5 Welcome to Your New Life

"I refuse." I said in a dead tone before standing up so I can live this room.

"Is that so? If that's what you want then, I guess I have no choice but to fail yo-"

"Fine. Just so I can take the exam." I said before looking at this old woman with anger in my eyes. She smiled at me because of my answer.

"Great! I'm looking forward for your hard work." She said, mocking me. I looked at Coulyne and she looked happy about this. I was about to leave but that old woman again stopped me.

"Where are you going? Aren't you going to take the exam? My exam?" I looked at her with an irritated face. She laughed because of it.

"Whatever." I said before sitting again on the chair. She stood up on her chair to talk to her co-professors..

She lent me a test paper after she got back. I checked the questions and fortunately, I studied all the questions written in this paper.

But it will not cover the mishap that happened to me because I now belong to their club. Is there something worse that could happen to me today?

"Mr. Sarmiento, you're going to take the exam at the library, and to make sure that you won't do something inappropriate, Coulyne will come with you to serve as an observer while you're the exam." She explained that made me annoyed.

Man, seriously! This is the worst!

"Why does she even have to come with me? I can handle myself." I complained but she just shook her head. I really hate this old woman's guts!

"That is an order. You're not taking the exam unless Coulyne will come with you. But if you really don't want to, feel free to leav-"

"Fine!" I said irritatingly. I glanced at Coulyne, she looked excited and she's so happy about this. Well, I'm not.

I left the office with fire on my eyes. This is making me crazy! How can she do this to me?! She planned all of this! That old woman!

Well, she didn't say how long I need to stay on the club so I guess I'll just leave after I answered her exam.

The library is a litter far. I think it's a 5-minute walk from where we came from. That means I'll be with this girl a little longer.

I wish I could finish the exam faster so that she can get away from me. But if I did that, there is a chance my answers would be wrong. Ugh, this is frustrating.

"Hey, why were you late? Did something happen on your way? Did you save another woman from harassment?" She asked continuously. She doesn't seem to run out of energy. She's always talkative. This is also the reason why everyone likes her.

"I woke up late." I answered. She looks at me, smiling. I gave her a look of 'why are you smiling? Is there something funny about what I said' look.

"It's nothing. I just didn't imagine you being late. You know, because you're the No.1 student of this university.. It's hilarious. Maybe sometimes, you should act more like a normal human being." She said said while rubbing her chin like she's saying something smart.

It was her fault why I was late! Her identity shook my soul to the point that it left my body for a few seconds and when it came back, it was dead!

This is the first time I have interacted with someone and worse, it's the daughter of the university I'm studying to. Give me a break!

"You? Why were you late earlier?" I asked in a monotonous voice. She looked at me with confusion written in her eyes.

"Huh? How did you know I'm late?" She answered my question with another question. That means she really didn't notice me.

"I saw you when I got here at the university, in a hurry. I even heard what you were saying as you walked by. You just didn't see me." I explained to her. She didn't respond.

Finally, after minutes of walking, we reached the library. When we got inside, there aren't too many people inside.

I searched for an empty table far from the entrance and away from the part where we could be seen. I don't want people to see us together. I'm sure they will misinterpret everything.

"What's happening to you? Are you not feeling well? You look pale." I asked her but not in a concerned way.

She's sweating really bad. She shook her head and didn't say anything so I just started answering the exam.

"R-Raver, did you really heard e-everything I said? I mean, e-everything, every single word that I said..." She asked nervously. I looked at her, bewildered. What is the deal with this girl?

"Yeah. Why?" I asked in a confused way. She was suddenly got tensed after I asked her why.

"I-It's nothing! Don't mind me! Just focus on your exam!" She said, smiling awkwardly. I sighed and shrugged my shoulders. Girls are really complicated.

While I was studying, she's still behaving different from the way she normally is. Fortunately, it doesn't bother me while I was focus answering the exam.

I'm halfway through so I'm close to finishing the test. Gladly, this test is also easy. I guess today's exam is not that bad. My scholarship will be saved.

A group of girls approached us. "Coulyne! We missed you! How have you been? What are you doing..." She stopped talking when she saw me sitting beside her friend Coulyne.

"Oh! Vanessa, hello! What am I doing here? I'm with Raver. You know him, right?" Coulyne happily interacted with them. Classmates or friends? I don't know. All I know is, they hate me.

"Yeah, we know him. We really do..." That Vanessa said with an unpleasant look on her face.

"In fact, all the students of this university know this man. He's the weird guy. The Frankenstein!" They all laughed after that even though there's nothing funny about what she just said.

"Vanessa, stop that. Raver's not comfortab—Where are you going, Raver?" Coulyne tried to stop them but I've had enough. I stood up to leave the library to go to our classroom already. It's still lunch time but I don't care. This place is full of dumb people.

"I'm done answering. You can leave me now." I said to her in a serious voice before leaving.

"Wait for me! Raver!" She shouted but I didn't look back. I immediately left the place.

My blood is boiling right now. This is why I don't want to get involved to anyone. People will only make fun of me. They always do.

They treat me like I'm not a human, always. They don't care if other people are looking at them. I've had enough of this. I'm tired.

"I'm done having bunch of idiots around me." I said to myself. I sighed heavily as I walk back to our building.

Those kind of people are foolish. I can't stand their ignorance. They think that humiliating other people will make them stand out above the others.

They think that talking dumb things on a person will make them superior. What a shame.

i'd better be with monkeys. Monkeys are more human-like than them.

I have no other place to go except our classroom because the abandoned building is now being used by the second year students.

Their building is under renovation just like what was written on the article. They are really changing the second year's building. Coulyne's words worked like magic.

"Oh, where did you came from? Why do you look like that?" Claire asked me in astonishment. I bumped into her as I was on my way to our classroom.

"Nothing." I simply answered. She's now following me. Ugh, I thought I already found peace.

"Do you want to come with me? I found a cool place! Let's go check it out! You won't believe what I saw," she said excitedly. I thought for a few seconds before I answered her invitation

"Fine." I coldly said to her. She smiled widely because of my answer.

"Let's go!" She said while giggling. She's walking ahead of me of course. She's the one who knows the way that place.

I didn't come to her because I wanted to. I just don't have any other choice. It's better to come with her than to stay inside that suffocating classroom.

I don't want to be the center of their attention again. I'll stay with her until the lunch time is over.

"Here we are! This place is beautiful, isn't it?" She said as he ran towards the large fallen branch of a tree. My eyes are twinkling while observing the place. I never have an idea that we have this kind of place here in our university.

A small lake is in front of my sight. Different kind of trees, bushes, and flowers are surrounding the lake. I never thought this place is existing behind the fourth year building.

This place looks so calm and quiet. The chirping of singing birds and the leaves dancing in the clear breeze. It's wonderful.

"How did you find this place?" I asked Claire before sitting on the fallen branch, one and a half feet away from her.

"While I was strolling around here, I heard a sound of splashing waters and chirping birds. I checked this place, and I was astonished because of what I saw. It feels like a destiny that I found this place," she said with her brown eyes sparkling.

"Are you sure? Maybe the monster spirit who lives here just called you. And later he will take your soul with him." I said in a dead tone. She looked at me with her scared eyes.

"T-There's no way I would believe that!" She said, trying so hard to laugh. I smiled a little because of her reaction.

"Wow! You smiled?! This is the first time, right?! That's awesome!" She said while clapping. I looked away from her. Well, she's right. I don't know why, I just did it.

"Say, Raver. Is there a place where pain does not exist?" I looked at her with confusion. She's smiling but her eyes can't hide the pain she's having.

"I don't know. Maybe there is." I responded in a cold tone. I'm sure something's bothering her.

"Yeah, you're right. There is no certainty. But I still wish... You know, I think you're right... Love will come to the point where everything is complicated. But I still want to believe... I still want to believe that everything will be okay... I want to keep on believing..."

I was shocked when I looked at her. The tears from her brown eyes are dripping slowly from her face, yet her alluring smile is still written on her lips.

All I can say is that, she's strong for wanting to believe in something that's hurting her.

But we're different. I don't have the courage to believe in something that I can clearly see its fault. If that happens, I will definitely change my path. No matter what.

"Let's go. The lunch time is already over. We;'re going to be late. Forget what we talked about. It's embarrassing." She laughed while wiping her tears. I sighed. I walked already and didn't wait for her.

"What year are you in?" I asked her. She looked at me with her eyebrows frowning.

"Huh?! You're hurting my feelings, you know?! I thought you already know!" She complained. I rolled my eyes because of her reaction. How would I know? She didn't tell me before.

"Just answer my question. Stop talking nonsense." I said irritatingly.

"I'm a second year, architecture. President is one of my classmates. I'm lucky, right?" She said, proud of herself. Oh? They're classmates, huh? Coulyne wants to be an architect.

After I got back, the professor was about to give the test papers. I immediately went to my seat because everyone is staring at me, like always.

When the test papers were handed over, I immediately looked at mine. Some of the questions did not match from what I have studied. This Engineering Economics might fail me.

"What is this again? Ugh. Why do I need to answer this? I'm not gonna need this when I'm already selling fish at the market." i told myself because of frustration.

After taking that difficult exam, I immediately left the room, frustrated. I'm overthinking so much because of I know I'm not sure about some of my answers.

That's the subject I barely studied because I couldn't focus and I fell asleep last night. Ugh. How pathetic. May God help me. Please, have mercy on my grades.

"Never mind. I'll just watch something when I get home. Maybe some Hent-"

"There you are, Raver! Let's go. We're going to start right now." Claire suddenly showed up out of nowhere. What is she doing here? Luckily, no one is looking at us. We're on the stairs.

"What do you want? What are you taking about?" I asked, confusingly. She grabbed my hand and pulled me down the stairs.

After we got down, she let go of my hand. If she didn't, Ill be the one who's going to let go. There are students around now, and they might get the wrong idea if they see her holding my hand. I just followed her.

Maybe that old woman is calling me again. But don't worry, I'll tell her I want to leave the club.

"What took you so long? Sarmiento had complained again, isn't he?" She said with a disappointed look on her face. Claire sighed and shrugged her shoulders.

"What's new? He's always like that. If there is a competition for coldness, all the ice will treat him as their god." She said while looking at me like I'm a failure. Girls are scary and demons!

"Anyway, we're going to start collecting books now, since we're only half day and your classes already ended." Professor Smith said.

I sat on a chair because I'm tired after everything that happened today. Coulyne is sitting beside her and she looks sad and dead..Why?

"I'm quitting the club." I said in a serious way that made them stare at me with their judging looks. Stop it already!

"Are you joking? It's not happeni-"

"I already did my exam. I have nothing to do here anymore." After I said that, she crossed her arms and looked at me with a smirk on her face.

"Is that so? But who's holding your exam? Could you repeat the rule again? I want to hear it from you." She's teasing me. I'm sure of that.

"Students who are late in taking exams in various subjects on exam day will no longer be able to get special examination, unless they are allowed by the professor who is holding the subject they did not get." I answered. She raised her right eyebrow after I talked.

"That means, i'm holding your exam and i can do whatever I want. I can tell the administration that I didn't allow you to get a special examination." She said, smirking. This is ridiculous! She's a real demon!

"Fine!" I said and gave her an angry look. But she just laughed it off.! I will definitely have my revenge!
