Chapter 42: Transfiguration Club

"You want to learn how to conjure an umbrella using a wand?" Professor McGonagall listened to Albert's words, and her facial muscles twitched slightly as she stared at him seriously. "That's part of the O.W.L. exam."

"I know, Professor Flitwick already told me," Albert nodded to indicate his knowledge. "But I believe it doesn't hinder me from learning and mastering it."

"Ambition is not always a good habit, especially in Transfiguration, which is more rigorous than other subjects." Professor McGonagall obviously didn't want to disclose anything about summoning spells, especially after the incident with the door being dismantled. "You still need to learn many things before you can truly delve into that area."

"Oh, okay," Albert thought for a moment and asked, "Can I ask what year level covers summoning spells?"

"It's taught in the fifth year," Professor McGonagall replied casually.

"Alright, I understand, Professor," Albert nodded and turned to leave. Since Professor McGonagall wasn't going to teach him, he could simply borrow a book or learn it on his own from Flourish and Blotts.

"What do you mean, you understand?"

What exactly do you understand?

Professor McGonagall felt a headache coming on. Her intuition told her that Albert might attempt to master summoning spells on his own, which was undoubtedly a very bad thing.

"Mr. Anderson," Professor McGonagall hurriedly called out to stop Albert.

"What's the matter, Professor?" Albert paused and turned his head, asking in confusion.

He certainly didn't think that Professor McGonagall had changed her mind.

"Tell me honestly, how far have you progressed in Transfiguration?" Professor McGonagall beckoned him over, asking as Albert approached.

"How far?" Albert reached up and rubbed his chin, sneakily glancing at his Level 1 Transfiguration badge.

Honestly, he didn't know his level of proficiency.

"Probably... I've learned most of the content in this book!"

"Learned most of it!" Professor McGonagall's eyes widened involuntarily, as if she couldn't believe what she had just heard.

"I've been practicing Transfiguration and Charms before the start of the school year," Albert murmured quietly, "As long as you practice more, magic isn't as difficult as you imagine."

"Not as difficult as imagined?" Professor McGonagall felt her whole body trembling. She took a deep breath and quickly regained her composure, speaking to Albert, "Mr. Anderson, if you can turn a matchstick into a mouse, I'll allow you to join my Transfiguration Club."

"Transfiguration Club?" Albert looked puzzled. He admitted that his memory of the book "Harry Potter" was a bit fuzzy, but it seemed... yes... there was never a mention of a Transfiguration Club... Hmm, no, this club never appeared, only the Slug Club did.

"That's a club I formed, we meet twice a week to discuss and study topics related to Transfiguration," Professor McGonagall explained.

Albert glanced at the matchstick, then at Professor McGonagall, and nodded to indicate his understanding. He raised his wand and focused his mind, reciting the incantation. The matchstick visibly sped up and transformed into a mouse, although the transfiguration wasn't perfect as the mouse had a limp leg.

Well, it was a limping mouse, but it was indeed a mouse.

Albert observed the limping mouse and shook his head helplessly. "I've never attempted to transform an object into a living creature before. It's much harder than transforming between objects. Maybe if I try a few more times, I'll succeed."

Although this was Albert's first attempt at transforming between objects and living beings, the theory of Transfiguration provided him with theoretical support.

Wanting to succeed on the first try is quite challenging, but Albert was satisfied with his result. With more practice, the chances of achieving complete success would increase.

In Transfiguration, only a complete transformation can be considered successful.

"No need, you've passed!" Professor McGonagall withdrew her wand and tapped the limping mouse, transforming the poor little creature back into a matchstick.

"Passed?" Albert wasn't surprised, as it meant he had joined Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration Club.

As for why he was so certain?

It was because of the prompt on the panel, of course.

A minute ago, the task of joining the Transfiguration Club had just popped up, and now it had already changed to completed.

"I suggest you read more books," Professor McGonagall rapidly recommended several books to Albert, clearly not wanting him to attempt transfiguration experiments haphazardly, as Transfiguration could be quite dangerous.

"Alright, I understand," Albert nodded. Since he had to read a hundred books anyway, he just hoped they wouldn't be too thin.

"What were you talking about with Professor McGonagall?" Fred couldn't help but ask as Albert joined his roommates.

"I was inquiring about summoning spells," Albert explained, "But Professor McGonagall thinks it's too early for me to learn. By the way, she invited me to join her Transfiguration Club."

"Transfiguration Club?" all three of them exclaimed. "What's that?"

"I heard it's a club Professor McGonagall established herself," Albert thought for a moment and said, "We discuss and study topics related to Transfiguration together."

"Are you kidding?" The twins were speechless when they heard Albert's words.

"You're amazing, and it's truly enviable," Lee Jordan felt a little jealous. This was undoubtedly special treatment from the Headmistress towards Albert.

"Cough, cough." George cleared his throat and changed the subject. "By the way, do you two want to join us at the Quidditch pitch later?"

"Trying out flying before our flying class wouldn't be a bad idea," Fred agreed. "Charlie won't mind having two more people for testing."

"Would you like to go, Albert?" Lee Jordan asked.

"It would be nice to try flying if it's possible," Albert agreed.

To soar freely in the sky.

A bit excited about it!

Although he had ridden a toy broomstick once, it was actually quite dull.

The agreed time was half past four in the afternoon, and there was still a long time before 4 o'clock.

Albert planned to go to the library to read and meet the three of them in the Great Hall at the appointed time, so he went to the library alone.

"Now, what should we do?" Lee Jordan looked at Albert's retreating figure and asked.

"Go outside for a stroll?" George pointed outside the castle, and the idea received agreement from the other two.

When Albert arrived at the library, he found that there were still only a few kittens there. He found a seat and, under the disguise of reading a book, opened the task panel. Joining the Transfiguration Club task provided Albert with 2000 experience points.

"A level 2 skill?" he murmured to himself. Going from level 1 to level 2 required exactly 2000 experience points, so Albert casually upgraded his Transfiguration Theory to level 2.

Level 2 Transfiguration Theory should be enough for him until graduation. As for level 3, that already belonged to the realm of professors.
