3 The Community Service Club

Coulyne Faye Natividad, huh? I think I have heard that name before? Where was it? I forgot. Based on her looks, I'm sure she's popular.

Blue eyes, chestnut brown long hair, pink lips, white and smooth skin, and slim body. She's the type of girl that every guy's dream. But not me.

"Wait! Are you studying at the Natividad University?" She shouted at me when I'm about to leave. I glanced back at her and sighed.

"Yeah." I answered before walking again. Before I finally left the place, she followed me and walked beside me. This girl is a pain.

"What do you want?" I asked in an irritated tone. She looked at me again and smiled.

"What year are you in?" She asked, still smiling. I knew that we go to the same university because of her uniform. She's a second year.

"Third year." I simply answered without adding anything. She looks amazed of what I said. Don't I look like a third year?

"Ohh! You look like you're already graduated. Anyway, what course are you taking?" She asked again. Why are girls so straightforward? This is one of the reasons I hate them.

"Civil Engineering." I said but she didn't respond. I looked at her and she's busy with her phone. Finally, I can walk quietly.

I just helped her, but why is she following me? Give me a rest already. Is she going to follow me all the way to my house?

She's more annoying than Claire. I seem to have always been involved with women since these past few days. And worse, the popular ones.

"Uhm, Raver." She whispered but enough for me to be heard. I glanced at her and I said, "Hmm?"

"Where is your roo-"

"Milady, we need to go home now, your parents are worried about you." A man in a tuxedo showed up from a black and gold limousine. Milady?

She's a big time person? That means he is her butler? Wow. So they own this limousine, I can't believe it.

This is the first time I have ever seen an actual limousine and it's really fascinating. I really need to avoid her, it will be a big trouble if I get involved in her life.

"Thank you, Chepper. Sorry for the wait." Coulyne said to the man. Before she locked the door of the luxurious car, she told me a sentence that gave shivers all over my body.

"We will meet again!" The tone of her voice is excited and I don't understand why. No, I don't want to meet her again. Hopefully, this is the last.

As I walk on my way home, I'm recalling what happened earlier. I'm lucky I learned how to fight. Grandpa taught me some techniques and martial arts when I was living with them in the province.

Remembering them makes my heart ache. It's been a long time since the last time I visited our house in the province. If I would have a chance, I'd like to go there.

"I'm home." I said before I took my shoes off. Just like everyday, I took a bath first before I ate.

The exams were scheduled at the end of the school week which is Friday. I still have two days to review and to prepare.

Well, I've already studied some of the subjects so there is nothing to worry about, I think.

First, I took snacks so I have something to eat while studying. I will focus first on mathematics because I'm not really good at it.

I wish the upcoming exams are not that hard. But it's impossible because the end of the first semester is near.

After studying, I decided to sleep already because my head was hurting. I really want to read novels right now but I don't want to get sick.

Man, seriously. Everything is getting harder and harder everyday. If I could rest forever, I already did it.

"Why is all this happening to me?" I told myself. I was about to sleep when I remembered what that girl said before she left.

"We will meet again!'

"Ugh. When will all this end?" I said to myself and massaged my temples. I don't want to see her again nor Claire. I want to be alone.

What's her name again? Coulyne Faye Natividad? Is she the Faye that is the president of that damn club? What a fate. I feel like this is a payback. Fine. I'll just go with the flow. I'll just ignore them as soon as I enter the university. Alright.

Unfortunately, I failed.

"Good morning, Raver!" I looked around, checking if there are people who can see her talking to me. When I see that no one is looking, I turned my glance at her and raised my eyebrows.

"What do you want?" I asked in a dead tone. She giggled.

"I thought you would ignore m-" I no longer waited for her to finish because I had already walked passed her. I heard her sigh from behind.

"Wait for me! Do you want to eat lunch together?!" She shouted as she chased me.

"No way." I bluntly said to her but she's still following me. When I glanced at her, she's observing the place and she looks amused.

"Woah. Your building is better than ours. That's unfair," she complained. I sighed because she followed me all the way here. Does she have no classes?

"Why are you following me? You have classes, righ-" As soon as I looked at her, my body stopped after hearing what she said.

"Maybe, I'll go tell Dad to change our building too, something just like this one." She whispered to herself but It's enough for me to hear because of our close distance. I looked at her in shock.

"Oh, why did you stopped? What happened? You look like you just saw a monster," she said before mimicking the face of monster and laughed because of it.

What did she just say earlier? Wait a minute. Hold up. Who is her father? What kind of family does she really have? This is driving me crazy.

"Hey-" The bell rang so I didn't finish what I was going to say. I sighed because Coulyne ran immediately to go to her building.

Before she completely disappear from my sight, she shouted, "Let's just talk again later!" She smiled and waved her tiny hands before she left.

"Forget it. I need to go in my room classroom, too." I told myself before entering the building.

Why am I thinking about that? Why am I even curious of her life? I don't need to know what kind of life she has. Man, seriously, what's happening to me? Talk about pathetic.

"Good morning class. Today, we're going to tackle the last lesson for our first semester. As you all know, this Friday is our exam day, so I'm hoping that you already start studying. I'm expecting a lot from you." Professor Miranda said in a serious tone.

"Understood, sir." Everyone except Jessica and Verico said in unison. I smirked to myself. Are they fighting? They've been together for only two days, huh? Pathetic.

"Turn the book on page..." Professor said as the start of the lesson. I sighed heavily before grabbing my book out of my bag.

My first two classes ended so fast. I stood up on my chair to buy some food in the cafeteria, and eat it at my favorite part of this university.

When I got there, the line was long so I had to wait for a long time. After I bought tapsilog, I immediately left the place before he came, before George came.

"Oh! Hello, Raver! You're here again! What a coincidence!" She then laughed awkwardly. I looked away from Claire. Coincidence my ass.

"Why are you here?" I coldly told her after she sat beside me, and just like before, I moved away from her.

"I just want to tell you something. About the clu-"

"I have no interest, thank you." I said, ignoring her statement. They're so persistent. I hate it.

"But! But if I tell you how our club works, you might join the clu-"

"Don't you understand? I don't want to get involve to anyone. I only want my own company. Alone." I said in a serious voice. Instead of getting sad, she got angry at me.

She stood up but before she leave, she said, "I will not give up! You better prepare, Raver Xyle Sarmiento." I smirked at her because of it.

Why is this really happening to me? I can't stand this, seriously. I couldn't even eat properly ever since I met her.

"Sarmiento, professor Smith is calling you at the Science Department Office. She said she has something to talk about with you." Fernando Perez told me while I was reading.

I had no intention of going and following that old woman's order but my classmates heard what Fernando said so they started whispering to each other.

I don't have any other choice but leave to escape their stares and this kind of attention.

What else does she want us to talk about? Maybe Claire got her persistence from that old woman. Why is she even interfering in that club? Is she some kind of manager?

"Oh, Sarmiento. Come inside." She said while smiling, gesturing the inside of the office.

"Oh, glad you're here, Raver Xyle Sarmiento!" She said, grinning. Claire's also here? Just nice. This is fate. Face it.

I sat on the chair far from them. I looked around and I observed that the science professors are working on something. I'm glad we're not alone in this room. I don't want what happened yesterday to happen again.

Wait. Why is Claire always here? Does she have no classes? Or is she always excused? Privileges, tss. It makes me want to puke.

When your status is supreme among the others, you can do everything that you want. This is how system works. And will always be. Always.

"I already excused you on your next class, so don't worry about it." That old woman said to me. I just shrugged my shoulders. Whatever.

"What else do you want from m-"

"Professor Smith! I'm done with the wor—Woah! Raver, why are you here?" Coulyne interrupted, entering the office. She froze after seeing me inside.

What is this girl doing here? The three girls I hate are in the same room with me? This is unbelievable. Wait. Does this mean she's the president?

"Oh, Faye, your timing is perfect. We're having a meeting. Take a seat so that we can start already." Professor Smith said before taking a deep breath.

"Wait, president. Do you know him?" Claire asked Coulyne with confusion written on her face. Coulyne smiled at me widely. So she's the president. Now, everything makes sense to me.

"Yeah! He's the guy I've told you who saved me yesterday! Wait, you know him too?" Claire also asked, confused too.

"Y-Yeah. He's also the guy I told you about. The one I met at the supermarket." They both laughed because of it. It's like they have idiot connection. I want to go home so bad.

"Take your seats. Let's start the meeting." Professor Smith said that made them serious. When I looked at them, they both look professionals. You can feel that they're really from noble families.

"As you all know, the charity we've been working on is an important task. This is the club's first major activity. So we need to do everything properly, without any mess." She explained. Wait.

"And someone is going to help us. You probably know Professor Jimmy, right?" She asked. Jimmy? Yeah, I remember. The Literature professor.

"He's the hot professor, right? The famous one? Why him? Why didn't you tell us before? You're planning something aren't you?" Coulyne said in a teasing way. Professor Smith's ears turned a bit red.

"Of course not! I would never do such thin-"

"Is it really okay? I never thought you have love going on inside your mind. How old are you again?" Claire said continuously with a straight face. Woah? Is this the real Kim Smith?

"Hold up! I'm still in my prime! And o-of course I have love going on insde my mind but that doesn't mean it's J-Jimmy!" She accidentally raised her voice that caused the other science professors to stare at us. I sighed heavily. Coulyne apologized to them.

Well, professor Smith is beautiful, I admit that, even in her age. She has a slim body, long black hair, brown eyes behind her glasses.

She also has her own charm that's why some of the students here likes her. But I'm not that dumb to be like them. Maybe because I have no interest in women in the first place.

"Anyway, let's go back to the topic. As I said earlier, this is our first major activity. We need to gather and collect unused books: any types of books will do. We only have until Sunday so we need to hurry. The collected books will be distributed to the National Library of the Philippines and the others will be given to different orphanages." Professor Smith explained thoroughly. Coulyne raised her hand after that.

"Is it possible to extend the finishing date? I think 3 days isn't enough to collect high amount of books," she complained. Professor Smith massaged her temples and sighed.

"That's right, I'm thinking about that, too. But they didn't give us specific number of books we need to collect, so it's okay if it's little amount only. I'm sure we can do something about it." She explained to us. Coulyne and Claire nodded.

After the meeting, I went to the classroom because I still have class. The both of them also went to their rooms to attend their classes.

While I was listening to our professor teaching lessons, I thought to myself.

Why did I joined them?! Why did I listened to their discussion?! I'm not part of their club! Ugh. That old woman tricked me. Man, seriously. I'm pathetic. I need to be careful next time. I need to be aware of her another scheme. I must!
