8 Sarah's So-Called Best Friend

"Should we go help that girl? Something bad might happen to her." Claire said concernedly. She really looks worried.

"Don;t meddle. We are only here for the collection of books and nothing more. We don't have the right to interfere with them." I coldly blocked her suggestion. She then looked at Coulyne.

"President, do you know that girl?" She asked Coulyne, referring to the dumb girl..

They're still eating and laughing. All the students who are entering the cafeteria walks away when they are seen.

It looks like they are pretty infamous. Good for them.

"I don't know that girl. But I know the girl sitting beside her. I wonder how come you didn't know her, Claire." Claire looked at her, confused.

"What do you mean? How would I know her?" Claire asked, bewildered.

"Have you saw a viral post that says a college girl made three students drop out because she bullied them?" Coulyne asked her. Claire thought for a bit before she realized.

"Yeah. I saw that before it was taken down. I wonder why it was deleted," she said scratching her chin.

"What does it have to do with the girl?" She added. Coulyne looked at her.

"She's the girl who bullied the three of them," she answered. Claire was quickly startled by what she said.

Oh? How come she's the follower now? That dumb girl defeated her, huh? Pathetic.

"Then, why is she still here? Shouldn't she have been expelled from this academy?" Claire asked confusingly. Coulyne just shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know. All I know is that her father's a senator." Coulyne responded. I smirked as soon as I heard the word senator.

So that;s how it is? Her father used his power to cover up her daughter's illicit activities. I feel like I will puke.

What a bond they have. He really takes good care of her demon child.

"Let's go. It's already 5:00." I said to them. They nodded at me. We cleaned the table first before we leave.

But an unfortunate accident happened.

"Look what you did! Don't you have eyes?! Are you trying to pick a fight with me?!" The dumb girl said to Coulyne.

As soon as Coulyne stood up, she bumped into that dumb girl which caused the water she was holding to spill on the floor.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't see you walking beside me. I apologiz-"

"Huh?! Apologize?! Will your apology be able to return my water you threw on the floor?!" She shouted at her. The people around us are staring. This need to be stopped.

"We're really really sorry! We're just going to buy you another on-"

"Wait! I recognize you! You're the daughter of the owner of Natividad University, right?! Wow! We got some big shot here!" The girl Coulyne was talking about earlier interrupted Claire.

"Oh, is that so? Maybe we can find another way to pay." That dumb girl said with smirk in her face.

"Let's see how strong you ar-"

"She already apologized." I said, I said and held her hand to prevent her from touching Coulyne's arm.

"What are you? Her knight in shining armor?!" She said then laughed together with her squad. I looked at them disgustedly.

"If that makes you happy." I said before opening her hand that i'm holding. I put money on it and closed it again.

We are about to leave but she shouted, "Are you really mocking me?! I don't need your mone-"

"Then, what do you need? People you can trample on and underestimate? Are they what you need?" I said to them with a dead expression. They looked shocked because of what I said.

See? I pierced through them. They are easy to read. I can already see what their weaknesses are.

"Or maybe you need to feed your hunger for being the tyrant? Or are you just a mentally ill insane person?" I added. They looked pissed but they couldn't say anything.

I'll try to guess what she will do next. She's going to leave, but before that,

"Let's get out of here! A clown is roaming the academy!" She said before leaving, taking her idiot squad with her.

The predator will leave if he or she can't devour his or her chosen prey. Just like what she did. How pathetic.

"Are you okay?" Claire asked Coulyne because she looks scared.

"Y-Yes, I'm fine. Let's go," she said with a tired voice. I sighed before walking with them.

"What did you do to them? They looked scared to you." Claire suddenly said to me. Her voice seems confused and amazed at the same time.

"I didn't do anything. I just told them some truth." I said in a monotonous voice.

"Is that the advantage of being a loner?" Coulyne said then laughed a little. I rolled my eyes because of that.

"Aren't you ashamed?" I asked her back. She looked at me with an angry face.

"Why would I be ashamed?" She asked with a frowning look. Claire also looked at me, confused.

"Because anyone can see your ugly face." I said to her then smiled in a teasing way. She's gone really mad because of what I said.

"Wow? Thank you for that joke, Mr. Loner since high school," she counter-attacked. I looked away.

I feel like I want to boil someone in a huge boiling pot or lift her on a ceiling.

When we were on our way back to the library, the students were already leaving. So the everywhere is crowded. The end of the classes is an hour early from ours.

"The students here sure are lively, aren't they?" Coulyne said when we got inside the library.

"Yes, you're right. This academy has more students than our university. I also noticed there were more male than female students." Claire said, amazed. I sighed before talking.

"Maybe because the female students here are truly angels, unlike the girls in our univer-"

I stopped talking when I saw them staring at me dead in the eyes. I swallowed hard before leaving them. That was close.

I went to the counter or whatever to talk to professor Smith and professor Jimmy. It's already 5:00 P.M.

"Professors, aren't we going yet?" I said to them with an exhausted tone. Professor Smith looked at me, troubled.

"Oh, sorry. A problem suddenly showed up and we need to fix this," she said while looking into a some kind of paper.

"Do you need some help?" I asked but not in a concerned way. Her eyes widen, shocked.

I guess I should have just shut up. This old woman will just make fun of me.

"Wow, that's the first time I heard that you want to help..." She said while her hand is on her chest, acting super shocked. I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway, don't worry, we can do it ourselves. Besides, this is not a work suited for you. Just tell the others to wait more." Professor Smith said before refocusing on the paper. I nodded before I left.

I wonder what it is? Does it have to do with the charity? No clue.

When I came back to the place where I left them, they're already sitting and doing something, I approached them to tell them what professor Smith said to me.

"Professor Smith said we have to-"

"Hey, Raver! Look! We found a cat! She's lovely, isn't she?!" Coulye lively said. Claire is also happy playing with the cat.

So this is what they are doing, huh? What is a cat doing here? Did they bring it here?

"Why are you holding a cat?" I told them with my one eyebrow rose up. They're giggling like a little child.

"What are you saying again?" Coulyne asked. I just sighed heavily because they didn't answer my question.

"Professor told me to tell you that we have to wait more." I said to her before sitting. Claire is still playing with the cat.

"Why? They are not done yet? It's already 5:00, huh?" She asked with confusion written in her eyes.

"Yeah. She said a problem suddenly showed up." I answered to her before standing up.

"Oh, where are you going?" She asked curiously. I scratched the tip of my nose.

This girl is really annoying! She has too many questions! Can't she just shut her mouth?

"I'll just grab a book while waiting." I said then left. I don't want to hear another question.

I grabbed the Harry Potter book and the Game of Thrones. I could a page in just 10 seconds or something so I took two books.

"What name are we going to give her?" Claire asked to Coulyne while pouting as soon as I came back.

I ignored them and proceed on reading the Harry Potter book first. But the cat walked over the book after I put it down on the table.

"Oh my gosh! Don't go there! Raver will eat you alive!" Coulyne said before taking the cat. I sighed heavily.

"Woah! That's a good name! From now on, her name is Gosh!" Claire said happily. I massaged my temples because of stress.

"By the way, Raver. Why can't you join us tomorrow?" Coulyne asked me while Claire is busy again with the cat.

"I have a job." I simply said to her. I caught Claire's attention because of that.

"What job are you taking?" Claire asked curiously. I turned one page before answering her.

"I work as a waiter in a fast food chain." They looked amaze because of what I said. I just shrugged my shoulders.

Is this their first time hearing a waiter of a fast food chain? Oh, my bad. I forgot. They're rich.

"How about your parents? What are their occupations?" Coulyne asked me. I stopped reading and my body froze.

"I don't have parents nor grandma and grandpa." I answered her as cold as ice. Colder than normal.

All the memories rushed through my mind. Everything. I couldn't move my body.

"O-Oh, sorry... I didn't mean to... So you're living alone?" She asked again. I opened the book to continue reading.

"What's wrong with living alone?" I asked in a monotonous voice. It made her silent.

"N-Nothing..." Coulyne said, scared. Silence covered the table after that. It only broke when Claire shouted.

"Gos—Where are you going?!" Claire shouted because the cat jumped down the table and left the library.

Claire and Coulyne both followed the cat outside. I took a deep breath before standing up to follow them outside.

"Is she the girl that cried earlier in the cafeteria?" I heard Claire whispered to Coulyne as I walked to them.

We're behind a building and we're hiding behind a bush. The girl who cried earlier is sitting under a tree holding the cat.

"Maybe she's the owner of Gosh. They look happy with each other." Coulyne said with a happy tone.

"Hey! Where are you goi-"

"Hello! What's your name? Is that your cat?" Claire suddenly went to the girl and asked her with a smile on her face. Coulyne did the same thing.

Ugh! These girls are really pain in the ass! I shoud have not followed them here!

"Y-Yeah... I've been finding her because when I got back here, she's not around... And I'm Sarah..." She responded shyly. I stood beside Coulyne before letting out a sigh. The girl looked at me with fear in her eyes.

Man, seriously?! This is the second time! Cut it out already!

"Oh, we found her in the library before she ran here." Coulyne said, patting the head of the cat.

"T-Thank you." Based on her behavior right now, she's just like me. A loner.

I know what it feels to have an interaction with people for the first time after being alone for a long time.

"Your knees are bleeding." Coulyne said and immediately took her handkerchief from her pocket to wipe the blood.

"D-Don't worry... I-I-I can handle that myself..." Sarah said while stuttering but Coulyme just ignored her.

"Do they always treat you like this?" She asked seriously. Sarah got shocked but her face turned into a sad expression in an instant.

"You saw what happened earlier... Yeah... That's what happens everyday..." Sarah said then tears started falling from her eyes.

"Do you know her?" Claire asked concernedly. Sarah looked at her and nodded as an answer to her question.

"Yeah... Everyone here knows her and her squad... She transfered here on the start of first semester... And after that, she started doing all of this to every student and nerds in this academy..." Sarah explained.

"We're going to help you." Coulyne said with full determination. Sarah looked at her, confused.

"H-Huh?... You don't have to... I can handle th-"

"We will make everything right." Claire added to Coulyne's statement. I looked at them and sighed.

I guess I have no choice but to follow.

But who's the person in her I.D.?

"Sarah, who's the person in the picture in your I.D.? I asked her in my normal tone. She's hesitating like the girl I asked where the cafeteria was.

"S-She's my best friend before..." She answered. I walked towards her to look at the picture more clearly.

"Where is she now?" I asked seriously. The two other girls looked at me, confused.

"What's the importance of askin-"

"Sarah." I said in a dead tone. She looked at me, scared. Did I went too far?

"S-She disappeared without saying goodbye... I don't know where she is after that... I also lost contact to her..." She answered. The pain it brought her is still visible in her eyes.

"What's with you, Raver?" Coulyne asked, bewildered. I didn't answer her question.

I smirked to myself after I realized something. This is a twist I thought I can only find in novels and movies.

"Let's help her." I said to them. The both of them smiled because of it.

"Don't worry Sarah. We're here to help you." Coulyne said and held her hand. Sarah smiled genuinely.

I want to know their reactions. I want to know her reaction. I want to know what will happen when they finally meet again.

Oh my bad. They have always been together from the start.
