1 1 - Fix

The squeaky, forlorn sounds of feet dragging against wood filled the empty hallway, as two women clad in white wandered the hallways. Chatter interfered with the silence, as the two women stopped immediately in front of the door, almost with a sort of dread as their chatter stopped for a moment. The two nurses faced each other for a moment, as their voices slowly quieted in a whisper, as if afraid to disturb whoever was inside

"What's your relationship with the doctor, eh? Tell me –"

The nurse had still bubbly asked, but more of a whisper amongst the two. The other woman, with a scowl, shook off the question with an annoyed expression evident on her face, as her eyes remained on the door

"You've heard of that girl, the new patient ... right?"

The formerly bubbly, and seemingly younger nurse quieted, as if gathering all the gossip and dirt she could have thought about and keeping them aside as she also stared to the door. Eventually, she quietly nodded

" .. Yes. She only ever revealed Ai as her name. I was there when they brought her in "

A shiver passed through her at the memory coming to her. Of a blank child in bloodstained clothes, seeming to stare into an abyss past the floor.

"Rumors have it that she's been here before ...her own parents bringing her here and abandoning her. Others say she killed them and was brought here for healing... honestly I believe the latter "

This time the previously annoyed nurse was suddenly enthusiastic to hear whatever the gossip filled nurse had to say, an intrigue present in her motions

" .. And? "

"And? "

The nurse's intrigue vanished, as her irritation surfaced once more, eyes narrowing to the other female

"Don't you have anything else to tell me ..? You're saying that is all what you know about mystery child? "

The younger nurse snorted softly with a light laugh, which earned her an elbow to her side

"Look at you, actually wanting gossip for once! "

"Shut up- "

The older woman flushed in embarrassment as she turned backed to the door. Once again, that dread filled her stomach. And suddenly she wasn't so sure of entering the room anymore with the grated herbs she was meant to administer to her

" .. Could you do this for me … by any chance?"

The younger had a nervous laugh pass her lips, wiping down her sweaty hands against the white fabric of her clothing

"No way you're passing down that job to me, hell no. Do as you're told, I'm not taking over your job again. Especially not this one "

She huffed, snorting as she mockingly gestured to the older to enter the room with a dramatic wave of her hand. Earning a dark glare from the older who continued to stare to the door

"At least /help/ me –"

She whined, clasping her hands in one another with another nervous laugh on her own, leaning against a wall as she looked down to the tray. She didn't know why she felt something was wrong, to the point it scared to her to interrupt any activity that could be ongoing in the room

For once, the younger seemed to act somewhat mature, despite the cocky grin glowing on her face

"Look who's all scared "

She cooed in a hearty laugh, resting her hand on the door knob as she glanced back to the older

"There's nothing to be-"

And there it was, a loud, hellish shriek, enough to strike petrification in the two women as the younger quickly withdrew her hand from the door. Both of them facing each other. As followed by the shriek was loud shuffling, bangs and screeching against the floor .The fact that they didn't know if one of the therapists was in the room made it worse for them, could the therapist be trying to restrain her? The herbs could burn and cause delirium once in a while after all. Or was she acting on her own, in a hysteric fit?

As the two women stepped away from the door, finally the older swiftly moved to open the door quickly.

And in the middle of the room, in the middle of the small, earthy space that was meant to be her room, was... pure, pure horror.

Enough to have two nurses sick to their core and stumble back in this horror, hands to their mouths and shaking as if their bones had become too brittle. Words unable to leave anyone of their lips.

As authorities came to cart away the young girl, even then, the nurses had remained still from the shock of what they had seen. White uniforms stained in dark blood due to their job to assist in cleaning up the … 'mess'. It had had nurses wretching and doctors trembling in trying to scour the dark stains of blood splattered everywhere around the room . Some of these being heavily present on the girl as well .

The officers, everyone had been silent as the scene was evacuated, and the body of the doctor rolled away. The crimson stained girl, with blank empty eyes staring once more into the abyss. A few people were trying to question her, to at least derive some information, some sane answer and explanation to what had happened, but all they got was a tiny, almost unseen smile on her lips, only for it to settle back into the blank line her lips assumed before.

Eventually the younger woman couldn't take it, and pushed past the crowd of people trying to make sense of the situation, to pull the small child by the arm roughly to face her.

"Why would you do that?! How – what did he ever do?! "

She cried, her voice shaky. Her mind screamed about how unprofessional it was, screaming at a child about this. But she was too horrified to not do so. She hoped to receive a blank reaction, so she could continue screaming, as if scolding the child

But instead, she lifted her head, hair the color of dark shadows parting away from her pale face and sunken grey eyes. And the smile returned, innocent, bright like the child she was supposed to be . So pure that it had people horrified

"I just fixed him, like I fixed mommy and daddy "

That had been her simple statement, before she was pulled away by the officials and shoved into the wagon.

The women remained watching as they left, sick to their stomachs, and a new sense of fear instilled in their being as they also stared into the horizon. There wasn't much they could do, except resume their work. And pray they did not come across the strange child again, as the older, with a simple sigh, pulled the other woman back into the building.
