Chapter 02 — Blaire

"Rise and shine, princess Blaire," Beatrice said as she gently shook the girl. Blaire groaned and rolled around the bed before getting up. She pulled the silk duvet off her body as it was getting warm inside. She looked around the room for her boyfriend and fiancé, Zander but he was nowhere to be seen.

"Where is Zander?" Blaire asked Beatrice, her own personal maid that had been working for her for more than a decade.

"He left early in the morning," Beatrice replied. "He has some important work, I guess."

"Oh! Why didn't he tell me? Could you please fetch my phone so I could give him a call?" Blaire asked.

Beatrice nodded her head and pulled out her phone from the drawer. She handed it back to Blaire who then called her fiancé. It wasn't often of him to leave morning after making love.

"Zander, my love, why did you leave?" Blaire asked as she dismisses Beatrice with her fingers.

"I'm sorry, I had some work so I had to leave but last night was fun. I'll see you soon, I have to run now." Zander replied.

"Okay, I love you and see you later!"

Blaire got off from the bed. Her servants prepared her a warm bath which she took without any stress. It was early in the morning and mornings where the only time she didn't have any stress or work on her shoulders.

Ever since she received her fair share of her father's company, she had a lot of work to do. There wasn't even a single day where she could sit on her king-size bed and rest with her fiancé in his arms.

"Good morning," Blaire said as she walked downstairs to meet her parents. They returned back from France last night and she couldn't meet them earlier as she was occupied with Zander.

Miranda and William kissed their daughter on her cheeks before settling down on the table and having breakfast together.

"How was the trip to France?" Blaire asked as she chewed on her bread and eggs.

"It was good and bad. The trip was good but the meeting went bad with Mr. Anderson." Miranda explained.

Miranda and William often travelled around the world for business reasons. They had to go here and there almost everyday, sometimes Blaire joined them as well. It was often to see the Lee mansion empty and only occupied with servants.

"Oh, how bad on the scale of 1-10?" Blaire asked. Mr. Anderson was an important person to the empire Miranda and William ruled.

"Hard 8,"

"That's sad," Blaire quivered.

"Yes, anyways, we have a welcome back party tonight and you'll be attending so keep your work aside and dress up like a princess for once." Miranda stated.

"Sure, mother." Blaire replied as she sipped on her orange juice.

As soon as Blaire got ready for work, she left the mansion. Lee Enterprises was a multinational company with headquarters located in London. It's main focus was in export and import but other categories such as technology development and banking was also a part of Lee Enterprises.

It was a large empire that was built in 1930's and bought down to the Lee family. Blaire's father, William Lee had been the CEO of the company for the past couple decades, it was now time for his daughter to take over as she was adult and responsible enough.

Although it didn't seem like it.

Blaire didn't like the stress she got from working all day long. At first, it was all roses and butterflies. She had the advantage to delegate all her daily tasks to someone but doing that now seemed nearly impossible. The company needed Blaire to attend her meetings and they wanted her voice instead of someone else who was paid in her place.

"Ms. Blaire, you have a meeting with Mr. Atwood in 10 minutes," Her personal assistant came inside her office and said.

Blaire groaned. It was getting late, she needed to get home and dress up for the party tonight. She even forgot to invite Zander. She was way too occupied to think about anything else than work.

"Hold that off till tomorrow. I have to leave for something important," Blaire said as she stood up and grabbed her phone.

It was enough. She needed to head back home now.

"Okay, Ms. Blaire." The assistant agreed.

"Get my driver downstairs in 5 minutes," she ordered before leaving her office. She walked down and her car was ready to leave.

The weather was chilling and cold, there was a storm that was approaching Astwood.

"Zander," Blaire called.

"Hey, how are you?" He asked.

"I'm fine. I wanted to invite you for this party my parents are throwing. I'm really not in a mood to go alone so could you show up?" Blaire asked.

"Tonight?"

"Yes," she replied while biting her nails.

Zander was a lovely man in front of Blaire's eyes. He was a hard-working man who kept his business and personal life equal. He loved Blaire dearly and met her when they were on 7th grade, since then they had been dating and now they were engaged. However, things were loosening up for Blaire, she stopped feeling what she felt for Zander years ago. She barely thought about him throughout the day and making plans together was nearly impossible as she was busy all the time.

"Okay, I'll come by, what time?" Zander asked.

"8," Blaire replied.

"See you then!"

"Where do you want to go, Ms. Blaire?" The driver asked.

"Lee Mansion," Blaire replied.

Blaire had enough time in her hands to freshen up and get ready for the party. She loved partying and meeting new people who weren't there for business or politics. It was a bonding time for the family as they'd be finally together, tonight.

But the meeting Blaire missed costed her a lot more than she thought.
