Odd Gobs for Low Pay

Strix and Tilly continued to wrestle around in the clearing. Lorenth couldn't be sure if they were intending to actually hurt each other or if it was in fun, but either way they didn't seem to actually be inflicting much harm.

So if they couldn't hurt each other, Lorenth figured that odds were good they couldn't really hurt him either. He needed information to try to get a grasp of the situation he was in, and hopefully they could provide it.

He stepped into the clearing and walked next to them. They were so engrossed in they scuffle that he was standing a less than five feet away without them noticing. He cleared his throat. "Uh-hum."

Instantly the two goblins froze with their eyes wide. At this point in the fight the blue one seemed to have the upper hand, but not by much. The green goblin was on his back in the grass, the blue was hoisted in the air over the green one and seemed to be trying to reach down and throttle the other. Their belongings were scattered in the grass nearby.

"AhHHHHH! It's a big'un!" the green one, judging by voice, named Tilly yelled.

"SHHHH! Be quiet and still! Maybes he go away!" Strix, the blue goblin, urgently and loudy replied.

Lorenth rolled his eyes, "I'm right here. I can see you, sooo...."

Tilly looked at Strix in a panic and croaked, "What we do now, Strix?"

Strix looked equally perplexed, "I. Don't. Know..."

Lorenth decided that maybe a firmer hand was needed, "Look, I can see you and talk to you. I just want to ask some questions, alright?"

They looked at each other, "Umm..."

Finally, Strix looked to have made up his mind. He jumped to his feet, grabbed a small knife off the ground and pointed it at Lorenth with a look of suspicion. "What you want, big'un? You stay way."

Seeing that Strix did this, Tilly hastily looked around for a weapon, grabbed the nearest thing to his hand and jumped back to do the same. "Yeah, what you want?!"

Lorenth looked at Tilly's hand and smirked, "Um... a banana? What exactly are you going to do with that?"

Tilly looked confused and then looked at his hand. Sure enough, he held a banana. "Um... you hungry?" He held it out with a helpless look.

"Tilly! No feedin' the big'uns! You know how they are! You feed them once, and then they know you give food. Come back for more. Soon the big'uns showing up at you tent wanting more and more!" Strix gave him his best stern look and put his hands on his hips in a scolding manner.

Tilly's eyes got wide, "Oh! No feed! Right!" He resumed his not-really-threatening pose preparing to, Lorenth could only assume, stab the "big'un" with his banana.

At this Lorenth couldn't help but laugh, "Look. Look! I just want to talk. I won't harm you. I'm afraid that I'm in need of some help. Can you give me a hand?"

Strix looked at his own hand, "Why you want my hand? It's mine. You can't have it!" He held out the little knife again convinced that Lorenth was trying to harm him.

"Not your... sigh... I just meant that I need you to help me by answering some questions." Lorenth's headache was starting to return. Despite how amusing the little goblins were, it was becoming clear that they probably weren't going to be much help, if at all.

"Oooh! Why you not just say that?" Strix looked much happier and tossed the knife casually over his shoulder into the grass. He sat down. Tilly, for his part, still stood there holding the banana for a moment. Then, seeing that Strix sat, casually sat as well. He began to peel the banana and eat it.

Lorenth smirked, "Ok, first off, where am I?"
