Maria dropped the files. "Am not here to fight you, doctor".
Arwen scoffed. "What then do you want? a cure?".
"Cure?, Who said anything about getting cured".
Maria glanced at him, her lips drawn wide as she fell into deep laughter. A peal of evil laughter like that of a villain.
"Ha ha ha, what's funny huh?".
Maria stopped immediately. The sudden pause made Arwen fidget.
"If I'd wanted to kill you, you won't be breathing by now". Maria stood up from the desk and walked to the door, "Like I said I just want to talk".
She walked out of the room. Arwen released his magic, he took in a heavy breath cause his heart has been beating so fast, he needs to get relaxed.
He walked out of his room, slowly, he was checking if Maria has finally left.
He got to the sitting room and picked up the telephone on the desk. He dialled a number and waited.
"Who are you calling?".
Arwen jumped. He thought that Maria has finally left.
"What are you still doing here!?".
"You jerk". Maria walked up to him. Arwen summoned his magic circle again. He wasn't taking any chances.
Maria ignored him and went straight for the telephone and smashed it on the floor.
"I'd told you that I want to talk and stop wasting your magic energy".
She went back and sat down on the sofa. Arwen saw that she meant what she said. He wondered what she wanted to talk about to him.
"What is it you want to talk about?". His magic circle was still glowing, he wasn't surrendering that.
"Could you at least help yourself?"
"Huh?" Arwen didn't know what she was talking about.
"Are you going to keep your magic energy on till we finish talking?".
Arwen noticed where she was pointing, if he keeps his magic circle on, he'll lose energy. Arwen released his magic circle but he didn't stay close to Maria in case she was using a decoy to disarm him to attack.
"Ok, what is that you wanted to talk about?".
Maria stared at him. "I know you hate chaos".
Arwen was a bit disturbed by what she said. "Everyone hates it".
"Yeah everyone except Botan and his cohorts".
Arwen rubbed his neck. He wondered if what Maria said was true. It was obvious that chaos was abhorred and it's a deadly magic.
"They knew what they were doing, and they are trying to protect the Magisterium". Arwen tried to protect the interest of the magisterium.
"Protect the Magisterium you say. Well, risking chaos in the magisterium is not protecting the magisterium doctor. You know the truth, you know that chaos has taken so much from you".
"What do you mean by that?" Arwen frowned immediately, he haven't told anyone about his tragedy. He wondered what could have made Maria make such a statement.
"You couldn't help mumbling, doc". Maria stretched herself on the sofa. She looked at Arwen and saw a curious look on his face.
"Let me break it to you then. Somehow, you lost your family to chaos".
"You were awake all this time in the hospital".
"Affirmative", Maria laughed.
She continued, "Doc, you don't want to lose any other person in the magisterium, do you?".
Arwen still didn't get to understand why the Hokage and Botan wants to keep Kai in the magisterium. Whereas he bears a forbidden power. He has studied a bit about chaos and found out that chaos has its mind. 'what if the chaos is back to open the gate of the chaos-ridden beast. That will be another mage war and it's going to be disastrous. Arwen kept stirring his thoughts.
"I know how to get chaos out of the magisterium".
Arwen looked at Maria. He wondered if she thought that chaos is just wandering about which is not true. " This chaos lives in a kid, and he is the vessel that bears the chaos. So getting chaos out of magisterium is likely getting him out".
"Absolutely", Maria nodded.
"Are you crazy?. You can't even do that, I mean, the soldiers are already looking for you in the magisterium and if they find you they will kill you. And another is that the Hokage knows about this kid and he's protecting him even with master Botan".
"Well, that's where you come in". Maria smiled. It was a wicked smile and Arwen knew that whatever it was, it was no good.
"What do I have to do with this?".
"Doctor Arwen, you hate chaos right?".
Arwen nodded.
"Good. I hate Kai". Maria's face went sour. Seems like the name Kai gets to her.
"He's just a kid" Arwen mumbled.
Maria scoffed. "Until you see what he can do with that chaos".
"I knew he got you chaos ridden". Arwen's voice was low, he made sure it wasn't loud cause he didn't want to annoy her.
"Well, am not regretting it, doctor. So where do we start".
Arwen exhaled. His breath was heavy, he was about to betray the Hokage but he wasn't sure if the Hokage was up to any good.
"You don't have to worry..."
"Am not worrying" Arwen cut in. "Am trying to protect the Magisterium. So I say we start in East China".
