eyes right before falling asleep.

--------------------------------

(One hour later)

Katsuya slowly opened his eyes, staring at the shiny blue water.

He roughly shook his head and realized his mistake.

"I fell asleep?! Crap...I was only supposed to take a ten minute break."

Katsuya quickly stood up and patted the dirt off the back of his pants.

"I better keep going if I wanna clear this dunge-"

Thump!

Thump!

Thump!

He stopped from finishing his sentence as he heard what sounded like giant footsteps. Katsuya peeked his head out from behind the rock.

Up ahead was a 7-foot tall creature that walked on two legs. It's skin was rough and had little spikes all over. It walked with a hunched posture and glowing white eyes.

It was a monster called a "Rock Spirit"

Most of these types of monster were at least A-rank and above, but this one was a weaker type, a newly woke spirit.

Katsuya took a deep breath, and let it out as the creature turned its back to him and sat down.

He thought about the situation and what he should do.

"Judging by its looks, it's probably strong. Maybe, I can land a surprise attack on it and deal some major damage. It's health shows that I can handle it with a hard effort."

Katsuya was confident in his ability to fight because of how he felt that he was getting stronger, but in reality there was a 50% chance he would lose against the creature.

(Rock Spirit: Hp:78)

Katsuya gripped his knife and sprinted, top speed towards the creature.

He took one great big leap and climbed up the spirits back.

The spirit looked up as Katsuya shoved the tip of the blade into its eye.

(Rock Spirit: 26/78)

He firmly yanked it out as he jumped off of the creature while it quickly stood up. It had its hands covering its face, as it seemed to be in pain.

"Now's my chance to land another strike." Katsuya thought to himself.

He dashed forwards and swung his blade but….. the creature suddenly swung its hardened fist and stuck him in the chest.

(Katsuya: Hp:19/26)

Katsuya felt the air leave his body as he slid across the rock hard floor, landing on his back. He quickly rolled over and pushed himself off the floor as he gasped for air.

"This thing really has a powerful punch. I have to be cautious."

It was true that the spirit had a strong attack, but to Katsuya's surprise,it didn't really drop his health much. He came to realize that he could take a couple of hits without being knocked unconscious.

Katsuya caught his breath and grabbed his knife off of the floor as he stood up.

He ran forwards and stabbed the knife's blade against the creature's knee.

There was no reaction as its skin was too hard for the knife to penetrate

(Rock Spirit: Hp: 18/78)

The creature slammed its fist against Katsuya as he raised his arms to guard. He felt a heavy thump as he felt his legs slide back a great distance.

(Katsuya: Hp: 16/26)

The attack had barely damaged him at all. Katsuya's confidence In his fighting ability rose as adrenaline rushed through-out his body.

The creature threw its fist forward as Katsuya jumped to the side.

He quickly rushed forward and slid through the spirits legs, stabbing the blade against them.

(Rock Spirit: Hp: 10/78)

"Just a little more."

The creature turned around as its arm moved through the air. Katsuya was nowhere to be seen. The spirit was clearly surprised as to where he had gone.

A voice called from directly behind.

"I'm right here."

During the time the creature was turning around, Katsuya had slid through its legs once more, ending up behind him.

He quickly swung his blade against the creature's stomach. A spark was created by the silver blade and the spirit's hardened skin.

(Rock Spirit: Hp: 2/78)

Katsuya let out a yell of adrenaline as he swung one great hard slash at its chest. His blade snapped in two as silence filled the air.

The creature's body began crumbling up into little rock, creating dust as it hit the floor.

[Exp Up]

Katsuya kneeled down in exhaustion as he breathed heavily.

"I'm getting pretty good at this. I think I've reached my limit for today, time to head home."

A bright golden light shined from behind a rock. Katsuya turned but could not see what it was due to the giant rock blocking his view. He stood up tiredly and walked over, putting his hand against the rock as he peeked behind.

Sitting there, was a chest with a golden light shining from the cracks. It was a called a "Loot Chest"

They were found in dungeons containing items and weapons. The quality depended on the color of the light that shone.

Gold = Normal Quality

Green = Good Quality

Blue = Epic Quality

Purple= Legendary Quality

Katsuya Walked over and kneeled down as he placed his hands on both sides of the chest.

"This is a loot chest, huh?"

He slowly opened it as the light faded away. Once fully open, Katsuya wa sno able to see what was inside.

There was a black bladed dagger next to a pile of yellow coins.

He looked closer ashis eyes widened in amazement.

Those were not just yellow coins, they were golden coins.

"Woah...These must be valuable. I can earn good money by selling these."

He questioned if the money he could get from selling them would be enough to pay for his mother and sisters medical bill. Once he paid it, it wouldn't be the end of his troubles as he would have to pay the same amount every month.

He grabbed the coins and began counting them, one by one. After careful examination, he concluded that there were 11 coins in total.

Katsuya began shoving them in his pocket as they jingled around his pocket.

"Okay, now for the dagger." said Katsuya as he stated into the chest.

As he picked up the dagger, a transparent screen came into view.

(Weapon:

Atk:33

Durability: 23

5% Chance of stun)

"This...might actually be useful."

He shoved it into his other pocket as he turned around.

"Okay, time to leave."

After lots of walking, he had finally reached the exit of the cave and stepped out. Immediately, he noticed that darkness filled the area around and it was extremely cold out. He looked up at the dark sky and the shiny moon.

"It's night already? I guess dungeons are pretty time consuming."

He let out a sigh, his breath being visibly due to the cold air.

Katsuya began walking as he knew it was still a long way home.
