Chapter 14

For the first few minutes of the drive away from Eirwin's estate, Heather reminded quiet as she tried to think through everything that had just taken place.

Some of the pieces were easier to put together such as the curse and the dragon's reasons for doing what he did. She had no problem wrapping her head around that or even the fact that his servant, butler however best to refer to him was a wendigo one that in fact seemed fairly harmless.

What she couldn't wrap her head around was how he got ahold of the time key when she didn't think that they existed anymore nor how he knew someone who was potential powerful enough to make it work or that that person at least someone else who could do it.

Also his sudden decision to have her leave right when she was getting into everything was frustrating as well.

"I know it must be a lot to process miss, but I still think that you're the right fit for this job and that's why I decided to stick with you when I saw your folder." Alfred remarked as the silence continued to span the further they went towards where Heather was saying.

"It is a lot to process, but I still want the job. I'm also interested to know who you got my information from?" he made a sealed lips motion with his left hand after she asked this.

'Can't reveal the sources. If I gave up their information after promising not to, they wouldn't work with me again." he replied.

"I can answer a lot of other questions, just not that one." he added.

"Can you tell me what he wants to use the time key for?" Heather after a pause where she considered what questions she would want to have answered first.

"To find out where the curse originated I believe." Alfred answered.

"Sir hasn't explained what exactly his plan with it is, but from what I understand he wishes to use it to figure out at what point in time did his line become cursed and why." that seemed fairly reasonable to her considering she could see how troublesome the curse would be for him to keep consistently dealing with. It also made other questions pop into her head as well.

"Does he understand though how dangerous it could be to mess with anything in the timeline like that? He can go back and see anything he likes, but we can't do anything to change what happened."

"Oh, he's more than aware of that fact. Sir just simply wants to understand reason behind it in order to try and fix it in the present time rather than in the past." Alfred clarified. He didn't have to ask the dragon to know that he was smart enough than to do something as dangerous as that.

For Eirwin it was a matter of finding the why or the who and seeing where it connected sy the current point in time in life. One he did that, he could work out a plan on how to fix it perhaps or restore things to how they used to be.

"If you're certain about that. I don't mind helping him, I just don't want to responsible for breaking the time space continuum." Heather responded. It certainly wasn't on her list of top ten things that she wanted to accomplish in life before died (whenever that would be).

She wasn't one though that could turn down the opportunity for an adventure and to collect more information on things that she didn't know a lot about.

Eirwin was near the top of the list of things that she was greatly interested in understanding more about considering how rare ice dragons were. Finding previously recorded information was going to be hard as it was.

Following that would have to be the time key. Something as rare and powerful as that she believed had to have some sort of interesting history beyond the rumors that she had heard over the years.

"I don't think you'll have to worry about anything like that. Taking into account everything he has been through, the Master is far careful and calculated in what he does then it might first appear." Alfred assured her.

He has spent enough time around the dragon to know this for a fact.

"At most you'll struggle with matters at work with him because of tight he packs his schedule reach day. He needs help balance work better. Just because he can do so much each day doesn't mean that he should do it." the wendigo sighed when he said the last part.

"Does that mean that days like today really end up messing with his schedule?" Heather already felt like she knew the answer but wanted to hear it anyways.

"For him it does mentally as he feels like he has to put everything off and reorganize it for the next day rather than doing more work and meetings at the estate with those who are safe." Alfred replied.

"For these situations you'll just be tasked with making sure nothing happens to cause his schedule to be put off and that he's rounding out what he's doing so everting fits together properly and he's not processing too much at once." he elaborated.

The conversation paused after Alfred had said this as Heather needed to give him more detailed instructions now that they were getting closer to the apartment complex that she lived in.

The way Alfred talked about it made it seem to her that it could be tedious at times due to the way Eirwin had his schedule setup. That was something she had had to do plenty of times when she was traveling.

It would likely be stressful at first but nothing that she wouldn't be able to get quickly used to and handle when it came to working with the Dragon or at least that was what she hoped anyways.
