A descendant of a once-powerful and proud Alpha King, Avana pledged to become the next Alpha and swore never to submit to their enemies. But could she run away from her destiny? But would finding his bride give him what he had sought for centuries? Will Avana and Adam finally succumb to this impending union? Will destiny destroy them or be their salvation? *** "I have searched for you for centuries." Adam grabbed her by the arm, pulling her closer until their faces were inches away. Eyes locked in a battle of will. "Why?" Avana reacted, suddenly drowning in the intensity of his stare. "So, you can hurt me." Saying barely in a whisper. "Kill me?" "No." He responded as his lips grazed through her temple, leaning even closer. "Then, why?" She closed her eyes as electricity coursed through her body with that slight contact of his lips on her skin. "So, I can claim you as mine." Adam could read clearly in her eyes the realization that he was different. He was a dangerous man. He was someone she should never trust.

He watched her walk away from him, staring at her back, feeling the fear radiating from her, hearing her heart quicken its pace as sweat broke out of her forehead.

He initially made a few steps to go after her but abruptly stopped, halting himself from scaring her further. He could barely hold his control when he was around her. He was suddenly afraid of what he would do to her.

Besides, what would he say to her? That he was the monster under her bed. The horrible creature who usually sneaked into her nightmares when she fell into sleep.

Now, how could he earn her trust after this?

"What happened?" A voice asked from behind him, but he only shook his head, still clueless, unable to answer the question.
