9 KARMIC BACKLASH OF THE VAMPIRE

Martintor was about to leave when he heard Clarea's words. He stopped and contemplate what she said for a moment.

"Nonsense!" He said and flew out of the cave.

Vikrice and Clarea were the only people in the cave now.

He looked at Clarea's sorry figure, "…"

"What will you do now, brother in law?" She asked with a face of woe.

"I will fulfill the order of my Lord, of course." He said, trying to look cold on the surface.

He wasn't happy about the order, but he would do it anyway.

Martintor was a scary man. His orders were absolute for anyone in the Western Region. Vikrice wasn't an exception.

Clarea sighed. There was sadness on her face, but she wasn't sad because of her death sentence. She was sad for her son… for what was about to come for his son.

"I want to talk with my son," She said.

Yulian woke up with a terrible headache. His vision was blurry. After a while, he discovered that he was on a bed in the dungeon.

He straightened himself up on the rock hard bed and waited for his headache to pass.

He didn't know how he had come here. Shouting for help was meaningless. He just sat down on the bed, tried to comprehend what happened in the storage room.

'I have felt like there was thousands of little snakes crawling inside of my head. Was that because of my disease? These swellings and blood… Did I hit my head somewhere? Ow… Owwh. My head!…'

The pain gradually decreased with time.

A while later, Yulian heard footsteps coming from outside. Three people were walking towards where his cell was.

He got up and held the grates with his to hands, tried to look at the way that the voice had come.

He heard Vikrice's voice, "Five minutes, no more than that." He said. Then he saw the most familiar figure in his life.

"Mother!" Yulian was happy to see her, but then he saw her appearance. "What happened to you!? You bastards! What have you done to my mother?"

With his shout, the headache started to come back slowly. He wasn't aware of it, but on his forehead, quite a few lines bulged out slightly. It was like dozens of tendrils were spreading through his head, and they were wriggling like a worm!

Clarea couldn't see anything either because of the bandages.

"My head!..." Yulian put a hand on his forehead.

Clarea looked at his son, pity in her eyes. "Your head hurts… Calm down and relax. The pain should pass quickly."

Yulian did as his mother said and calmed down his emotions. Headache started to diminish gradually.

Clarea's face got serious after seen Yulian's relaxing face. "Now, listen to me carefully Yulian. We don't have much time."

"First of all, we won't be able to see each other for a long time. This is our last conversation." She said.

Yulian got panicked, "Where will you go!? Will something happen to you?" He said worriedly.

"Don't worry! Nothing will happen to me." She said with a kind smile on her face, and continued with her earlier serious voice.

"The Great Ancestor of the Red Castle Family has called himself as Vampire. He was the founder of The Red Castle of the West and the first of his lineage. The original carrier of the Red Castle's bloodline powers. Everything has come from him."

Yulian had a confused expression on his face. He couldn't understand why Clarea was telling about this knowledge to him. "…?"

"I am telling you these things because you know nothing about these matters… and you need to know now."

"Vampire Bloodline is considered the strongest bloodline in the continent, but still, Red Castle of the West is unquestionably the weakest of the Five Origin Lands, because the Vampire Bloodline has a negative characteristic, a fatal weak point!"

"When a descendant of a Vampire Bloodline Holder dies, the descendant's death will cause the holder's bloodline to revolt against himself/herself. It won't cause the bloodline holder's death but will cause a drop in Vampire Bloodline's maturity and power for a long time. Sometimes it can even be irreversible."

"This phenomenon is called Karmic Backlash of the Vampire. The closer the descendant to the ancestor is, the stronger the Karmic Backlash is."

"Since you don't carry Vampire Bloodline, these matters wouldn't concern you normally, but you are still someone carrying Martintor's blood in your veins. Therefore, your death might result in Karmic Backlash for him."

"You are his son, in other words, his closest kin. That's why you have been living until this day. He won't dare to take the risk. No. There is no reason for him to take the risk."

Yulian still had a confused expression. "Why are you telling me these things? I still don't understand!"

"We are about to separate from each other. I am telling you about this because I want you to live a peaceful life. I don't want you to lose yourself in my absence."

"Martintor won't kill you. You can spend your days without worrying about anything." At this moment, Clarea's motherly instincts made a peak. The two, mother and son pair hugged each other strongly through the grates.

Yulian forced himself not to cry. On the other hand, Clarea's face was already in tears.

Vikrice's voice awoke the mother and son pair from their trance. "Time is up!" He said.

Clarea and Yulian unwillingly separated from each other.

After one last look to his son, Clarea nodded at Vikrice and followed him towards to the exit.

Yulian stared at his mother's back. Her earlier words were truly strange. Martintor wouldn't kill him. So Clarea's words could be considered as evidence to prove this fact. He could understand that his mother wanted to relax him, but it was still strange.

He felt a cold feeling spreading through his spine to his entire body. "Where are you taking her? Stop!!!"

As soon as he started to shout, headache took place again. "Arghh…" He clutched his head.

Clarea's voice heard from afar. "Don't worry, Yulian. Nothing will happen to me! As long as you live, I will be happy."

.

"Don't ever forget, Yulian! Nothing will happen to me today!"

.

Her voice died down gradually in the cold and dark corridors of the dungeon.

No one did know, but she was thinking differently on the inside.

'I hope you forget, Yulian…'

"Well, it was a lovely scene. Ha ha! I have to take you to someone. Back off a little!"

The third person who came with the trio was Chieff Guardian of the Red Castle's prison. He stayed at the side quietly in Vikrice's presence.

The man was a plump, ugly man. His mouth reeked strong alcohol.

He opened the cell and immediately wrapped his qi around Yulian, raised him up through the air. It seemed like he didn't want to touch him.

"Let me go! You bastard!" Yulian struggled but there was no room for breaking free himself.

"Be at ease, you freak! I am taking you to a place that is very fun! Wha ha ha!" He said and wrapped Yulian's mouth with another cluster of his qi.

The Chieff Guardian wasn't normal at all. Long years in this dark and cold dungeon made him go crazy.

He took Yulian to the Fourth Castle's medical hall.

The hall had an elliptical shape, and there were many doors at both sides. The floor had made of white and smooth stones.

The medical hall was quite lively today too. There were many disciples rushing from door to door with various materials and scrolls on their hands.

Chief Guardian walked down the hall alongside with Yulian who was currently 'flying' in the air. As they pass among them, many disciples turned their heads towards the two's way. It was an unusual scene, but upon seeing the Chief Guardian, they thought it was quite normal.

This crazy man was doing strange things occasionally. However, the man who was waiting for him at his destination was ten times more strange than him… or crazier.

Chief Guardian head towards a door on the right. A man with slanted eyes was waiting in front of the door. He had black hair with a red tinge. His face was too clean. There wasn't any facial hair or blemish on his face. He looked like a completely normal guy.

His name was Ibho Rosennor. He was one of the Mitraff's many apprentices.

Chief Guardian arrived at his side, "I brought your patient!" He said, threw Yulian toward him and left immediately.

He didn't like Ibho at all, due to his weird hobbies, no one liked him actually.

"Thank you for bringing him to me, Chief Guardian," Ibho said after the guardian's back with an amiable smile on his face.

Yulian has still bound by the Chief Guardian's qi. Upon seeing Ibho, he felt a chill, and all the hairs on his body stood on their ends.

Ibho opened the door of his study room hurriedly. He was holding Yulian between his body and his left arm. His face didn't look disgusted at all.

There were many jars in the room, filled with various liquids. No. Not just with liquids; fingers, organs, bones, heads, tongues, penises, testicles, various magical beast parts… All the shelves were full of them.

Seeing the jars, Yulian started his fierce struggle, but it was futile! With a quick touch on his neck's back, Ibho put him to sleep.

That was the second time Yulian losing consciousness today, and Ibho was eager to add a new piece to his collection, so he didn't waste his time.
