2 Unpacking

Despondent, I stepped in front of the first suitcase. A clean, black one. Blank without any decorations or even a nameplate. 'Well, I guess...' I bent down to open the lid calmly. Turns out the whole thing was stuffed with various clothes. Neutral colors for the most part, but I also spotted a flamboyant neon hoodie sweater. In some sort of neon green. It is ugly.. - simply painful to look at. Definitely not mine! The rag landed in the corner by the door. I would take care of that at a later time.

My gaze returned to the heap of clothes that basically littered the bed. For that kind of regular sized suitcase it sure fit much. At first I intended to just open one trunk after another and stow everything away afterwards, but scratch that. I would just handle them one at a time. The room was simply too small to take a different approach. Any more clothes and I would have to place them somewhere between all the other trunks on the floor. Things would end up in chaos...

For the most part of it the clothes were pretty formal. A decent choice of attire. If you ignore certain pieces.. I forcefully averted my eyes from the corner next to the door. 'Time for the next one.'

Basically the same as the first trunk. A crazy amount of clothing, nothing else. It wasn't even a black one, it was a gray case. My face turned gloomy. 'And here I was, hoping for something interesting. I just hope they aren't all full of clothes...'

After putting all the stuff of the second trunk back and closing it's lid, it was the third one's turn and finally I wasn't let down. Instead of soft fabric I found a collection of colorful books and booklets. A glance at the covers strengthened my silent suspicion. 'Just don't think about it. Lalalalaa.' After closing the lid I continued my grand case opening. 'I didn't see anything. Just continue. There might be something more interesting in here.

Various bags and suitcases later, I indeed found some interesting pieces. Especially these fist sized glass balls. They are smooth and pleasingly cold. No idea what I liked about them so much. They were just really pleasant to touch. Oh, and I found a name on one some sort of documents. There is no surprise regarding the last name. Rades. Aiden Rades. This guy seems to be some genius upstart. Freshly graduated from some sort of university. And yes, he certainly didn't graduate from here. Yet he has some pretty good certificates as far as my unknowing mind can tell. In addition to that he was hired as a professor to teach two or so particular subjects. Advanced blank and Theoretical blank one and two. Topics I don't have the slightest idea of what they even might entail.

I could only hope this situation clears up soon. It might not happen. But I simply refuse to acknowledge that. Not now.

My name is Damien Carter. I was the driver of my employer, some busy executive real high up the social ladder. Things could get quite busy at times and I had to be on call practically 24/7, but the pay was excellent. I couldn't say I liked the job very much, however, neither did I dislike it. I hardly ever got to fill the tiny amount of free time I got with something meaningful. With no girlfriend, wife or family I just spent the time doing nothing but waiting until I was called. Actually, that sounds more boring than it was. Listening music and reading something online.. Okay I also did that from time to time. But I don't regard it as anything special or all too meaningful. I simply lived for my job.

I got to drive some gorgeous cars. That was nice. My employer trusted me a lot and we got along really well. He was a decent man. Slightly narcistic, but all in all he was a good person.

It was a day like any other. I drove my employer to work, took a break and later brought him to some other meetings or a business lunch outside. After a busy uneventful work day I returned home late, had dinner, took a shower and went to bed.

Afterwards, I suddenly got shoved inside this sardine tin of a room and was told that I would live here for now. And worst if all, I had a class to teach. The documents in my possession pretty much confirmed Bawels' words. I would be indeed the teacher of a class. Well, Aiden Rades was.

It just seemed like it was assumed I was that guy. At least my guide did... Rades' guide. I would just continue to play along until I understood more of the situation I ended up in. For now that meant, I would have to prepare some classes while I had no idea what I was supposed to teach at all. At least these was an abundance of books in my possession, so I might be able to read up on the subjects. However, before I did that I would have to gather the information about my new schedule and the classrooms I was expected to show up at on time. Therefore I would need to find out where the teacher's office of this school was located at. Though it would have to wait until tomorrow. Unpacking or simply sorting through all the luggage took it's time. By now it was dark outside. I hadn't even had a meal. Yeah, that was another point I would have to inquire. I hoped they provided it free of charge for the professors. I might have the money.. Rades' money. But if I could avoid it, I would rather not spent it rashly. Also, the school provided me a room. So if they did that it wouldn't be an impossible assumption for them to provide my meals as well...
