2 Ch. 2 Jealousy

Thorn smiled. "Sure. But only if Brent is really okay with it." Lucian looked over to Brent with puppy eyes and he just sighed. "Fine. If you really want to lose that bad then sure." "Lose? I've never lost to you in my life." "I meant to her." Selina smiled at Thorn as the boys talked and Sally fumed as she watched Lucian stare at her. "That stupid slut couldn't just stay away," she thought to herself. "She deserves what happens next then." Sally went up to her room as Thorn followed Brent and Lucian to the basement. The large room was empty except for a rack of suits and five doors in the wall. "This one should fit you Thorn." Brent handed her one of the suits as Lucian grabbed another. "Now let's get dressed and we can start." They went threw the doors into spacious changing rooms and came out in their suits. "Umm. Brent can you help me with the zipper please?" "What's wrong with it?" Brent walked over to her and she turned her back to him. "It got caught in my hair so I can't zip it up all the way." "Here I'll get your hair out of it and zip it for you." Her hair felt like pure silk in his hands as he untangled it from the zipper and his mind started to wonder what noise she would make if he grabbed more of it. Shaking off his lustful curiosity he finished getting her hair out of the zipper and noticed a bunch of gruesome scares on her back. Thorn flinched when she felt his fingers touch one of the many scars that she just remembered was there and she quickly pulled away. "I-I'm sorry... I just remembered.. I have to get home and do some chores. I-I've gotta go." She ran back into the changing room and quickly put her clothes back on. As she was about to leave the basement Sally blocked her path at the top of the stairs. "Where do you think you're going criminal?" "I'm not a criminal Sally." "Oh? Well I see you trying to steal Lucian from me and I'd say that's definitely something a criminal would do. Like mother like daughter after all." Suddenly Sally shoved Thorn and she started to fall down the stairs. Thorn closed her eyes waiting for the feeling of hard ground and pain but it didn't come. She opened her eyes and saw that Lucian had caught her and Brent was racing up the stairs to them. "Are you okay?" Her face turned red as she realized just how close their faces were to each other. "U-um... I-I'm fine. Thank you." "Thornie, what happened?" Brent asked as he finally made it to them. "I just tripped and almost fell down the stairs," she lied. Lucian looked at her confused and sat her down. "Thank goodness for Lucian and his super hearing or you'd be in a body cast if not a bag." "Yeah. Thank goodness." Thorn fixed her coat and walked out of the basement. The two boys followed and stopped her in the entry way. "Thorn are you leaving because of what I saw in the basement?" Lucian looked at Brent. "What did you see?!" "No. It's not just that.. I've gotta get ready for my first day of school tomorrow and cook Harley dinner." "You're starting school tomorrow? What school?" "Oh! Um.. Gotham High. I think other villain children go there too. So..." "What?! You're going to school with villains?!" "Well it's the closest school to the apartment and I can't really afford Gotham Prep. Plus it's only for a year. But I'll try seeing you after ok?" Lucian got close to her and moved a piece of hair from her face. "Is everything ok?" "Y-yeah. I'm fine." She couldn't look him in the face. "Brent, I'm gonna walk Thorn to her bike. I'll be back in a minute." "Alright, mate. But don't take too long." Lucian nodded at him and ushered Thorn out of the house. "I heard what Sally said to you before pushing you down the stairs." "Yeah?" "I'm sorry. She keeps saying I'm hers to all the girls at school too." "You don't seem to deny it." They began walking down the stairs and Thorn tripped but before Lucian could catch he a black bubble appeared and pushed her back up. Lucian looked around frantically and got nervous. "What the hell?! W-who did that?" Thorn looked sad and worn out. "I'm sorry. I don't usually do that in front of people.." He looked at her surprised. "That was you?! How?!" She held up her hand to show a black lantern ring without looking at him. "A... Black lantern?...." "My dad's Nekron... I-I'm sorry.. I've really gotta go." Thorn ran to her bike and sped away. Lucian just stood there. "Who's Nekron?"

Within minutes Thorn was surrounded by old broken down buildings and abandoned parking lots. She parked her bike behind a grummy dumpster and set the alarm before climbing the steps of a worn down apartment building. In the different rooms there could be yelling and fighting heard at all hours of the day. Thorn got to the apartment that had haha carved into the door and unlocked the door. As she walked inside a giant hammer hit her in the gut and she hit the door with blood coming out of her mouth. "Hi mom," she said weakly. "Who the hell are you?" Harley said pointing the hammer at Thorn. "It's me mom. Thorn." She spit out the blood and stood up. Thorn looked at her mother and knew she wasn't there. All that time in Arkham fried her brain and gave her Alzheimers. The thought of Arkham scared Thorn and the memories that she had of it didn't help. Harley swung the hammer and caught Thorn in the back making her fall to the floor and spit up more blood. "Yup. Definitely have some broken ribs with that one," she thought. She weakly got up and went out the door locking it behind her. Thorn shakily got out her cellphone and called Brent. It rang and rang. No answer. He didn't pick up until the third try and Thorn was nearly unconscious. "Who is this? Do you know what time it is?" He answered angrily. "Hey Brent. It's Thorn." "Thorn?! Why is your voice so weird?" "Can you ask your mom to come get me? I'll send you the address." "Why do you need my mom? Thorn? Thorn?!" The line went dead and Thorn quickly sent him the address before passing out.
