8 Saving him: A girl, a criminal and good morals

"Does it look like I am going to kill you?" Shadow Cat asked. Marie remained silent not knowing how to answer that question. The last thing she wanted to do was upset a criminal. She then noticed him losing the fight to remain conscious. Shadow cat tried to speak again but he couldn't.

The world became blurry as he was no longer being able to manage his breathing. Marie then notice him having a hard time staying still in his chair. His body looked like it would drop at any second. It was clear that Shadow Cat was losing this fight. Squinting his eyes he tried his best to regain his vision but he had lost too much blood already.

All of a sudden Shadow Cat's eyes come to a complete close and his body falls of the chair his head hitting the edge of the table as it comes down to the ground. Shadow Cat was unconscious.

Marie's eyes widened with terror and her mouth dropped open. She was horrified at the current events. The way his head hit the corner of the table sent a frightful shiver down her spine. Marie was convinced that Shadow Cat was dead. She shivered at the thought of watching a man die right in front of her. Marie swiftly got up trying to think of what to do.

The way she saw it she had two options. Option one, take this opportunity and escape. Option two check for a pulse and if he is alive find help. Marie quickly decided. This is my opportunity to run and I am taking it.

-Marie's POV-

After jumping out of the seat I decided to run towards the door. I have to get out of here I have to go home before I am killed. As I reach the door I turned to look once again at Shadow Cat and hesitate. I stare at the man passed out on the floor drenched in blood. I shiver at both the sight and the fact that I am still all wet and cold.

I notice his chest moves up and down slowly. He is still alive. Wow this man is still alive but from the looks of it if he doesn't get help soon he will die soon. I shake my head trying to focus on my escape. I turn back around and reach for the door knob but I am stopped by the sound of a voice in my head.

"Is this really what you want to do?"

"I have to, if I stay and help I'm sure it won't stop him from killing me."

"Oh, so this makes it okay for him to die? Can you live with the guilt of knowing you could have saved him but choose not to?"

"He is an assassin, a thief, literally the worst criminal in history!"

"He is a human! He still feels, has a heart, breaths, a human that could have killed you a long time ago but didn't"

"I-I"

"Save him!"

-3rd person POV-

Marie stood in front of the door having an internal mental battle with herself. Would she do what was right or would she go for the wrong. She groaned in frustration as the let go of the door knob and decided to stay and help the man. Marie prayed that she wouldn't regret her decision later. She quickly looked around the mansion for a first aid kit.

Every time she entered a room she cursed the day her parent taught her to always help others in need without questions or regrets. As much as her head told her that he deserved to let him die, her heart told her otherwise.

After a few minutes of searching she opened a door to a room that surprisingly looked like a nurse's office. The room held everything from Band-Aids and medicines to blood bags and medical machinery. "Wow" she whispered as she looked around the room. Snapping out of her trance Marie quickly grabbed everything she would need to help Shadow and rushed back to his side.

She started by using all her strength and moving Shadow Cat to the couch, continued by cutting and removing his shirt, continued by adding and IV and injecting him with dioxin to keep his heart form stopping, she followed it by grabbing a pain or tweezers and slowly removing the bullet, lastly she made sure to clean and disinfect the wound and stitch him up. She carefully applied bandaged his side to avoid further harm to the wound.

After she took care of his side Marie proceeded to work on the wound on his head. Making sure she bandaged it as well. She then made sure to grab give him blood to replace all the one he had lost. By the end Marie was exhausted she tiredly looked around the house again trying to find some clothes she could change to.

She was surprised when she found a room full of clothes and not just that but they were her size. Of course, Marie had no idea Shadow had dreamt of a life with her so she thought it was simply a coincidence. After changing her clothes Marie walked to the giant kitchen and grabbed a glass of water and a bottle of pain pills and placed it in the nearby table. She silently thanked the many hours of research and procedures and her dream of wanting to become a doctor.

Marie stood still and stared once again at Shadow Cat. She couldn't help but admire how his light brown messy hair had an amazing shine and how fit he was. Oh god had blessed him with the body of a God. Perfect tone muscles, abs, and biceps.

"Wow this man is gorgeous" she thought out loud. Part of her wanted to remove his mask and find out who the man behind the mask was but the other part knew that if she did she would definitely be killed. But maybe she would still be killed so the question remained will she risk it all and do it?
