1 Marriage alliance

Marcus returned home from his ride, he had gone out to clear his mind. The war going on at the borders was getting him worked up.

He got off his horse and rushed into the palace before anyone could notice that he was gone. He took a big risk leaving the palace at such times with the werewolves running wild killing the first human they meet.

Their crazy ruthless king was out for blood and his people were struggling to keep up with them. They fought bravely but even they knew that they will all fall soon.

He was lucky no one noticed that he had gone missing and what more was that he got the wolf back into the forest safely.

He prayed in his heart that the poor thing doesn't get hurt in the war again. Right now human were out to kill any wolf they came across where it was werewolf or not.

He took a risk saving the wolf a few weeks back and the stress it brought on him almost cost him his life. For weeks he tended the wolf back to life making sure that no one knew that it was there I'm his room.

He took the trouble to save a wolf and even after setting it free, his heart was racing in his chest worried for the poor thing.

He stood by the window of his room with his eyes to the forest where he had freed the wolf. The howling was heard in the distance where war was taking place. The screaming was getting louder.

It was a normal thing now that didn't surprise them. He had gotten used to the sounds of the war it seized to bother him as much as it did before when the war started.

He doesn't even know what caused the war in the first place so the point of it was unknown to him. He was the prince of Narsia. The human kingdom that has long harboured hate for supernatural creatures such as werewolves.

For many years he had watched his kingdom execute werewolves that were found trespassing in their lands. And hence they grown feared by the lone wolves that was without a park.

"Master, the king is back," he came out of his thoughts and glanced back at the servant by the door. He didn't notice them come in, his face bore a frown instead of a smile when he heard that his father had returned.

Since the war started a few months back. He could count the number of times that he hand seen his father with the fingers of his one hand.

He never came home even once. He had a fort built by the border where he resided in as he personally guided the warriors to war.

He was a skillful fighter and strategy planner and perhaps that is the reasons they have stayed alone till now. He got the things he needed by the border.

His return was not calming at all. He folded his hands behind his back and walked passed the servant to go and greet his father. It was a rule inybs kingdom for all in the palace to welcome amy member of the royal family returning from a trip.

He made his way down the hall meeting his sister who was also going to welcome their father.

"Greeting brother," she greeted to him.

"Greetings," he responded hooking his hand around hers. "What reason do you think father has returned home for?"

"Seeing as the war is still on going, it must be urgent for him to have returned," her answer matched his thoughts.

The only thing that worried him was they facts that he had this bad feeling in his heart that something bad was going to happen to him. He didn't know what to do about how nervous he was.

They arrived at they hall, the king and the welcoming commitee was no where to be seen. After asking around they came to learn that the elders of the royal family were having an important family meeting.

The meeting that could change the course of the war or even end it for good. Hearing what the guard has to say, Marcus and Maila looked at each other in worry.

"What do you think they are discussing?" the horror in Maila's face was evident when she questioned him. It was clear that he had a clue of what they discussed and it frightened her.

"Either they have agreed in terms of wealth to settle the issue. Or both kings have come together to become family," he said pointing out the fact that they could have agreed to a marriage alliance.

The princess held on to his hand worried about herself. Getting married to the ruthless and cold hearted king of Zayion was the last thing on her mind. The very thought of it terrified her.

"Nothing is decided yet so don't panic," Marcus comforted. He rubbed his sister's hand gently.

They went for a walk in the garden to help her clear her mind. She was shaking in his hands that he had no idea his to handle the situation.

"I want to know what they are talking about," she said to him. "Let's go," she added and went to pull him in the direction of the family room.

They stood outside the window of the room where the meeting was being held and listened to the conversation that was going on inside.

"Are you mad?"they heard their mother let out angrily in the room. "What you are suggesting is inhuman," she added.

"How could you have agreed to even think about this?" their aunt questioned.

"My point exactly. How could you think of sacrifices your own blood like this?" their mother asked in tears.

Based on how tensed things were in the room they both knew that the worst was yet to come.

"How could you sacrifice the throne of Narsia like this. How could you do this?" their grandmother's voice was heard. She seemed heart broken from the way she spoke.

"Tell me my king, how could you sacrifice your son. The heir to they throne of Narsia to that heartless man?" their mother asked causing Marcus's heart to fall. "How could you agree to a marriage alliance between that ruthless king and our son?"
