9 THE MOON GOD'S FAULT

Eighteen years ago.

The King had almost dropped the newborn on the floor due to the fact that had just reached his brain, but his brain couldn't even give orders to his hands, causing his hands to suddenly go limp.

Thankfully, the maid noticed his reaction, and she immediately stepped forward to take the poor baby for the King's hands. She had expected such a reaction, and that was why she didn't even dare to tell the King about the gender of the baby.

Thinning her lips, she let the King see the baby's genitals with his own eyes. And now, the King seemed to be having a hard time accepting reality.

His lips had smiled at the baby before, but now they were trembling slightly. No one dared to make a sound except for the Queen.

"It's really a baby boy, Your Majesty?" Queen Richenza asked a question in a shaky voice.

She tried to bring her body to sit on the bed, but she was still very weak and could only lean on the head of the bed.

King Gerold could hear the question, but his feet seemed to be glued to the floor. Not only did his hands go limp like they were boneless, but his tongue also couldn't move as he remained still.

Getting no response from the King, Queen Richenza's body began to tremble. Her brown eyes were wet, and her face was red. Suddenly, she dropped his body on the cold marble floor.

The loud sound managed to pull the King out of his reverie, and he immediately charged towards the Queen on the floor.

"You're still so weak. Why don't you rest in bed, honey? What if you get hurt?" King Gerold tried to get the Queen to bed, but the Queen kept shaking her head as she refused to move.

"It's my fault, Your Majesty!" The pink-haired Queen suddenly screamed hysterically. "I gave birth to the baby! It was I who sinned for giving birth to a baby boy!"

Not only did she start screaming, but the Queen started to cry like she had just lost her mind.

The King's heart was broken a second time. He immediately took his wife into his arms and kissed the top of her pink head.

Queen Richenza just risked her life to give birth to the baby, but after the baby was successfully delivered, the Queen immediately blamed herself.

It was a painful sight in the King's eyes, and even if he wasn't a man with a weak heart, he ended up crying because of his wife.

"No..." He managed to say the word through his sobs. "Now I have a baby boy because of you, and I'm so happy because of it. I was so happy that I ended up crying."

It was King Gerold's ridiculous excuse, and of course, Queen Richenza didn't accept that excuse.

The pair of brown eyes were covered with tears, and they stared coldly at the tiny baby in the maid's arms. She was indeed expecting a baby, but the baby boy was a disaster for her.

"What can we do now, Your Majesty? I have given birth to a baby boy, and that's not a good thing for this kingdom. But, we still have to announce it to our people, right? Should we announce that the baby is dead?"

Queen Richenza sounded desperate, and King Gerold looked surprised as he used his hands to cup his wife's face. "You want to kill our child?" He asked his wife.

Both the doctor and the maid looked surprised when they heard the King's question.

"If we don't kill him, maybe he will be killed by our people because they are too disappointed. After all, it will be the same ending for him," Queen Richenza replied coldly.

Indeed, the Queen was extremely desperate, and King Gerold gritted his teeth from feeling useless. It wasn't his fault, nor was it the Queen's. So, whose fault is it? Was it the Moon God's fault?

"Perhaps it is indeed the Moon God's fault," King Gerold responded, and his answer shocked the three adults in the room. "The Moon God has always been accurate with his previous predictions, but that doesn't mean he won't make mistakes. He predicted wrong. My first child is not a girl, but he was a boy. It's indeed Moon God's fault!"

No one in Grinia had ever blamed the Moon God. Instead, they had been Moon God's believers for many years. Even the Kings of many generations did not dare to speak ill of Moon God as if they were afraid of God's wrath.

However, King Gerold was like walking on thin hair now. Both stepping back and forth would cause him to fall into a bottomless pit, and he ended up condemning the mighty Moon God.

Queen Richenza was the same. She was the Royal mother, the one who had the baby in her womb for more than nine months, and also the one who received so much love from the people because of the baby in her womb.

They hoped for a bright future for Grinia on behalf of the Crown Princess, but today, they got a Crown Prince instead.

"I have a good idea," King Gerold suddenly spoke again, and his face suddenly brightened. "The Moon God said that my first child will be the Crown Princess of this kingdom, right? Now we have a Crown Prince instead, and it seems that the Moon God doesn't want to help us in this situation. So, we can only help ourselves in this situation. Let's announce to the world that Queen Richenza of Grinia has just given birth to a baby girl who will become the Crown Princess of Grinia in the future."

"W-what?" Queen Richenza asked wide-eyed after hearing her husband's firm statement.

King Gerold turned to her again. "The Moon God wants us to have a baby girl, so we will treat our baby as a girl," he told his wife before turning to the doctor and the maid. "You two better keep your mouth shut if you don't want to lose your life. Today's newborn is a girl, and she will become the Crown Princess of Grinia."
