Surprised Awakening

The headquarters in District 6 known as the Shogun was one of the last lines of defense

keeping out the Xynoins from Districts 7 and 8 from entering District 5.

And since District 5 was where most of the newly gained cursed children were, the organization couldn't afford to let it be overtaken by the Xynoins.

So they began thinking of ways to push the monsters back and make District 6 free from all attacks.

Somewhere in the Shogun headquarters resides a special researcher and doctor for the organization with the name, Himiko Hyori.

She was known to be one of the best doctors in all of Japan and was currently the one in charge of looking after sleeping Yuichi.

She had long blue hair, and will always be seen wearing her glasses, most especially during working hours.

"Just like yesterday, your heart is still beating." Himiko voiced out, using her stethoscope to listen to Yuichi's heartbeat.

He laying unconscious in a white pod with small long holes connected to his body to help in preserving his health.

The room was colored only white, with one working desk at the right side of the room, while working equipment took up about 75% of the office, the remaining percentage was taken by the food and other minor stuff.

She slowly removed the stethoscope from Yuichi's chest before sighing, "It's been five years and he's still showing the same symptoms but no sign of waking up".

Himiko grabbed her jotter and began writing down her observations, "Maybe, if I increase the amount of XH2 in his body, it could force him to wake up? Then again… it could also risk him turning into a Grade 3, so it's best to not risk that".

The door to the lab suddenly opened and outside stood Ava with her military cap being held in her hand.

"Himiko, thank you for looking after him again." Ava showed her gratitude as she walked inside the room with the door sliding shut beside her.

"I told you already, it's my job to run tests on him, so there's no need to be thanking me all the time." Himiko responded, dropping her jotter on the desk before sitting in her chair with her legs crossed.

She picked a stick sweet from her sweet container that was on the table and began peeling the wrapper as she asked, "How was the mission today? Any progress in finding her?".

Ava sat down on the same bed Yuichi was sleeping on and sighed before she answered, "No progress, it's like one time she's there and the next she has totally disappeared".

"Well, if you ask me, I don't even know why you want to find her, didn't you say something about her pushing you to save herself on time?" Kimiko asked with the lollipop in her mouth.

"Anyone could have done the same thing, I can't say for sure if I wouldn't have done the same thing to save myself… it's just how we humans are." Ava responded.

Himiko sighed, opening the first drawer on her desk and bringing out a paper, and tossing it toward Ava.

Ava caught it and noticed a horse seal at the back of the document, "Himiko, what is this?" She raised a question, looking at the front of the document and back.

"It's another request for you to transfer to the black Owl base… looks like District 3 is getting more adamant about having you on their team." Himiko commented while still licking the lollipop in her mouth.

"Did they mention anything about bringing Yuichi along with me?" Ava asked another question, unwilling to even see what the documents said.

Himiko stood up from the chair before removing the lollipop from her mouth, "Okay, I've been meaning to ask this, but is he, your husband or something?".

"Uh?"

"Don't uhn me… you were willing to stay five years watching someone who showed no sign of waking up, even declined offers to be a 1st Lieutenant in District 3… you have to be in some kind of mad love relationship to sacrifice so much for him." Himiko expressed the thoughts she had been keeping to herself for years.

Ava looked up at Kimiko, not long after, her face immediately turned beet red which led to her looking away, "Don't say such embracing things.'' She said with a high pitch.

A deadpan expression hit Himiko on the face as she watched Ava get flustered. She didn't know what to say because it was weird for Ava to act like that. She was the same woman that wiped out a whole force of Xynoin and once stood up to the major general.

Himiko finally figured out what she wanted to say but was interrupted by Jackson who walked into the room.

"Doctor Himiko." Jackson greeted as he walked inside the room.

"Sergeant Jackson, it's been a while since I've seen you here… you are looking handsome as usual." Himiko replied.

Jackson chuckled weirdly in response to Himiko's compliment, but after looking at Ava he quickly brought back his composure.

"Ava, Lieutenant Colonel is ready to speak to you." Jackson reported.

Ava sighed almost instantly before she stood up from the bed, "I guess it's time." She grabbed her hat from her bed and wore it on her head.

"Please take care of Yuichi, I shouldn't take long." Ava walked out of the room and Jackson followed.

Once Ava was gone, Himiko looked at Yuichi for a while and noticed his face was getting pale, "Time to refill your calcium," She said as she walked toward the fridge.

"Your body takes way too many calories, I just refilled this an hour ago and it's already empty… ".

While Himiko was busy searching the fridge, she suddenly heard a loud thud behind her.

As she turned to look, her eyes immediately widened in shock when she saw Yuichi standing in front of her with his eyes glowing.

'How are you even…?' Himiko's shock turned into fear when Yuichi started moving towards her with grunting sounds escaping his mouth.

She moved back, reaching for her desk so she could press the emergency button before things could escalate.
