As Alex was familiarizing himself with the system, he received five quests, all of which he was happy to do. However, he did not allow his present power to cloud his mind, as he knew he was still a little unprepared. His blunder on earth cost him to be in his current situation even though it all worked out. Better to be prepared than dead. Alex got up, looked around, and saw that the guards were by the door, half asleep. It was midnight, six more hours until sunrise. Alex got up and went to the darkest corner of the cell behind the decomposing corpse. Once he was behind, he used his skill to inspect the guards.

Alex could only guess that the guard level was too high and his inspect skill level was too low. But that did not stop him from checking out the other guards.

Alex then used inspect on the prison in the jail cells that he could see, but the result was still the same. This made him determined to get proper weapons and amour.

"Hey Star, since the sin points will eventually be given to you as I purchase items from the store why don't you give me a loan? Even in games, there is a novice pack?" Alex beckoned.

"hmm, I could lend it to you, but this is the only time," Star replied.

*Ding*

you have received a loan of 20000 sin points.

Alex went to the store immediately to acquire the ghost blade. A tab popped up on the screen.

*Ding*

Are you sure you would like to purchase these ghost blades?

'yes,' Alex replied. 10000 sin points were immediately deducted, a void was opened, and out came the ghost blades. In his eyes, they were like a naked woman, and Alex welcomed the ghost blades like long-lost friends and lovers.

Alex then went to purchase the rift amour. The remaining sin points were deducted. The armor consisted of nine pieces and was made from the scales of a void dragon. The armor was jet black and felt like leather as Alex wore them but harder than metal. The armor morphed, shrinking, extending, or enlarging to fit Alex's body.

2 hand-to-elbow-length sleeves (vambrace) to protect the forearm in close combat.

2 black woven knuckle hand gloves with the fingers exposed. The gloves were a  thin sheet of paper, but it would be easier for a sword or anything to pass thru metal than those gloves.

1 chain mail-like plate/shirt to protect the shoulders, chest, and back.

Two cuisse (thigh sleeves) to protect the thighs

Two greaves to protect the calf (knee to ankle sleeve)

Alex looked at his reflection in the water that flooded the jail cells. Even though his clothes were tattered, He looked quite dashing in the armor, with jet-black hair, a light brown complexion, and orange eyes. Alex estimates he was probably under five feet, which was relatively short compared to his height back on earth. Still, Alex did not mind, knowing that his body was only sixteen, and with proper food and training, he would grow. His looks on echo were that of a boy compared to his cold murderous looks on earth. Looking at his reflection, he noticed that his eyes would flicker between blue, brown, and orange.

"Star, what's going on with my eyes?"

"your eyes were brown before the blood entered your body, and of course, there are going to be changes to your body since you are now a Demi-god. Your eyes will occasionally turn orange or brown depending on your mood or when you use your power. In the future, they may turn orange permanently like mine." Star replied as if all this was common sense.

After putting on the armor and equipping both blades, Alex rechecked his stats.

"Star, what would happen if I failed a quest?" Alex wondered; if he could choose, he would avoid it altogether.

"If you fail a quest, there's a penalty! the dark system gives a penalty based on your results even though you failed.  Quests are used to aid your growth and to judge whether you are worthy of the dark system.  As for punishment, there are various types. When I failed a quest in my youth, the system would teleport me to a place with massive amoeba-like creatures born from sin. My brother had his only two system skills permanently removed. Those are the sets I know. However, if you fail multiple quests, the dark system will deem you unworthy and start to shut itself down, leaving you with nothing. You can fail three quests and you wouldn't receive any penalty. but you should save those for impossible tasks."  Star replied.

"Once your loyalty and allegiance are proven to the ancestor you won't receive any more quests. And have the freedom to do whatever you what."

"what does it mean forever beholding to sin?"

"Don't worry about that now" Star brushed off the question.

"Star, since I have your blood running thru my veins, your enemies are after me, and even the system has recognized me as your son. Don't you think you should at least give me a gift to welcome me to the family? I am sure that your mother or father didn't just birth you, kick you out of the house, and say, 'go live.'" Alex recounted. Alex truly wanted any advantage or gift that he could get from an old godlike Vigerřamous that took advantage of his lack of knowledge during the soul contract negotiation.

"Well, you are right; here is a mask that can assume any face" Star tossed the first thing he knew that he would not need out of his spatial inventory.

Alex received and immediately used inspect.

-----

Name: Mask of infinity faces.

Can fool anyone below the level of a god or above, depending on their strength.

USES: 2/100

-----

Alex was initially happy after reading the description, but once he saw two (2) uses out of a hundred (100) remaining, his joy turned to disdain.

'Stingy.'

He quickly placed the mask in the system inventory before criticizing Star.

"Star, was that a used item?" Alex asked in horror.

With only two uses left, is this how we are going to start our relationship? A god that is supposed to be a father? I might as well have the blood of another god running thru my veins. I guess that is all I am worth?"

Star knew Alex was trying to get something good out of him for taking advantage during the soul contract. But how could the evil god be used like this? Even if you are my son with my blood in your veins, you must first prove yourself to be competent at least. Star thought as he was just about to explode with a barge of insults when Alex interrupted him.

"I am not demanding that you give me some priceless treasure; I might not be able to use it. How about this! You've traveled all over; why don't you provide me with three different poisons? And a manual will allow me to be proficient in using the ghost blades. This would be a gift to allow me to get off to a brilliant start."

Star calmed down after hearing Alex's request; he did not mind it. He collected many poisons and would give Alex the ones that he had a large quantity of or those that would be perfect for this weak universe. As for combat, knowledge of fighting with the blades, he was never going to give that to Alex. So why not make it seems like he is a benevolent father?

Star sent a bunch of combat knowledge to Alex telepathically. Hand to hand, bow and arrow, ax, swords, throwing knives, daggers, blades, and even how to use mana. The system also had a tutorial function if Alex needed it.

A rift opens up in front of Alex, and three jars 3 inches tall and 2" wide, come out of Star's spatial inventory. Alex took them and used inspect.

-------

Name: The venom of the nether snake from the demon plane.

Effects: When poisoned, it causes a burning sensation once the venom reaches the heart. This causes the individual to bleed thru all his orifices. The individual can die in two ways, either with their heart bursting or bleeding out. Both are very painful.

------

Name: The venom of the two-headed viper turtle.

Effects: the venom is colorless and can be detected by all those who have seen it or understand its smell. This poison is a silent killer; the individual will die after 4 days. The toxin can be cured by consuming the urine of the two-head viper turtle.

-----

Name: Venom from the Raška glands (A four-headed mythical creature thought to be extinct)

Effect: This poison paralyzes the individual and takes effect immediately. This venom is not deadly and can be treated by drinking the blood of the Raška or purged with nether flames.

---------

Note: when Alex coats his sword in venom, he has twenty uses per sword for the Raška, five uses for the two-head turtle viper, and one use out of the nether snake venom. Think of the poison as a can of soda. How long can one gulp last before the taste is lost as you smack your lips?
