2 Awaken

The world was dark and the man shifted his body in an attack stance as he was surrounded. He was ready to die, just as his friends have done before hand. He took a deep breath as the earth shook and the fight began.

"Asleep again are you?!" the room began to brighten and colors turned into shapes and those shapes became faces. He was in a classroom with twelve others. A woman no older than twentysomething stood at the front of the room, she was focusing her attention at the now roused boy.

"Elrian please recite the seven names of the Inpius Grigori" she waited attentively for his response.

Elrian bounced up from his seat "Tamiel, Azazel, Ananiel, Ramiel, Turiel, Arakiel and their leader Samyaza" he looked around for reassurance from his peers. A girl in the fourth row down from him nodded in agreement. "Very well you may sit down" she pointed back to his seat. His face flushed with color. The teacher began to write on the board behind her.

"The purpose of this rudimentary novice class is to determine whether you have the El Cid or not; Can anyone tell me what is the El Cid" the once barely audible buzzing in the room became an uproar as peers began to shout answers. "One at a time!" she scanned the room and the proceeded to pick the girl from before. She had light Auburn hair and colorless grey eyes with freckles on her face. she stood up. "The El Cid.. the power to change or to make change. There are two types of classification: Penitus and Egressus." she paused for a moment before continuing "Penitus the power to change your self or your inner workings. Egressus the power to change your surroundings" the class clapped in approval.

With her back turned to the class the teacher began to write once again on the board "How is this determined and what is the process?" she looked back and no one raised their hand this time. "It is called the El Cid Eva which determines if you possess the El Cid or not. This process involves your soul, and if you have it; it ranks you on your potential" she paused. "Miccah!" she points to the boy spaced out next to Elrian "What are the ranks?" the boy obviously confused stammers and begins to yell out "Primo, Secun, Tert, Quaris, and Centum" he continued now in a lower volume " they can be translated into first, second, third, fourth, and final" he paused and quickly sat back down in his seat blood still rushing to his face from embarrassment.

"The odds of this class having the El Cid is Thirty five percent which roughly translates to five of you. This however, is just the first step. The percentages for each rank decrease as you go up. furthermore each of these ranks is broken into three parts novice, intermediate and advanced. " she waited for any questions from the group.

"So you are saying that out of all thirteen of us five will possibly have the potential and then from there even less to rank up?!" Elrian spoke up. The teach glanced at him with contemn. "Yes that is correct" Any other questions?" Elrian waved his hand like crazy. "I wasn't done!" "Is it possible that you are wrong? Can the whole class have the El Cid?" The teacher flustered now. "Elrian these are facts. The El Cid Eva is one hundred percent accurate." She turned her back towards the class once more "I think you're wrong" he murmured before settling down back into his seat.

"I'll have you know i am a Secun ranked intermediate Egressus." the teacher spoke confidently to her class. She proceeded "Do you think that someone like you from a poor family can even break Primo rank? It takes years of cultivating your soul and meditation to even reach intermediate rank in Primo; and that is if you even have the ability to use El Cid in the first place! So please sit down and let me finish." her voice stern and agitated now. "Then lets make a bet Miss Darte" Once again Elrian was up out of his seat the class in amusement all eyes on him as he dared to challenge the teacher. "The first Eva is in six months. If i can prove to you that this class as a whole will become El Cid you have to forfeit your position" he boldly spoke. He was dauntless. Darte was flabergasted at his remark. "You think this class will all become El Cid? Are you joking?" she laughed. "What do i get out of it?" she mused the thought of embarrassing the boy. "I will forfeit my families provisions." "You do realize without those provisions your family will die" she remarked. "Fine it takes a soul force of at least fifty to be considered a Primo novice. Lets see you try" she appropriately nodded to his arrangement.

Six months to make sure all thirteen of them can pass the El Cid Eva. This was not going to be an easy task.
