Jake was a child who absolutely didn't have talent for Magic. He always failed at everything even though he new the theories well however when it came to performing it he failed. That's what he was told . The truth was that he could do it it's just his Mana was incredibly low.
Children's Mana could grow up to a certain degree where they could cast low spells and make their Mana grow and strong enough to handle cultivating mana however his wasn't that large and he was diagnosed that he could survive to the age of 17 so 2 years to go for him.
When he was diagnosed his parents were dead and he only had his big sister until she became a mage in training and died in a beast attack . He cherished the small things he had considering his home was located at the farthest end of the clan and was great even lower than guards. Even the animals had more prestige than him and the worst of all , he was betrothed to the most beautiful girl in all of Eight .
( Eight was the small continent they had left to live in since everything else was occupied by the magic beasts and it represents the percentage. )
You could imagine been the weakest and betrothed to the most beautiful and a prodigy at that . She was a whole package In this god forsaken a world so people didn't pass up the chance to bully him .

This was the day that every person had been waiting for . This was the graduation day . The class went well and the bell rang. Everyone started walking to the cafeteria chatting with friends as Jake layed his head down at his desk and waited for everyone to go then took out his homemade food which consisted of bread with butter and a small box of milk. He hurriedly took them as to not be discovered and sat back in his position.
He couldn't show what he had because he was poor and the clan could accuse him of stealing but in truth he had a job that even though didn't pay fairly , he had enough money to buy what he needed.
" Good afternoon everyone " The teacher said as he was greeted back.
" Good I can see all of you are doing well . Now for today's class and the last one we shall have , I would like each and all of you to come and take your certificate and * grin * read which school you have been allowed to ." The teacher said looking at Jake.
Everyone did their turn and all three people were accepted to high tier school although not the best .
" Next Jake Winchester " He said.
" Jake groggily woke up and unsealed his certificate .
it read . ' Congratulations Jake Winchester on being accepted to Magi High , we will be expecting you on the date of December 4th please be ready by then '
Jake's only thoughts was ' What the fuck ' One of the most prestigious schools had accepted him but for what reason . He maintained his neutral expression.
" I haven't been accepted to any school " He said. The teacher smirked and asked him to hand over his scroll which he ended up sealing it in his bag .
" Am sorry , but this is classified , either take it or I tell the principal what you have been doing " He said and everyone was surprised Jake had just stood up for himself .
The teacher groaned knowing the principal was a fair man so he dropped the subject.
Soon Classes were over and everyone went their separate ways.
Families came to pick them with either familiars or technology and once again Jake was reminded he was alone.
He slowly walked until he felt a stab to the chest.
The culprit was an assassin , he was tall and muscular and was covered all over , you could only see his eyes.
Jake crawled trying to run and the Assassin just watched in amusement as he tried running away. He ever went to the extent of answering a call. " Mission accomplished ,Yes here he is " He said showing the crawling boy .
" My payment , I expect it now ,thank you for your coo... " Jake fainted. Everything was white , he had no idea where he was but it was so peaceful however it was short lived when something ran through his mind.
