Chapter Forty-One

Rocks hitting Caroline’s window awaken her from her slumber. She gets up, and walks over to the window. She opens it and looks down. "Caroline." A familiar voice calls out to her.

"Elton!"

"Be quiet, you don't know who's around." Elton says.

Caroline nods in response.

"Tie the blankets together, and climb down as far as you can, then jump. I'll catch you."

Caroline does as Elton had instructed her. She rips the sheets off the bed, and ties them together before tying them to the bedpost. She slips on her slippers, and climbs down the sheet, once she reaches the end, she shuts her eyes and lets go.

"Caroline open your eyes."

Caroline opens her eyes to see Elton. He had caught her, he set her down. "You're alive!"

"You were right. I heed your warning, and I escaped. I came here as soon as I could-" Caroline pulls him into a hug. "Thank you…" Footsteps interrupts this touching moment. Elton grabs her hand, and they take off towards the wood.
