The silence

As soon as Sasha promised to talk, the vampire withdrew his fingers from my neck. But that only caused the blood to flow out even faster, since the pressure against the wounds were now gone.

"Stop the blood flow! She is dying!" Sasha screamed in panic.

The vampire however didn't react to her plea. Maybe he required proof for her promise, before taking action? Or maybe he was scamming her?

Either way, I was finding less and less energy in me to care about this. My vision was darkening and my consciousness was fading. Just before fainting, I heard Sasha scream:

"He is at the Hunter's Headquarters...!"

"Little mouse!" A hand grabbed my arm in a steady grip. Before I had the time to react, I was pulled into an embrace.

"Little mouse, you are alive! That's good. That's good... My gut feeling warned me of something bad happening to you, but I am happy that it was wrong."

Even though I was glad to see him, I had greater concerns on my mind. Thus I only briefly returned the hug before escaping his arms.

"Kane, where is your brother?" As I asked this, I observed the green-eyed man in front of me carefully. I didn't want to miss any sign of his reaction.

"My brother?" He seemed surprised by the question, but not totally lost, which provided me hope.

"Why do you want to know that?"

I breathed out in relief, since his answer indirectly eliminated my worry.

"Because the man I have always liked is him." I couldn't help the small smile that bloomed on my face as I thought of him.

"Wait a second, the man you have been talking about all these times is my brother!?" Kane wore a shocked expression, before morphing it into a pitiful one.

"But what about me? I thought I was the man you always crushed on and that you didn't dare to confess because of shyness." He continued with a grieving voice and a pouting mouth.

"I even spent sleepless days thinking of a to break the ice, to show how harmless it is to confess to me and now you tell me all was for naught?"

To his act of silliness, I chuckled and feigned being surprised.

"Opps, did I accidentally deal a lethal blow to your self-esteem, Mr. Narcissist? That was totally not on purpose."

"Yeah, right. Do you think you can win an Oscar with your lousy act of innocence? Let me tell you, that isn't going to happen even if you lived for a million years." He muttered unhappily, while I kept smiling.

"Anyway, you haven't answered my question yet. Where is your brother? How is he? Is he unharmed?"

At my serious questioning, Kane also dropped his playfulness.

"Little mouse, if the man you like is truly my brother... then I am sorry but it would be best for you to give up."

"Why? What do you mean?" I didn't like the way he looked at me. It almost seemed as if he wanted to comfort me.

"Because he is in love with someone else."

Slowly, I began to rise in consciousness as my dream faded away. I realized then that I lied on something soft and decided to open my eyes.

A small and cozy room greeted me with brown, antique looking furnitures . The bed I was nestled in was so comfortable that I wanted to stay here forever. Though I had the lingering feeling of something being wrong.

First of all, I seemed to have had some kind of dream, but it's content was fading faster than I could recall as dreams always did. What remained was only a feeling of shock and betrayal, but I had no idea why. Secondly, I didn't recognize the room I woke up in...

I immediately jumped out of the bed and became alert.

Where was I? How did I end up here?

Suddenly, the door opened itself, which caused me to freeze. A handsome man in a black suit walked in with a face that seemed to have been directly carved from marmor. His cold sapphire eyes stared at me with so much chill, that I feared that I might literally freeze to an ice cube.

As soon as this man appeared, I managed to recall everything that happened prior to my loss of consciousness. Undoubtedly, I couldn't help my heart from speeding up and my eyes widening in fear of this predator in front of me. I followed his movements without daring to blink, in case he would use his inhumane speed and end me. If I was going to die, I wanted to know exactly how I did so.

At last, he stopped in the middle of the room on the crimson red carpet. He tilted his head a tiny bit sideways and observed me with curiosity. I didn't dare making any sounds in fear of triggering his killing intent.

Thus the room was filled with silence as he stared at me and I stared at him.

He narrowed his eyes and I widened my eyes.

He licked his lips and I bit mine.

He opened his mouth and showed his sharp fangs, and I opened my mouth to let an unavoidable sharp inhale occur.

He closed his mouth and I closed mine.

Then the circuit was repeated.

Again and again.

Until, my poor heart couldn't take it anymore.

"Just f*cking do it, will you!? If you are going to suck me clean, then suck me clean! At this rate, I will die of a heart attack before dying of blood loss!" As soon as my outburst of words ceased, I wanted to drown myself in a flood of regret.

Why didn't I plead him to let me live and instead provoked him to kill me even quicker? Why was I so stupid? Did I hit my brain after going unconscious?

"You do remember." His voice was as cold as the last time, but there was something else in it too that I couldn't identify at the moment.

Of course I would remember! He had threatened me, choked me and bleed me, which did make him quite rememberable. In my entire life, he was definitely the first one that had done these unmoral acts against me.

Still, his statement caused me to think again. Maybe I wasn't supposed to remember? Otherwise he wouldn't have said something like that.

"Re-remember? Remember what? Wh-who are you? Where am I? Wh-why am I here?" I decided to play dumb and pray that my acting skills were worth Oscars.

However, he didn't seem amused of my little act.

"Your friend is in my hands. Keep pretending and see what happens."

What do you think of this cold vampire? Isn't he cute? xD
