2 Chapter One

Flashback

Michael's p.o.v

"Come on Michael, we're going to be late!" I run along the dark woods with my twin sister. We dodge tree branches and rocks along the way. We finally reach our house and we walk inside to see our mother cooking dinner.

"Where have you been girls? I said midnight to be here." We stand in front of her with our heads down." Sorry mother, it won't happen again." She sighs and lifts our chins up." It's alright. Do not let that happen again. Now go get washed up, y'all's are very dirty."

We chuckle and run up quickly to our room to get washed up. My name is Michael Heather Barnes while my twin sister is Michelle Grabiela Barnes. I am the oldest by 20 minutes and we fight about that a lot. We both may be twin, but there is a difference from us. I have black with brown hair from our father while Michelle has blonde hair from our mother.

I have green eyes while she had blue eyes. Even if we are different, we still look alike and act alike. She is more calm and smart compare to me where I am brave and strong. We get ready and we put on our outfits that our mother has chosen for us. Michelle has a white skirt with a blue shirt while I have a black pants and a white long sleeve shirt.

We do our hair and we wait until we are called downstair for a pack tradition. It is a tradition for new members of the family to be present to the Alpha and his Luna at the age of 6. They are the most powerful pack from the tribe well respected. My hands twitches a bit from nervous and Michelle grabs them." It will be fine Michael, I am with you all the way until the end."

She makes a fist and places it on her heart and I do the same. We hear our names be called out and we look at each other and slowly walk down the stairs to the light of the living room.

Present day

10 years later

Michael p.o.v

"Michael! Wake up! You will be late for your classes at the academy!" I slowly raise my head to see my alarm saying 7:10 am. OH NO! CLASSES START AT 7:30! I quickly get up and I throw on my uniform and I head to the bathroom. I quickly brush my teeth, do my hair and I head down stairs.

My mother is in the kitchen making breakfast for my little brother Marco and puts an apple on the counter. "Morning Michael, I see you decided to finally get up." I grab the apple and I quickly head to the door and I grab my backpack and I put on my coat. My coat is a black leather with my family's crest engrave on the back with white. Our crest is two sword crossed with our letter of our name, Barnes.

"Yeah, yeah mother. I will see you at noon. I am going to see Brian after school to do a project we are doing, bye!" I walk out and I start to run through the forest. The wind blows through short hair as a dodge through the trees. I use to have my hair long but since my sister left, I cut it short pixie like Brian.

Brian is my best friend that has stayed with be through the hard times. He is slightly taller then me and he is a loveable person. He has black hair, hazel eyes and a nice personality. I finally make it to the academy and I see Brian waiting for me.

"Tick tock Michael! We are late for our weaponary classes." He smacks the back my head as we walk quickly and enter the room to see that we were 5 minutes late. "Miss Barnes, Mister Martinez, glad that you could join us today. Please find a seat so we can continue." My uncle, Isaiah, is our weaponary teacher. He has been teaching us and sometime we get late there. This class is the best, but the only problem is that all the heirs for alphas are taking this class and that means some guys are always bragging on who is the best.

He starts talking about swords and how we will all someday will get out very own one. "You all here are close to the age when you soon earn your very first sword. The Alpha and his Luna will be present to see you get your first weapon."

He looks at each one of us and then to me. "Each one of y'all are special and have a place in your tribe. You must be proud of who you are and let no one take you down. Class dismissed." Everyone get up and starts to head out while I head to my uncle. "You know something? The best way to get my attention is by talking about the Alpha and his Luna. Very intelligent." He smile and collects his belongings.

"Michael, how many times is it going to take for you to understand your position. You are the heir for your father and you show no interest in it. Why?" I look at Brian with a serious look and he get the message as he go to leaves the room."You know the answer to that question uncle. I don't want to since my sister is not here."

"But Michael, have you ever thought about what would Mich-." I put my finger out and he stops." You don't know what she will think since she is not here. I understand my role as a heir but I don't see myself capable of leading a tribe." He nods as I leave the room and Brian standing there, waiting for me.

"So was the conversation good or bad?" I shake my head and we continue our day. The classes are over and we walk together through the forest. We finally reach a gate and we walk through to a grave yard. I walk up to a grave stone that read; " Michelle Grabiela Barnes. A sister, a friend and a twin."

I sit down and Brian leaves to have some privacy with her. I spent time talking to her about the classes and about the family. I talk to her so long that I realized the sun was going down. A hand lands on my shoulder and I look up to see Brian." It's time to go." I nod and I get up and we leave. He walks with me halfway before he take is way to his house.

I take my time and I finally arrive to see my personal protecter, David standing there. "There you are Michael! We need to hurry because you have dinner with the Luna at 7pm and then a family reunion at 9pm." I nod and we head to my room. I walk in and David goes to my closet to pick out my outfit. My room has a queen size bed with my own bathroom and my own balcony. I have a small library and small kitchen and living room. Since my father is an Alpha, he gets the best for us.

David comes out with a black suit that is with a red shirt and a black bowtie. Michelle would always wear a dress while I wear a suit that would match perfectly. I take a quick shower and then put on the suit. David fixes my hair to make sure it didn't stick out anywhere.

I put on my black shoes and put on the jacket. I look at the mirror and David puts on my necklace. It was a gold necklace with a small golden katana. It was a gift from Michelle from our 10th birthday. I get up and leave the room with David behind me. We head downstairs and walk to the garage to see my black BMW i8. David opens the door for me and I get in the passenger seat and he get in the driver's seat. We take off to the Alpha and Luna's home and david looked a bit nervous. "Miss Michael, how are you feeling today?" I look at him and smiled. "David, You can call me Michael while we are not at the house. We talked about this."

He chuckled softly. "Sorry Mis- Michael. It's hard to say your name since you are well known and everyone is always around you so I can't call you Michael that much." I sigh and I look out the window. I see the house in the distance and I start to get nervous. We pull up and David parks and gets out and quickly opens my door. We walk to the door and I look at David. "Do I look good?" He smiles and straightens my bowtie. "You look great and you will be fine. I will be with you the whole time." I nod and he knocks on the door.

A servent opens it and lets us in. He leads us to the dinning room to see Luna and her daughter talking together. They see me and I give them a bow. "Oh Miss Michael, you came! Please sit with us." I take off my jacket and I give it to David. I sit down at the end of the table and David stands behind me at the wall.

"Miss Michael, I don't mean no respect but is it possible that your servent may leave for us to talk?" I shake my head and I look at her. "I understand Miss Luna, but my servent will stay in case something goes wrong. He stay with me 24-7 all day. He is under order to be with me in case....I go through a panic attack since my condition and he could stop any conversation that can affect me." She smiles and nods. The daughter looks at me with an annoyed look and I smile to her. They bring out the food and they serve us. "So Michael, how are doing at the academy. I heard that you are really good in your combat classes."

I nod. "Yes I am. My parents are glad that I found something that I can distract myself since....the accident. They hope I continue my studies so I can one day I can take their place." She nods and the daughter continues to stare at me. I starred to get annoyed so I decided to have some little fun. "Miss Jessica, I heard that you are learning combat as well." She looks at me with a fake smile. "I am and in fact, I am in fifth place on my class. I am almost there to the top." I nod slowly because I can see she was trying to show off. "That is good for you. In my class, I am at the first place. My teacher think he may move me to the upper class since I learn fast."

I can see the jealously in her eyes and I drink some wine. "What about your sister? Do you think she would like combat like you or she would study to be a healer." My eyes widen as I pull down my glass of wine and I heard David shift from his position. "I mean she may have been your twin, she may have think differently from you since she is not her-." I get up quickly and I pin her to the table and I twist her hand.

David gets to me quickly and pulls me away from her. Her mother grabs her and pulls her to her feet. "I am so sorry Michael for the disrespect of my daughter." David lets me go and helps me put on my jacket. "I understand Miss Luna, but if you don't want my family to find out about this, then I suggest you keep you daughter in order before everyone knows what happened here." David puts his hand on my back and leads me out of the house.

We quickly get on the car and David drives out fast. We stay quiet during the whole ride. We make it back to the house and I see we were one and a half hour early to the family reunion. We sit there until I feel something wet on my side. I open my jacket and I see blood on my side. I look at David and he saw it immediately. I lay my seat down and I lift my shirt to see a large cut on my lower left side of my somach. David immediately gets out, goes to my side, opens the door and helps me out. I growl when I got up because of the pain. He helps me to the house and I stop him.

"No. We go through the back to my room. They can't know about this at all." He nods and helps me to the back. We enter through the door that lead to my room and we quickly go inside. He helps me to my bed and I lay down. He quickly locks the door and goes to the bathroom to get some water.

I lift my shirt and I see that Jessica must have swinged her knife when I was on her. David comes back with some bandages, needle and thread, water and towels. He quickly gets to work to stop the bleeding of it. Even though I am a wolf, I didn't get healing ability. Only Michelle and my little brother Marco did.

David stops the flow of blood and starts stitch the cut before wrapping it with a bandage. He goes to my cabinet and take out some pain killers and give me one with water. I drink it and he finally finished. "Go get me my dark outfit." He nods and I stand up to take off my shirt. He comes back with a black long sleeve shirt, red bow tie. I put it on with his help and carefulness.

He fixes my bow tie and I go wash my hands and my face to get myself refreshed. We walk out of my room 40 minutes later and head downstairs to see my brother playing with his wooden sword. He sees me and runs to me and I grab him and I throw him up in the air. His laugh fills the roomas he is in the air before I put him down. He runs along to see his friends and I head to the kitchen. I see some glasses of wine and I go to grab one, but David stops me. "You can't drink it." His eyes goes to my side and I nod. I put down the drink and I see my parents.

"Sweetheart, you made it on time. Come here, I like you to meet Caleb Jackson and James Jay Jackson from the Protecter pack. They came to exchange James for David." I look at David before pulling him to my side. "What do you mean exchange him?" My father sighs and I can tell this was not good. "Caleb came because they need some good protecters back at their tribe since there was an attack."

I nodded as I look at David. "He needs to return to protect his people so that is why Caleb brought his son. He doesn't want anything bad happen to his son. He is well train just like David and he know about your condition." I sigh as I look back to them. "Ok Michael, take James and show him around. I will tell David to pack. He will leave tonight." I nod and I lead James upstairs to my room.

"Ok, here is my room. You are the only one allow to barge in if I scream or you hear something. You would follow everywhere I would go except to the academy. You will be able to stay here and do your things." We continue to walk until we reach a door that was a few doors down mine. "This will be your room you will stay in. You would be able to design and fix your room if you don't like it." We go inside and the room is big. A king size bed, a bathroom, a small living room and a small studies. "Thank you Miss Michael. I will do my best to be there for you no matter what." I nod and we head back downstairs where we spend time talking and had dinner with the family. After dinner everyone started to get ready for bed while I was at the door with David, James and Jacob. David had his suitcase beside him and his backpack on. I hug him tight as he rubs my back.

"I will be fine Miss Michael. James is one of the best protecters. He will keep you safe. Please don't let yourself down and tell him everything that you know or whatever happens to you." His eyes goes to my side and I nod. "Protect yourself as well and please come visit me when you can." He nods and I shake Caleb's hand and they head to the car.

They get in and I watch them drive away until I don't see them anymore. "Miss Michael, it time for you to go to bed." We walk inside and before he leave I grab his hand. "I need you to do something for me." He nods and we go inside my room. I lock the door and I go on my bed and I lift my shirt to see dry blood on the bandage.

"Wait? What happen?" I sigh and he checks it out and I take it off to see the cut has open again. "I went to visit the Luna, but I had some trouble with her daughter." He finds some towels and quickly find a bowl to fill it with water in the bathroom. He comes out and he quickly works on the cut.

"The wound it deep. I am going to have to restich the wound in order to close it. He looks through his bag and takes out some string, and a needle and ties them together. He then take out a small bottle and makes me drink it. "It is for you don't feel any pain." I lay down and he start to stich it up.

"Alright, it is done. By the estimated of this cut, you can't do any combat for a least a week." I grumble under my breath and I get up. He goes to my closet and take out a clean shirt and some shorts and give them to me. "Will that be all Miss Michael." I nod and he bows and leaves my room. I change quickly and I get to bed. I stare at the ceiling and I start to feel fear since I don't sleep very well. I close my eyes as the darkness takes over me.

flashback

Me and Michelle are playing in the forest since our pack went for a hunt. We both were climbing the trees for fun when we hear a twig break. We stay quiet and we look down to see two large men with big guns. I look at Michelle and my eyes go bright green while hers go bright blue and we speak telepathically

"Michael, I need for you to get out of here. You can't take these guys since you can't heal. I will distract them while you call for help. Please do as I say." I shake my head to her in panic. "No, I will not leave you here along. We will do this together. We can take them down. Trust me." She smiles confident and we look down to see the guys above us and we jump on them and pull the guns away from them. I punch one at his face then to his throat that cause him to get knocked out. He falls to the ground before I hear three gun shots.

I look at Michelle and I see blood running down from her heart. She falls to the ground and I run to her and try to stop the bleeding. The other guy runs away and I continue to add pressure but the blood wouldn't stop. Michelle stops me and I looks into my eyes. "I am with you all the way to the end. Don't give up Michael. Promise me that?" I put my fist to my heart. "I promise, but you are not going anywhere. You will stay here with me." She grabs my hand and smiles before she lets out her last breath.

"No no no no no. NOOOOO!"

End of nightmare

"NOOOOO!" I bolt up and see James was there and hugs me. I am shaking and sweating and he rubs my back. I see my father at my door as he comes inside. I start to cry and I hold on to James for dear life. "It's ok Michael. I am here with you as I said. I will not leave you alone". I shake my head and he lays beside me. My father sighs and leaves my room. "Go back to sleep Michael. I am here with you." I close my eyes and I fall asleep from exhaustion.
