17 Inside the Chu Mansion

Staring softly at the dark night scenery, Alliana stood on the balcony relaxedly. She immersed herself with the mellow aroma of wine and the fragrance of the scented candles. The dim lighting coming from the room made the atmosphere perfect.

She looked at the silhouette of the dark mountain surrounding the Chu mansion. The sky was cloudy and there were no stars, but she did not care about them. It was more romantic standing under the dark sky and feeling the cold wind.

She liked the feeling of the cold breeze hitting her skin lightly. Even though she was wearing thin clothes against the cool wind, she knew that this would not cause her to get sick.

The Chu daughters were not the type of people who got sick easily. Well aside from Arianne who was sensitive to the sun's ray.

Alliana took a sip from the wine glass. The aroma of the champagne and the warm feeling it brought to her stomach and chest was delightful.

It was really a wonderful night.

Too bad, her sisters were not here to share this wonderful experience.

The wine brought a lazy and charming aura on the beautiful woman. Her eyes were misty and her cheeks were warm and rosy.

There was a knock on the door, halting Alliana from appreciating the dark night.

"Elder Miss. A guest came in."

"Guest?"

Alliana was not expecting anyone. The Chu mansion had never had guests ever since her grandparents went abroad.

Who would visit at this night?

"Is it my mother?"

But her mother was the sole owner of the mansion and was absolutely not a guest. Alliana corrected herself. "Or is it my mother's fiance?"

"It is not the Madam, but the guest said he was someone whom the Madam had sent."

'He'.

Alliana confirmed her thoughts.

So it should be her future stepfather.

It could only be that man who would have the interest in visiting the cursed family's mansion.

Alliana's eyes flashed.

Various evil thoughts came to her mind.

She walked back into the room and put the wine glass on the table.

While she walked, the long dark locks of hair glided from her shoulders and down to her back, drawing an alluring picture.

"Guide him to my drawing room. I would like to meet him."

***

The night was cold and eerie.

When Javier entered the Chu mansion, this description came to his mind.

He was at the entrance and was being led in by a silent old maid. Three middle-age maids carried the three gift boxes, and one young maid carried the flowers.

Inside, Javier looked around the mansion.

The mansion was enormous. It had a retro western interior design. Most of the furnitures were antique.

It was obviously a manor with history laid in it.

Javier fully took in the idea that his brother was actually marrying a rich lady.

A huge mansion with acres of land.

Only first rate wealthy families could have that luxury.

'Chu'.

Which rich Chu family was his brother marrying?

Javier was led deeper into the mansion. The more he walked inside, the more the place got darker.

The entrance was bright because all lights on the entryway were lit up.

However, how come the expansive living room had no lights even when a visitor arrived?

The lights that brightened up the halls long ago were all dead.

Javier frowned.

Although it sounded absurd, but was it possible that this Chu family were once a rich family but recently become bankrupt, to the point that they even had to save on electricity bills?

Javier threw the ridiculous thought away immediately.

If that was really the case, then this family would not be able to afford a maid, much less three maids.

There were also the gate guards present before entering the premises, as well as the door guards.

A soft and warm light appeared ahead.

After entering another hall which appeared to be the second living room, there were rows of candles illuminating the enormous interior.

The fragrance of calming lavender filled his nostrils.

'Scented candles?'

The rows of candles provided enough light for Javier to see the furniture and the details of the living room.

'What's up with this set-up?'

Were the children playing? But this kind of play was dangerous. What if an accident happened and the fire spread?

These thoughts were in his mind when his eyes caught on the paintings not far away from him.

Wherever his discerning eyes passed, he recognized some of the things.

The collections of paintings hanging on the wall were all authentic. Just a painting alone would cost millions of yuan at least.

The expensive Anna Casa interior and antique furniture fully revealed that this mansion did not belong to an ordinary wealthy family, nor did this family seem like it was about to go bankrupt that they could not pay the bills.

One piece of furniture here costed hundreds of thousands of yuan. These all would surely make a huge price when auctioned.

Now Javier was convinced that his brother's fiancé came from a very wealthy family, perhaps, this family was in the same standing as their surname's prestige.

Javier was so focused in observing the living room that he did not notice that the maids left the flower and his gifts on the table. The four maids had long withdrawn silently.

While he was fixated on studying the paintings, a sweet voice came from above.

"Are you my new father?"
