7 New Skill

It was now dark outside as Katsuya walked alongside Jill. There were gloomy alleyways everywhere and on the sidewalks were light poles.

Katsuya began to realize that he was running out of time to pay his mother and sisters medical bill. The more he thought, the more he felt useless.

Jill noticed that he was deep in thought, feeling stressed by something.

"What's wrong." she asked.

"It's nothing."

She assumed that it was something that he did not want to talk about so, instead of pressuring him to speak up, she shifted the topic.

"So, what are your hobbies?"

"Well, I like to work-out and read about adventurers like Jack and Jina."

Jack and Jina were Platinum-rank adventurers and were among the top ten strongest.

Jill found it hard to believe that Katsuya actually worked out, mainly because he seemed to have a rather slim body.

"Is that all you do?"

Katsuya thought about his life and realized that there wasn't much to it besides working-out, reading about adventurers and trying to pay for medical bills.

"Yeah, that's basically it."

He turned his head, and he noticed a large looking creature roaming the streets. His eyes widened and a sweat ran down his cheek. Jill noticed his expression and though it looked like he had seen a ghost.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

He quickly nodded then replied.

"Are you okay walking the rest of the way by yourself? I just remembered I had something really important to do."

"Yeah, I'll be alright."

"Okay, see you later."

He waved her goodbye and began jogging away.

"Whatever he has to do must be important. Guess I'll see him later." Jill thought to herself.

Five Minutes Later…. After trying to track down the creature that he had seen, Katsuya was about to give up.

He roughly shook his head as he began thinking to himself.

"If I just let that monster keep roaming around then there's a chance it could harm or kill someone. This might be my chance to stop someone from being hurt. I'll keep searching."

He began hearing a mysterious voice inside his head.

"Do you seek strength?"

Katsuya was confused by where the voice was coming from. He was hesitant to answer but still managed to let out a reply.

"....Yeah, I guess."

"Why do you seek strength? What do you wish to accomplish?"

Katsuya thought about everything that had happened because of monsters. His mother and sister were in a coma, his father died, and Genzo died, all because of monsters.

"I want to be able to stop people from being killed. I want to save lives…..and destroy every monster in my way."

"Will you accept me as your guid?" the voice asked.

With a confident look on his face, Katsuya replied.

"Yes."

[New skill learned: A.I]

The voice then made a request.

"Please give me a name."

Katsuya was still confused, but then realized, he had finally got an 'A.I'

The special skill that allows adventurers to be guided by a strange voice.

Otherwise known as a 'System'

Katsuya had a hard time deciding a name for the 'A.I'

After thinking up a list of names, he picked one out.

"I know. Your name will be Sora."

[Sora has added a quest: Defeat your opponent.

Prize: Level Capacity + 3]

Immediately Katsuya wondered what the quest meant as there was no opponent anywhere to be seen.

He let out a sigh and turned around.

A large shadow covered him. In front, was a creature that walked on all fours. Its eyes were all black and it's fur was dark red. It was monster called a 'Blood Seeker'

Even though the creature stood twice the size of Katsuya, it was no more than a baby.

The monster swung its paw and struck him.

The impact knocked Katsuya on his back. He slowly stood up as he tried to catch his breath. The monster's strike had knocked the air from him.

Thanks to the brown coat that he had gotten from Genzo, Katsuya was still conscious. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sharp hunting knife.

"Damn monster. I'll end you."

The creature let out a roar and began running towards him. As the monster swung it's paw, Katsuya quickly ducked and stabbed into the creature's skin.

He pulled the knife from the creature's skin then stabbed into its leg.

The creature suddenly rammed into Katsuya as he crossed his arms to guard his body. He was sent sliding across the floor. Even though he guarded and was wearing a special protective coat, he still took quite a lot of damage.

Katsuya began to try to stand up, posting up on one knee. He knew that odds stood against him losing, but he still wanted to try. The only was he would have a chance at victory was if he could get his knife out of the creature's leg. But he questioned if he would be able to do all that before his endurance fully lowered.

The creature began slowly walking towards Katsuya as he stayed in place. It seemed as if he had no intention to move. A shadow covered Katsuya as the creature lifted its arm.

The creature swung it downwards, but Katsuya quickly jumped to the side and yanked his dagger from its leg.

The creature fell on its side but was still alive, roaring in pain.

Katsuya shanked the knife into its chest then yanked it out. He Rapidly repeated this action a number of times until he ran out of breath.

His knife fell to the floor as he sat up against the creature's lifeless body. He heavily panted as sweat ran down his face.

"..I...did it. Maybe….I should head home."

He slowly stood up as he grabbed his knife off the floor, placing it back in his pocket. Katsuya walked until he disappeared into an alleyway's darkness.
